1. This is reassuring to hear as I love Hercules stands and buy them pretty much exclusively, whether it's instrument stands, mic stands etc. They're solidly built and now I know they'll be easy to deal with should something go wrong. Cheers for the heads up folks.
2. I once had to learn 4/5 songs in an afternoon for an impromptu recording session later that day. Thing is, I was told about it when I didn't actually have my bass to hand, so I had to kind of learn the songs through listening on YouTube only until I could get home and physically play them. None of the songs were all crazy difficult and I have a good ear so it all turned out fine in the end. Not perfect, but certainly passable. Looking back it was really quite a fun experience.
3. Of my two main basses, I own one for tone and feel, the other for utility. My Yamaha BB1025x gives me the sound in my head plugged straight into the amp, while my Ibanez BTB33 is very useful as a solo tool which I tend to douse heavily with effects.
4.
Testing each component one at a time is the only way to go!
This. It's laborious as hell but a necessary evil. The feeling of satisfaction afterwards is worth it! Edit: also, just to be anal/thorough, is your power supply plugged into the same wall point as your amp?
5.
I wasn't bothered about the body wood; I chose my V7 for purely aesthetic reasons, as I love maple/pearl block necks.
I'm very much the same when it comes to choosing a bass. Couldn't care less what the body wood is unless it's a natural top with a nice grain/pattern, but body colour and fretboard are big factors for me. If a bass doesn't sound the way I want it to I'll blame the pickups and preamp long before body wood.
6. Rich that looks great! Lovely colour/scratchplate too!
7. Massive +1 for the PJB Bighead. Such a quality unit in every way - It's tiny, solid and very clean sounding. Just perfect.
8. I don't think it's unreasonable to throw them into the mix. From what I've heard (though the online grapevine, sadly not in person) they're pretty phenomenal. And if the price is right there's potentially the option of building them and then getting someone like Zilla Cabs to make em look pretty, with change to spare vs the equivalent Barefaced/Vanderkley? Just hypothesising as I have no idea how much Jacks cost to make!
9. Fully agree about the odd labelling of jacks! I've always wondered why he hasn't changed that. As far as the knobs, I guess with this particular finish our options are either set & forget, or become familiar enough with the controls to know what does what without being dependent upon labels. We manage it on basses with active preamps just fine!
10. There's a COG Tarkin for sale in the classifieds. There are some great demos of it online, might be worth checking out? Seems quite versatile.
11. Oh go on then, PM incoming...
12. This does look pretty good to be fair. It has its limitations, for example only 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures are supported. I suspect Digitech may do what they did with the Trio line of pedals and release a "SDrum +" model down the line with more bells and whistles. Also, for those who care about such things, this is a thirsty little beast. 800mA current draw

14. This is madness. Especially if the original vintage versions cost less. Confused.com
15. I love Wunjo. Often seem to be spending money in there when I visit, probably due to their willingness to strike a tempting deal on things to make the sale. I've never bought a bass or amp from them but plenty of accessories - cables, pedals, cases and the like. Friendly staff too. They never seem too busy for a chat!
16. Just bought some daisy chain cables from Gareth. A very easy transaction - buy with confidence!
17. Presumably this is the original hot hand and not the HH3?
18. Just bought a 3Leaf Wonderlove from Jojobass. Really well packaged, arrived swiftly and the pedal is mint! Would happily do business again.
19. Pleasure doing business with Jack. Swift postage and good comms Oh and VERY well packaged!
20.
...not to mention the polyphony! I've had a K-Station for a few years and it is indeed a lovely thing. Still tempted by the new Novation Peak though....maybe one day I'll trade up, but I'm in no hurry
Ooh the peak looks amazing. Too much dough for me to be spending though, and if I did have that kind of cash to spare I'd probably go for something like a Roland JD-XA since it at least has a keyboard attached!
21. I'm seriously eyeing up this fretless: https://www.thomann.de/gb/marcus_miller_v7_swamp_ash_5_fl_ts.htm?ref=search_rslt_Sire_384273_15 I don't even play fretless!
22.
The two channel thing on the 500 doesn't do much for me as it just gain and volume variation, shares the same EQ as the other channel. Would be handy to be able to re-eq it on the second channel.
Ah, that's annoying. I assumed you could EQ a completely different sound onto the second channel.
23. This is a bargain, these are great amps!
24. An SKB for sale on this very forum - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/308528-fender-skb-bass-case-l60/page__pid__3333019#entry3333019
