1. As my seemingly unquenchable thirst for new pedals rages on, I've found myself in the position of having or wanting an analog and a digital version of my favourite effect types. I think this is partly because since moving to a battery powered board I'm now particularly aware of the current draw of my pedals. So for all the nice power hungry digital pedals I acquired in my "mains powered" days, I now have a desire to find great sounding analog counterparts to squeeze as many hours per charge as I can. Here are some examples. Filter - Source Audio Manta (digital, 140mA), MXR Bass Envelope Filter (analog, 6mA), 3Leaf Wonderlove (Analog, 25mA) Chorus - TC Electronic Corona mini (digital, 100mA), MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe (analog, 30mA) Dirt - Source Audio Aftershock (digital, 180mA), Joyo Orange Juice (analog, 25mA) There are certain effects for which I have a strong preference of either analog or digital though, regardless of the power they need. For example I know I'm not alone in preferring analog octavers for their tone. Right now I've got an Aguilar Octamizer and DOD Meatbox, with a desire to add something a bit more OC2-like such as a 3Leaf Octabvre or similar. At the same time I quite like digital delays for their potential versatility. I currently have a TC Flashback which will definitely be getting replaced by a Flashback 2 at some point in the not too distant future. Anyone else have analog & digital versions of the same types of effects? And for any particular reason?
2. I'm still curious about a Chowny Fuzzster, even though I already have a Joyo Orange Juice and an SA Aftershock! So no need for it really, just irrational pedal GAS

NBD.

Welcome to the club, enjoy it!
4. Fired up my Polytune mini 2 last night. TC aren't joking when they say the LEDs are retina scorching! I don't know how anyone could fail to see the display properly even in bright sunlight.
5. There's a used Korg Krome on eBay at £450 Buy It Now. Will do everything you need and more, although it's collection only from Liverpool.
6. I've just received a Polytune 2 mini. Will plug it in tonight with bedroom lights on full and see how it looks.
7.
Yes it is wholly true. If I turn towards my amp up close, there is a hum. Turn away from the amp and it goes away. Not really a deal breaker!
+1. It really isn't a deal breaker and it's no different to 99% of jazz pickups out there. A bit of mild hum is a small price to pay for the lovely tone these things put out. The bridge pickups in the BB424/5, 10124/5 and 2024/5 basses are some fattest sounding J pups I've come across. As a result they're actually useful in a mix when solo'd.
8. So the Thumpinator arrived a few days ago - had a chance to play with it through my practise monitor and through headphones, with dry bass and through effects. I did a lot of knob twiddling on my bass and effects to try and get extreme settings and compare result with/without the Thumpinator. To be honest I didn't notice any discernible difference in my sound with or without it in my signal chain...which is probably a good thing I suppose, although it is a little bit disconcerting not hearing what a pedal is doing or knowing whether it's on or not! The real test will be using it through my rig at home and seeing the difference there.
9.
I have been deliberating over a couple of variants of these for a while now, and really fancy a s112 (or a pair...). Does anyone have any experience of the wide w212 as compared to the standard width s212? The standard is about 4 litres bigger (based purely on outside dimensions); would this make a significant difference?
I don't have direct experience of the two, however I do suspect that 4 litre difference in internal volume was probably a very deliberate decision made by Tommy at TKS in an effort to tune the W212 to sound as similar as possible to the standard model despite the increased surface contact with the floor vs the S212 (assuming the S212 is stood vertically). I have absolutely nothing to back this up, just my own pondering and knowing that Tommy is a very intelligent guy!
10. PM incoming for the Wonderlove.
11. oh I know about those but I was referring more to their high end models. Other than their Attitude series of course which seem to exclusively feature maple boards.
12. Hmm. I think he may have just dropped the price? How much was it listed for when you guys first clicked the link? My memory fails me.
13. Oh man this is gorgeous, especially with those black tapewounds!
14. Go on then, I'll have the micro buffer. PM incoming...
15. For those who are sick of the F word... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192228507217
16. These don't pop up all that often - may just tickle someone's fancy. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182648566939

Noisy signal
Would the diago isolator tip remove some of that commomn noise we get when turning on the OD/Dist pedal?
This might help - https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/miscellaneous-peripherals/lehle-dc-filter?gclid=Cj0KEQjw-ezKBRCGwqyK0rHzmvkBEiQAu-_-LPGixVCGTEK8Nj2ZI1-dJuqiXdKCYG_Xt4Qnw1gvu18aAtvD8P8HAQ Not a guaranteed fix but does the trick for some. Edit: this can help remove the pops from true bypass switching, but won't get rid of the inherent noise present when overdrive/distortion sounds are active!
18.
Well done Chris - love the level of customer service you are providing here and having a LOT of fun being wireless with your product. I'm definitely a fan!
Hear hear. Really good to see Chris popping into the forum to listen to players' experiences with the product and offer help/repair so readily. Gives me a lot of confidence as a customer.
19. No problem. Actually, the more I think about it, I reckon it's gonna have to go at the end of the chain. The little TC Helicon monitor I practise through at the moment will certainly be grateful for it!
20.
Nice setup man. It does resemble my own synth setup quite a bit, altough recently I swapped some pedals for a Line 6 M5/M9 and went the MIDI/preset-way. At home I simply plug in both of the signals into my two-channel Markbass LMK. BTW, where's that Thumpinator of yours? Is it the small Wee Lush at the bottom right? Q2, which software do you make these schemes with? I like them quite a bit.
I'm still waiting on the Thumpinator. The Wee Lush box you're referring to is a mute/stutter switch. Very good service and comms from Wee Lush - I'd recommend them highly. I drew all my diagrams with an iOS app called PureFlow. It's free and really easy to use. Takes a couple of minutes to learn and the results are nice and smooth as you can see!
21. Thanks guys. To be honest I only put it there in my draft diagrams after having read a few people's comment here and on talkbass about effects behaving better as a result. I may well decide to put it at the end of my chain though given the fact I'm now running dual octavers Still have to wait for it to arrive though! I'll post results once it's arrived and on my board.
22.
Heathen!
I saw a BB2024 in white with maple board posted on here a few years ago. For some reason I seem to remember that GreeneKing was the owner...I could be wrong though. It looked amazing!
