1. Seeing "Hotel California" an Eagles tribute on September 17th. It's at Pitlochry Festival Theatre which is where I'm contracted at the moment for their summer season. Means I get a cheeky discount! When I get back to London I think I'm going to see Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles at KOKO in London on the 14th of November. That's if something else doesn't come up...
2. Still scouring the 'bay for a BS2 deal...started veering towards an Ultranova and still tossing up between the two. Trouble is, there aren't all that many demos online of the Ultra's bass capabilities vs the BS2! Not making the decision any easier.
3. That's weird. Could be that your amp/cab is rolling off a lot of high end, masking the sound of the distortion that you would otherwise hear perfectly fine through your more full range headphones?
4. I'm not quite sure why Yamaha seem to be so reluctant to put maple board on their basses. They're really missing a trick there.
5. That's a bit of a shame. I have a Trinity T2 reverb and Hall of Fame TonePrints work with it. Edit: I suppose they are both the same "type" of effect though so it makes a bit more sense...
6.
I'm in GG tomorrow. Help me if they've got these discounted yamahas in. £300 off list price for that 1025x
Ha! I'd leave my wallet at home just in case if I were you. You'll almost certainly be handing over a few notes otherwise
7. If you're still considering the BB424... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/308045-yamaha-bb424x-black/page__pid__3327466#entry3327466
8. Your college?! What college is that? Sounds incredible.
9. This looks great. A decent price too IMO.
10. Goodness. I'm seriously evaluating my bank balance right now.
11.
Unless it was strictly for studio use, I'd take patch memories over any supposed superiority of sound. As someone who struggled using non-programmable synths in the early 80s, I have no time for even simple synths that don't have programmable memories for the sounds.
+100
12. Sounds great IMO - though I need to put thicker gauge strings on mine when I get home to raise the tension a bit. Just personal preference. They are different, lighter strings than than the stock ones Yamaha supply the bass with btw, so this shouldn't affect you!
13. I haven't yet emailed them but I may well do. I know the site warns of the waiting time and I was kind of expecting to wait a bit after having read a few threads over on Talkbass. But I assumed part of the waiting time for the guys in the US was the international postage and customs process. It does seem a bit excessive considering I've had orders involving multiple custom pedals discussed, spec'd, made and delivered in under 2 weeks from other builders. I know their life doesn't revolve around my pedal but honestly, having handed over £119 of my childrens' inheritance over 3 weeks ago I'm getting rather impatient. I guess my impatience is made worse knowing that A) it isn't a custom order, and B ) I've seen a couple of used Thumpinators come and go in the classifieds during that time! The only thing keeping me sane is knowing that pretty much every Thumpinator user out there is thrilled with it - so at least I can be confident it'll be worth the wait...
14. Hey all. Just wondering, for those of you who have purchased a Micro Thumpinator direct from the SFX Sound website, how long did it take for it to arrive? I placed my order on the 2nd of June and have still heard nothing!!! Is this normal?! How can a pedal builder justify this much of a delay?
15. I seriously doubt these will be around for long!
16. Update - alas, I forgot it's a 5 string http://basschat.co.uk/topic/305975-yamaha-bb425-black-excellent-condition-now-l250/page__pid__3323651#entry3323651
17. Was going to suggest a BB424 myself but feared I might sound like a broken record. Good to see I'm not alone in thinking it's one of the best PJs out there! Was one for sale here not too long ago, and if memory serves, it was well under budget for the OP.
18. What's your budget? It's certainly possible to find a PJ with a jazz neck. I was about to suggest a fender blacktop jazz but that's double P config. There's also a very lovely looking Aerodyne Precision for sale here at the moment but the body looks decidedly un-contoured to me so that might be a deal breaker. Are you 100% set on Fender/Squier? Because some excellent alternatives can be found for equivalent or less money if you don't mind searching outside of the Fender pool.
19. Interesting to see that the super twin is almost as compact as the super compact!
20. Looks like a decent bargain to me if you're willing to collect from London. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263046502632
21. It could well be the same one. When watching on Netflix it seemed to end prematurely - credits rolling etc - then after a few seconds with a blank screen "part 2" began. It was all formatted as one long stream though.
22. I think I've been misread here somewhat. I'm nothing but amused at the auction - no animosity at all here. I genuinely found it funny and the thread title is firmly tongue in cheek!
