1. Can't say I've tried any Tone City pedals personally. But if it's a cheap, bass-friendly overdrive you're after then take a look at the Joyo Orange Juice. A quick search on here and over on Talkbass will probably tell you all you need to know. There are a few bass demos of it on YouTube as well. I have one and, for the price and size (it's beyond tiny), it's pretty amazing.
2.
I'm pretty sure what you're looking for doesn't exist in the form you want.
I think Bigwan is right. Seems like you're gonna have to make a compromise on something at some point. For starters, I'd suggest abandoning the idea of old/warm sounding bookshelf speakers for this purpose as they just aren't designed to be used as part of a bass amp setup. You'd be better off doing what Dood suggests above and getting a pair of proper studio monitors. They don't have to cost a whole lot of money. Then you can work with EQ in your music player to get close to the warm sound you like. I have 2 questions: 1 - what's your budget? 2 - what kind of computer will you be using for this setup?
3.
I think I might take the Markbass badges off. They are silly large
Now that you mention it, they are pretty massive! Looks much better with just the smaller Alain Caron badges.
4. Surely it's a case of set & forget?
5. Saw this on FB earlier - the white plate and pups look superb! GLWTS.
6. Very neat looking rig man. Classy instruments too.
7. Tried the close cousin of this bass a couple of years ago - the 1405. It sounded great although it had the nordstrand big singles as opposed to the Aguilars which the new series have, so make of that what you will. The neck is very flat but very wide, even on the fivers. Like an aircraft carrier deck. If you aren't used to that kind of width you may be in for a shock! If you are used to it then you'll feel right at home.
8. I've just pulled the trigger on a Yammy THR10. God help me.
9. What a gorgeous pair you have! Congrats.
10. I for one would be pretty devastated if Soundcloud closed. I've got hundreds of favourited tracks by a truckload of artists who I otherwise would never have had a hope of discovering. I use it in the bathroom, in bed, while cooking, walking, on public transport etc. Fingers crossed they can stick around.
11. That looks almost identical in function to my little green Radial passive DI. About £20 cheaper too. Looks great!
12. By the way, there's a VT Bass and a Sansamp for sale in the classifieds right now.
13.
That is an incredible looking bass GLWTS
+1. That upper horn is...well...giving me the horn. Gorgeous instrument.
14. well it sounds like you know pretty much exactly what you want, which is half the battle. I can heartily recommend the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe if you're in need of inspiration, it sounds great and is easy to dial in. I've got a TC Corona too which is pretty awesome. Whatever you go with I think you're on the right track going down the separate pedals route, especially since you only need a few sounds on a small board.
15. I would love to see this sitting on top of an 8x10!
16. I just threw this together as a quick example. It's on a PT Nano+ board which I think is 2 inches longer than the Metro 16 so I've left some dead space at the end. Not wired up but you get the idea:
17. She's a beaut. Didn't realise these had 4-band EQs though. Odd about the knobs too. Since the treble and high mid knobs don't do anything, what's the "stock sound" you've got? As in, does it seem like those bands are flat or boosted/cut?
18. It does seem like the Beat Buddy has this market tied up. Stereo ins/outs, headphone out, midi in, foot switch in. That's tough to beat. No pun intended.
