I saw these the other day. To be honest I’d been eyeing the LB100s up for a while anyway but then I saw the even further reduced prices (as you say, the previous prices were already fantastic value) and now my GAS has risen exponentially. Despite the fact I have no need for another 4 string bass as I mainly play 5s! Oh and I just bought another Dingwall. Still. The white LB100 with blocks is painfully tempting

I’m Still Waiting by Diana Ross. Yet another James Jamerson fingerboard workout. Got to play it twice a day every day for 2 months over the Panto season and my god...what a challenge.

+1 D’Addario EXLs are really nice strings. Certainly a good place to start.

More questions. Do you care about size/portability? Will you be wanting to use it as a recording interface too? Is iPhone/Android compatibility important to you? Will you at any stage want to use it without plugging into a mains wall socket?

Actually, I bought it to use with my synthy effects board. I was planning to get Jon Shuker to install an Aguilar Octamizer pedal into the control cavity of mine but I didn’t do it in the end as it’s just as easy keeping the pedal on my board along with my other octavers/filters/fuzzes etc. Also, it’s small enough to fly with and carry on as hand luggage (once all this Corona bollocks dies down!)

Nope. They sound like you’ve put a capo at the 12th fret of your full-scale 6 string bass. Still sounds like a bass!

I’ve got a Razer Blade Pro 17” Absolute powerhouse machine that I use for everything. Gaming-wise I can run any AAA title on High or Ultra settings with no problems. It has a thunderbolt 3 port in addition to the usual USB ports so you can use thunderbolt 3 (and USB-C) audio interfaces like the Universal Audio Arrow or new Arturia Audiofuse range for example. It has a hybrid storage setup too. A 256gb SSD drive and a 2tb HDD. I’ve got a ton of files on it and I’m yet to run out of space, though I always install game files to the larger HDD to free up the SSD. To clarify, mine is the 2017 model with the trackpad off to the right of the keyboard. The newer 2019 model has the trackpad in the more traditional centre location and has different specs.
