better soft case alternative for pedaltrain metro 20
CameronJ replied to lee650's topic in Accessories and Misc
Check out the Gator mixer bags. The fit won’t be exact but you’ll probably find one which is the correct length, with a few inches of extra width in which you can store cables etc. Worth an investigation. They’re really well made and a fraction of the price of the Monos, albeit not designed for specific Pedaltrain models! -
One thing to consider is that the volume control in the Mesa D800+ is far more linear than many other amps I have played. It keeps getting louder all the way up, it is possible that the GK has much more of its power in the first 50%. I have played a few amps which fall into this category and seem incredibly loud at a one third turn of the volume knob, but then have little useable clean volume after that.
I suspect you may be right on the money with this.

I really like the sound of this. Lots of tweakability. Top jacks are always welcome too!
Cam Had a quick play for an hour or so. It’s great mate, it does what it says on the tin, it blends the sounds beautifully So the centre point of the HPF/LPF dials are 450hz and the cut offs are 3HZ (fully left) and 20HZ fully right. There is a phase switch to set the phase of the high pass, a mix so how much of each signal and a level of 14db boost and a mix dial, so how much of each signal Crystal clear transparency for the bass signal as well as each signal independently, and mix how you want, it really is very good so far. Can’t wait for my new dirt pedal to use for it! Just as I tried to shrink my board.....
That sounds dangerous for my wallet. I’m now thinking of ways to route combinations of various pedals. Now how do I avoid having to upgrade PT Classic 2 to upgrade to a Novo 24...? I have some pondering to do.

I had a feeling you were gonna say a Focusrite - they make truly great gear. I’ve got a lot of love for Novation too.

Wow. You must be in some seriously loud bands if a Mesa D800+ through TWO Big Babys was struggling!!

New bass cab required... but I don’t know which one
+1. If you're contemplating a major/expensive purchase, you simply must try things out. We can recommend what we have/like, but they may not suit you, your amp and instrument. I'd take up the kind offers from BCers to try things, too, but do take your own amp and instrument. Also, unless someone has a roomful of kit, you cannot make on the spot comparisons between different makes/models. I went to BD to buy a new head and ended up buying something I hadn't even considered because I found it worked so well with my cabs and instrument, so the trip was worth it (if expensive...). They're very helpful, especially if you can go midweek, when they aren't too busy with customers and because they have virtually all the major brands, you can compare to your heart's content.
+1 Bass Direct is a great Aladdin’s cafe of serious high end gear. If it’s even remotely feasible to pay them a visit, do it. -
You know, if you could get them new I'd be all over one!
There was a lovely blue one for sale here a little while back. I’d love to play one myself. Having seen a couple of the Chownys at Bass Direct recently I have to say they look really nice. Didn’t get a chance to play one though, sadly.
Hmmm dunno But what with a xenys 502, PJB bass cub, Hartke HD25 and an iRigHD, or USB Audio interface I reckon I have silent practice covered! Aside from a combo/head with aux in the xenys is such a good option as MP3, bass, guitar, mic can all go in May revisit the USB audio interface for silent practice actually, it will give a great sound with its preamps
What interface are you running?
You'd think, but he seems to just want one per person. He's set up that way so I guess thats best for him. It was 10 I asked for initially and that was too much. A few Fmerons, polytope etc. I dropped the quantity and still not interested. I'm not going to second guess his method, ill just deal with other companies who want to have their pedals available for you guys to try. I guess in this instance you guys will just have to go direct. I'm still on the search for other goodies...
That seems an odd stance op for him to take, given that 10 pedals isn’t a crazy number and would mean a solid chunk of money his way in one go. Strange. Thanks for investigating this Darren, legendary sleuth work!
It takes "me" about 5 minutes to set up - one speaker on top of the other, amp on top, pedal board (battery powered) on the floor, plug everything in... It then takes me anything up to an hour to set the PA up, because most of the rest of the band "don't understand that technical stuff", so I've volunteered to do it. The PA is spread among the band for storage, so we usually have a mixture of band members arriving late with their designated bits of kit, and one or more of "I've forgotten my mic stand", "Have you got a spare mic cable?", "Have you got a spare mic?", "Has anyone got a mains extension"... To be fair things have got a bit more slick of late, but (bearing in mind that I don't sing) there was a time when I was routinely taking 2 mics and mic stands to every gig just in case! Even though the agreement is that people bring their own mic and instrument cables I still bring enough to cover everyone, and I quite often end up using mine as I get fed up waiting for people to get the knots out of theirs, which they've hastily stuffed into their bags at the end of the last gig rather than coiling up in a nice neat OCD fashion as I would. Which brings me on to the time spent to pack up, which usually extends to the following morning for me, when I get up and re-coil all the cables that my band mates have packed up for me! Ooh, that ended up a bit cathartic! And don't get me started on the lights - I move on to setting them up when the PA's done...
I feel like we may be kindred spirits...

Battery powered/ light weight & aircraft friendly bass combo?

Basically, yes! -

Oh good god I need this. The fact you can adjust the crossover frequencies is a huuuge bag full of points in its favour.

Battery powered/ light weight & aircraft friendly bass combo?
CameronJ replied to Tradfusion's topic in Amps and Cabs
I’d have been really tempted with a double four if the battery pack was built in. Don’t fancy spending that amount on an amp then having to strap a great big batt to it.
I imagine the first battery I linked to might be small enough to slide underneath the side handle. I’m kind of in agreement with you but if PJB fitted the Double Four with a battery at factory level it would likely encroach on sales of the Briefcase and would substantially increase the size of the amp, putting it into Cub territory and thus, in one fell swoop, ruining the equilibrium of the PJB product catalog -
Battery powered/ light weight & aircraft friendly bass combo?
CameronJ replied to Tradfusion's topic in Amps and Cabs
I’m a very recent Double Four owner and can say it sounds fantastic. I can’t see it having any problem keeping up with a couple of guitarists and unamplified vocals but much more than that and I imagine it would struggle. Regarding battery power, I was looking at getting this. Good capacity, correct voltage and slim enough tnot to add too much to the bulk of the overall package: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Poweradd-23000mAh-Multi-Voltage-Portable-Notebooks-Silver/dp/B013HXKZYW Or if you want a real powerhouse: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Poweradd-ChargerCenter-Generator-Rechargeable-Notebooks/dp/B07259K5MY/ref=pd_sim_107_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7XN2PWR11JNFQ8754F1M -
