  1. Ooft. Worcester sauce and mature cheddar on your Cobalts. That’ll get your tone nice and funky.
  2. Haha! I’m currently in Zürich so it’s actually 12.30 on a Friday night
  3. Thomann have their own branded everything And to be fair, a lot of it seems to be of pretty decent quality!
  4. I may need to try light gauge Cobalts at some point...!
  5. From what I’ve heard in @ped‘s demo, I think the Cobalts are brighter than the Dunlop’s. Reckon you made the right decision Lee!
  6. TIs are in the category of brighter flatwounds, however if I’m not mistaken @lee650 knows EB Cobalts pretty well?
  7. Anyone who's watched BassTheWorld videos on youtube will at some point have drooled over their selection of very cool instruments. I stumbled upon this video where Gregor Fris talks about 15 of his favourite basses, with some lovely playing from René Flächsenhaar and Lars Lehmann as always! It's a long one but worth a watch. Enjoy. For those of you who don't have the time to spare, here's a heavily stripped down version with no chit-chat:
  8. @TJ Spicer I totally agree - my BB735A is one of the only black basses that I’ve truly loved the look of! The matte finish is just so classy
  9. How is the Gigboard for bass? I’ve got a Line 6 HX Stomp myself but have been intrigued by the Headrush stuff too.
  10. Could be one of Chris Stambaugh’s own builds? The shape (particularly the upper horn) doesn’t look like any of the Wing variants.
  11. Thanks! Turns out they mistakenly dyed it blue rather than the black I specified...it does look cool but blue has never been my colour. So I’m gonna ask them to redo it I’m now wondering whether I should have just gone for a straight P pup rather than the PJ now...
  12. After much delay (apparently Aguilar haven’t been particularly helpful in supplying my pickups) Andy Brown has sent me an “in progress” shot of my Wing!
  13. Thinking of this as my new compact Stomp setup:
  14. It wouldn’t surprise me. They didn’t exactly commit to it to begin with, given that it never seemed to be in stock anywhere - most shops simply claiming it could be “special ordered”
  15. Looks great! Is it me or do the knobs seem purple in those photos? Like a deep deep aubergine. It’s probable just the light!
  16. One of these on eBay at the moment! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F254236730665

  18. I can totally vouch for the grolsch washers or Fender strapblock solution. They really do work, and won’t wear out like traditional strap locks do. Best thing is, you get to keep the original strap pins on the bass. I also use Comfort Strapps which have a kind of strap block system built in as part of the design. Zero issues and zero worries!
  19. This is a very good question. I guess I’d always assumed that it was less of a concern on fretless given that it’s...well...fretless. Finger positioning can be adjusted slightly in a way that frets can’t. Ignoring the above, use harmonics.
