1. My first suggestion would be a Strymon Ojai, which would require a little bit of foot-raising on a Nano/Metro board, however Strymon are soon to release the Ojai R30 which has a more flexible outputs (two of which are switchable 9/12/18v) AND it's slightly shallower in depth so will fit under a Nano or Metro without any modification. Each of its outputs provides up to 500mA of isolated power each. Running the switchable outlets at 12/18v will lower the max current for those individual outputs but still delivers a jot of juice. I power my entire main board off of a single Ojai with some judicious daisy chaining and absolutely love it. Should work incredibly since you're going down the route of several modular boards, as the Ojai supppies can be chained meaning you only need one mains cable running to the wall. 100% worth the money IMO. Check the R30 out: http://www.strymon.net/products/ojai-r30/
2. Ah, that would make some sense - I was under the impression that the second footswitch disabled the octave up altogether but I must have been thinking of a different model. One would expect, though, to be able to dial out the low octave, the clean or the high octave entirely with the sweep of the associated knob. Seems like an odd decision - if that is in fact normal behaviour.
3. Zero in the sense that, in theory, there shouldn't be any sound at all? If so then that's very weird.
4. My T16 (octave down only) has the same thing. It's just the character of the octave down sound, but can be dialled out with a little turn of the Filter knob. Edit: unless you mean the filter knob doesn't get rid of the upper harmonic sound?
5. Damn. I must have missed that!
6. Ah, good news. Glad to be of assistance
7.
Unless you've owned an acoustic bass then you realise what a waste of money they are... It is cheap though...
Sadly, for the most part, I have to agree. They're fine if going through IEMs or straight to desk but if you have any significant bass level coming from backline (or if your playing position happens to be anywhere near a PA cab/monitor) then it's a feedback nightmare. To be fair though, I've used my acoustic on touring actor-musician theatre shows with great success - largely due to being able to DI straight to the PA and having sound guys who knew what they were doing. So...depends on the intended usage scenario really.
8. As has been mentioned, whether you'd like the pedal to track chords or not will have a big impact on what you should go for.
9.
Well Cameron you have officially taken the biscuit - i could say mine are a US13, but that means yours are a US14. Not only have you bigger feet, more pedals, but no doubt are a better bass player than me too. Shame you only have a puny 900w amp at your disposal........
Well I'm 6ft7 so if my feet were much smaller than a 13 I'd look a bit weird glad my feet aren't any bigger though as I'd start getting into the realms of only being able to buy hideous shoes! I'd strongly argue you're a better player than I. Most of my time is spent GASing over, purchasing and tweaking effects rather than actually practising on the instrument...I must remedy this ASAP.
10. Wow. A 6 string double bass must take some fine bowing technique.
11. Aaagh! I wish I hadn't watched that video. Sounds great.
12.
An angled "shimmy" is indeed required, but actually it's not as bad as it looks! I guess I'm lucky to have average sized feet and not Cuzzie's size 12s
Or my size 13s! Wouldn't be such a problem practicing barefoot in my bedroom but I'd struggle with it live.
13. Well, I'm currently eating my hat. Looks like quite a delicate tap dance is required to avoid stomping the antennae of your Smooth Hound or knobs on your 2Notes preamp when wanting to engage the T16!
14. Well observed Al I'm holding fire til I can get to London and try one out at the Yamaha Music Store
15. You'd have to upgrade to the bigger brother case which is a bit bulkier but has "proper" pockets which will fit an amp head. It offers more protection than this sleeve version too. Costs more obviously, but it's definitely worth it.
16.
I'm guessing that wasn't your ["current collection of 5 different envelope filters"] but probably a polite product made by Aguilar?
Ha! I may or may not have been mildly drunk when writing that. Aguilar octamizer is the name missing from that post!
17. Had a little gig at the theatre I've been working at for the past 7 months and the had gone right back onto the board. I just have far more confidence in it when dealing with a busy mix!
18.
Tempted by the Fwonkbeta…
Do it!
19. My god. If this were a 5 string tuned BEADG an octave up it would be perfect for me, octave pedal junkie that I am!
20.
Also true. It's such a personal thing the perfect envelope filter. Really getting suggestions won't get you very far til you try them!
Massive +1. I've owned about 7 different envelope filters in all, and still own 5 of them! Very different flavours which are so so subjective! The only way to know for certain is to try them for yourself.
21. Very nice! What's the tuning? I'm guessing ADGC?
22.
Is there not a 'haggle' dropdown menu on PublicPeace? Raises the total price by 50% but let's you haggle up to 30% off, if you're good.
23. That's a good deal. I think I'm leaning toward the full fat version though. Mostly for the extra routing options, XLR input and scribble strips.
