Hmmm. I've just shot Bright Onion an email to see whether it'll work with their Blender Looper. I've read some odd things about Boss LS2 tone suck. And I'm a bit dubious of a pedal which has remained in production unchanged since 1991! This may read as snobbery but I'm just being overly cautious! Anyway, things are in motion for the pedalboard plan. I've bought a new board as my platform, a load more cables, micro Thumpinator is pending, stage bug D.I. pending, a second Rockboard Power LT XL pending too to help deal with the extra pedal load. I'll be ordering my Smooth Hound shortly too but may need to invest in a Gigrig Isolator to give it a clean isolated power feed. It's pretty pricey at £59 though so I wonder if there are alternatives?

Yep I saw that SBL vid yesterday too - Sire are saying these are due to land around the 15th of July! Exciting times.

TKS 1126 for me. I only have one and I'm not sure I'd ever need 2 for anything other than aesthetic reasons - obviously depends on what kind of music/band you're dealing with. These things can seriously drink power though and pump out major lows so make sure you've got sufficient wattage to feed it! I'm running an 800watt head into mine @ 8 Ohms. The cab itself is somewhat bigger than most 112s though, mostly due to the added 6 inch driver but IMO it's worth it for the sound you get as a result. But ignore my suggestion for a moment - how are you going to be transporting your rig usually? If you drive then 2 cabs isn't THAT much more inconvenient than 2, assuming the parking situation is decent at the venues you play. If you're in any way reliant on public transport then I'd be tempted to suggest sticking with just the one cab, even if it's a heavier box (i.e. more drivers). Although I'm kinda speaking from my own somewhat specific experience of being 6'7" meaning that wearing my bass on my back is a no-no due to doorframee heights. So I only ever have one hand free to carry anything other than my bass. Your mileage is likely to vary!
Are you looking for nano/1590A sized pedals only? Personally I prefer the next size up but with top mounted jacks, they end up taking up the same amount of space as nano pedals once they're lined up. You could complete your line up with Aguilar pedals only, a TLC, Agro, Filter Twin and Chorusaurus! It would look pretty damn neat and be all analog, and the pedals would line up snug with no gaps. It won't be cheap however! An example I found (as you can see, the mini tuner takes up the same width as the bigger pedals due to the jacks): https://www.talkbass...-tuner.1104075/
Big +1 here on the suggestion for Aguilar pedals. Once you factor in even the lowest profile patch cables and a power supply, you really don't gain anything having nano sized pedals. Comparisons below... TC Electronic: Mooer: Joyo (Ironman series) next to TC nano for length comparison. The TC is about half an inch longer: Somehow the Joyo pedal with cables looks narrower than the Aguilar in the shot above but it's actually the same width!

I use a polytune clip too, but like you found myself wanting a killswitch on my Nano+ board. So as a workaround I just bought a micro killswitch pedal and am loving it so far. It has latching and momentary switches in case I ever feel the need to do any stutter effects...unlikely but nice to have the option I guess. I suppose a polytune mini or similar sized tuner would kill two birds with one stone though.

Very useful stuff, thanks guys. I didn't realise it was possible to just use the Return on a looper without the Send being connected to anything. Great! Presumably any looper will do this i.e. not exclusive to the LS-2? Also, having pondered a bit more, I think it would make a bit more sense to put my preamp pedal before the loop switcher so it only shapes the "unmeatboxed" signal and not the overall blend. This is a bit more practical in terms of tone shaping and still leaves Scenario 2 (in my original post) unaffected. See below:

After spending most of yesterday researching, this afternoon I set about planning out the structure for the board idea I have floating around in my head. I want a board which will mostly be used for bass but which will eventually serve double duty as effects for a synth as well (possibly Novation Bass Station 2 or similar). I've been scratching my head regarding the routing as it is quite specific. It all revolves around my DOD Meatbox and its TRS output. I have two main routing scenarios. Scenario One - At home/on stage without PA support. I want to run it parallel to the rest of the effects in my chain and be able to mix it in to taste at the end of my signal path. The blended signal would then be going to an amp. Scenario Two - On stage with decent PA support OR 2 channel audio recording. For these occasions I want the ability to D.I. a solo wet Meatbox signal out to the desk, leaving the rest of my "unmeatboxed" signal going through the rest of my board to an amp and/or DI'd to a second channel at the desk. It's a bit complicated and I've spent much of the past 24 hours staring blankly into the distance while my brain overheats trying to work out the best way of achieving all this, but at last I think I've mostly worked it out. In the diagram below I've tried to illustrate it as logically as possible: If I do go wireless for my bass(es) it'll almost certainly be a Smooth Hound system . Eventually with a second transmitter for bass #2. I specifically want an AB switcher with a volume control to attenuate the hot output from whatever synth/keys I plug into that channel. Something like this: http://www.brightonion.co.uk/products/AB-Switch-with-Volume-Control.html The Splitter and D.I. after the Meatbox could potentially be merged into one box if I went for a Radial Stage Bug SB2: http://www.radialeng.com/stagebugsb2.php I'm pretty sure that I'll need some kind of mini mixer pedal and NOT a loop switcher for the point at which the Meatbox signal merges with the signal from the rest of my effects just before the preamp. The Meatbox input will already be in use, which surely makes a traditional loop switcher redundant here? I may have to see if I could get Bright Onion (or similar pedal building wizards like Wee Lush FX etc.) to make something like this but with 2 ins and 1 out: http://www.brightonion.co.uk/blender-looper/ Does this setup look like it will work? Is there anything I haven't considered? Am I mad for wanting to do this?

Check out a Pedaltrain Metro 20 or 24. Should give you enough space for one more pedal and maybe more. Also, the T Rex Tonetrunk Minor might be a good shout - very similar in form to a Nano Plus but a few inches longer, slightly wider and tall enough to get a much better selection of power supplies under it than any of the PT Nano or Metro series! On a side note, what patch cables are you using? I use EBS flat cables and the difference between using them vs. Normal (larger) patch cables quickly adds up and can mean you gain space for the extra pedal you need. Will be a ton cheaper than buying a new board too.

It certainly isn't helping! On the subject of finance deals, I'm not seeing that on my end. I run eBay via the app on my iPhone/iPad so maybe it just shows up as an option on the website itself?

These are pretty rare these days - maybe of interest to someone. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122520132935

I too have (and enjoy) my recently purchased Spectracomp. Recently saw that TC are releasing a hyper gravity mini though, so I'd be interested in seeing the differences. At the moment the only obvious difference to me is that the HG mini has 3 Little knobs on the front panel vs the Spectra's 1. Presumably the TonePrints will be much more guitar oriented too.

That wine red and white scratchplate make a mighty fine pairing. Neck dive must be an issue though? Though being Mike Lull, perhaps he's performed some kind of magic balancing witchcraft to address this?

I also have an X2 and it works trouble-free but I know what you mean about the recorded loops having a slightly different tone.

Good value gig bag that could hold an Aguilar th350 head
CameronJ replied to DanH71's topic in Accessories and Misc
Big thumbs up here for a Protection Racket deluxe bass case. Rigid foam case, plenty of protection, and big pockets (especially on the deluxe version) which will easily hold your Aguilar plus a load of extra stuff you might want to take with you. The Gator ProGo cases sound similarly functional and I've heard good things about them too. Either of the two I've suggested will cost less than the equivalent Mono bag! -
hi everyone I'm a long time reader, first time poster - but I have just completed my first bitsa 'Fender' Precision Bass. Mighty Mite neck from ebay - never mounted but gloss (probably poly) finish and a decal already applied - the plan was a '62 clone but I couldn't find a cheap neck with 7.25" profile so I had to settle for 9". Body is from guitarbuild website - made in uk - 3 piece Alder; I've finished it in a tru oil. Original Fender parts for most of the hardware: vintage bridge, vintage tuning machines, original '62 pickup, string tree, strap buttons, neck plate Cheap knobs and scratchplate (celluloid top) Strung with Rotosound 77s I'm pretty pleased with it...
Ooh now that's my kinda P!

*sigh* I have the Smooth Hound website permanently open in a tab on my iPad and I keep hovering over the buy button. I'm literally looking for reasons not to buy one but seem to be failing miserably. It's only a matter of time before I give in to temptation
