  1. Ooh, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a solid colour Sputnik before!
  2. @ordep Yes, you can use one of each. And I also recommend the Dunlop DVP mini as an expression pedal.
  3. Forgot to add - Lakland Skyline 44-64. All passive. P/J pickups. Lovely slim neck.
  4. Yamaha BB434 - all passive. P & J pickups. Yamaha BB734a - 3 band preamp, switchable to passive with a tone control in passive mode. P & J pickups. Sire P7 - 3 band preamp, switchable to passive with a tone control. Sandberg Electra VS4 - 2 band active preamp, switchable to passive but with no tone control in passive mode. Personally, I’d go for one of the Yamahas.
  5. I forgot about the SVT4! Thanks for the reminder
  6. Yeah I thought it was primarily the “Helix core” OS optimisation stuff 🤷🏾‍♂️
  7. Ah, yes. Makes sense. The new tuner features were most welcomed by the Helix community at release. It’s very good.
  8. Ah ok I have that. For a minute I thought I’d missed something huge! Searching all over the internet and FB groups
  9. Wait, what do you mean by instant tuners? I need to read the release notes...
  10. I won’t comment on sound as the camera audio + YouTube compression etc will never give an accurate sense of what’s its like in the room, but based on aesthetics alone I really like the rig. Ignoring the infamous yellow MarkBass cones which I’m not totally enamoured with, the slim array “tops” are glorious. Definitely gives the stage a much more open feel which I like from an audience’s perspective but which I imagine also feels quite nice as a performer on stage.
  11. I’ll have to re-test this now that I own P-loaded basses. When I first got the Octamizer my only bass was an Ibanez BTB33 which has soap bars. Analogue octavers are not the biggest fan of soap bars or anything that isn’t a P pickup so I’ll be interested to do a side by side comparison now that I have P options. Still, whether or not its limit is an A or not, I still maintain that anything lower than a low A rapidly falls into inaudible territory (in terms of accurately perceiving the pitch) and loses musical usefulness.
  12. The V9s were “premium” enough while still sitting in a reasonably affordable area of the market. The V7s and V3s must vastly outsell the V9s so why they’ve felt the need for an even higher price tier is beyond me. They’re now competing with the likes of Lakland Skylines, Dingwall Combustions and even Sandberg Californias. Seems like a questionable business decision but what do I know!
  13. Someone’s going to be very happy when they get their hands on this. Fantastic bass.
  14. Never thought much of the original, but...
  15. Haha thanks Bas. Worry not, I shout it from the rooftops over on Voxchat
  16. I’m an actor by day, on tour with a musical at the moment. As a result, it’s impossible to be in a band as I’m in a different city each week and have performances at the times gigs would be. Not ideal but I bring a bass and my Stomp on the road with me to try and keep the chops up. I’m actually getting the odd lesson here and there with our show bassist @mikenichols! Believe me, the Stomp will be gigged the first opportunity I get.
  17. Truth. Mine has so far only seen bedroom/living room use so far. Like @Al Krow I will have no hesitation gigging it when the time arises!
  18. To be fair, if you love your backline tone and don’t ever need to go direct to desk...or don’t have much need for the Stomp’s Audio/MIDI interface and practice amp capabilities...you still have a vast wealth of effects and routing options. Selling the pedals you mentioned would pretty much pay for the Stomp and give you a load of extras, should you ever need them.
