  1. I'm in a bit of a strange situation. I love my amp & cab. They do everything I want/need and more. The trouble is visually I don't feel like they match up. Observe below: A handsome looking head. A beautiful tweed cab. But together they look a bit like I've tried to build an amp rig out of lego! Ideally I'd have a more neutral coloured head so the cab can be the focal point. Now I'm not exactly a master craftsman so I wonder if I'd be able to get someone to the refinish the faceplate in black/grey whilst retaining the lettering for the controls? Has anyone attempted a similar mod? Am I crazy for wanting to do this?
  2. Oh man that is serious bass porn. Though after a few searches it doesn't seeem like Yamaha ever extended the maple board love to the 5 stringer a real tragedy. On a side note - any suggestions on where I could get a red tort pickguard made for this??
  3. Why thank you. I think so too There's some wear on the neck which I'm told actually improves the feel...we shall see. I'll be posting an update and new pics once I've had a chance to have a proper play in person.
  4. Right. I've laid down the ducats for this baby. 450 ducats to be precise. I should be receiving her by the end of the week fingers crossed! Pics from the seller: I can't wait :-O
  5. This has lived unused and immaculate in its box for quite some time now. Bought for a project which never came to fruition. 6. Looks like these are becoming rarer to find on the used market these days. Fantastic Swiss Army knife multi fx with amp sims, DI out, tuner, looper, drum machine and audio interface. Glowing reviews all over the web for these units. Sadly, I've barely used mine since buying it used about a year ago so I'd rather see it go to a loving home. Comes boxed with original power supply (no manual) £95 collection/meet up (I'm based in West London but happy to meet around London) Or £100 posted
  7. Only owned for around 9 months and barely used at all in that time despite being a very capable pedal. It's in immaculate condition as you can see - I haven't even removed the plastic film on the screen! Velcro on bottom. Comes boxed with original power supply and manuals/paperwork. Price drop £70 posted
  8. I wish they had maple boards too, though I've definitely seen a picture of a 2025 with a maple board but it was incredibly rare if I recall.
  9. Alas, a 2025x is somewhat out of my reach right now but a lovely vintage white 1025x has appeared on my radar!
  10. The old saying "you learn something new every day" springs to mind! I have to ask though, is the effect any different to actually turning the tweeter level knob on the back of the cab?
  11. [quote name='markstuk' timestamp='1485110748' post='3221190'] Can you illuminate how the tweetertone only works with TC cabs ? :-) [/quote] Does it work with any old non-TC gear too? If so, that changes things somewhat. In which case, my bad.
  12. I've actually just been reading some of your old posts re: your 1025 Danny. It's only adding fuel to the already raging fire.
  13. [quote name='therealting' timestamp='1485119608' post='3221365'] The one reason I can think of for not buying it is that occasionally they come up for sale secondhand, and those are ASTONISHING bargains. [/quote] I have my eye on one of those astonishing bargains as we speak! Gives me even less reason to say no.
  14. Ha! I figured this would be the general response. My first bass was a Yamaha so I know of their legendary build quality first hand. I suppose I'd better take the plunge then...
  15. Evening folks, So this afternoon I took a trip down to the Yamaha Music store in Central London to have a look at their wares. Many a lovely instrument on show. Out of curiosity I asked if I could have a play on a lovely looking BB1025x hanging on the wall, to which the very helpful sales guy obliged. He hooked me up to a Hartke combo, explained the controls and left me to my own devices. I had a noodle for about 5 minutes and was floored by just how good it was. It really nailed the sound I aim for when EQing my other (active) basses but achieved it with just a bit of roll off on the tone knob. Those P/J pickups are seriously no slouch - the bass is completely passive and yet had a noticeably hotter output than the active TRB hanging next to it! Plus the neck and setup was one of the nicest I've ever laid hands on, it played like butter. So I guess my question is, can anyone think of a reason I shouldn't buy it?? I'm sure my wallet will thank you...
  16. I've got to give the BH550/800 heads from TC a strong mention too as they sound fantastic and if you don't care much for dragging a pedalboard around it has 2 TonePrint effects slots built in. You do sacrifice the Tweetertone and illuminated knobs of the RH series but as the tweetertone feature only works with TC's own cabs I'd question how useful a feature it really is in the grand scheme of things. You'll save a fair bit of cash going the BH route too which leaves more for the cabs ;-)
  17. Hi Jay, On the individual page for each photo there should be a share icon which looks like a curved arrow. Click that and copy the "BBCode" link into your original post. You'll have to do that for each photo separately but it should work!
  18. My TKS 1126 is rock solid! I can only imagine these are of similar quality. GLWTS
  19. Bump for an incredible pedal (assuming it hasn't sold yet). the octave filter and clean tone knobs are a dream! GLWTS
  20. Greetings fellow Basschatters! So as the title suggests, I've been lurking this wonderful forum for quite some time...at least 4 years if memory serves. Bit of an alarming statistic. I've picked up many nuggets of gold from you guys and drooled over a lot of your gear in silence but this afternoon I thought to myself "what the hell, I may as well speak up and be heard!" I also have a few bits to sell (effects, a keyboard, maybe even a bass or two) so no doubt you'll be seeing at least a couple of my ads in the gear classifieds forum in the coming weeks. Lots O' Love, CameronJ
