  1. Wow! Some beautiful instruments there! I bet they all sound killer too. What’s the single coil 5 string P bass in the middle?
  2. Exactly. The 2 halves of a P pickup do the equivalent job of adding 2 J pups together. The hum cancelling J pups on the market are either split coil or stacked coil “under the hood”, not dissimilar to a P pickup.
  3. That’ll be because a P pickup is effectively a humbucker. The more “J” you add, the more hum you’ll get!
  4. To mask the pickup routing perhaps...?
  5. In the past, the premium SRs and BTBs all shared the same pickups and preamps but now the newer premium models differ. Premium SRs still have Nordstrands but Premium BTBs are now loaded with Aguilars.
  6. For the budget you speak of, two things spring to mind for me. 1. HX Stomp. Full of guitar and bass amps for you to tweak to your heart’s content. 2. Phil Jones Double Four, so you can play literally anywhere and get a bloody good sound doing it.
  7. Somewhat off-topic but MICHAEL LEAGUE ALERT!! I’ve been waiting so long for him to feature in an SBL lesson. I hope he’ll be leading a new course but that may be wishful thinking. Likely just an interview. Still, very cool.
  8. Very cool! And a lovely colour too.
  9. PURPLE PEARL?! Oh god...have you any pictures of this unicorn bass? I feel a flood of GAS coming on...
  10. The MXR Preamp is fantastic. Transparent, compact and very easy to use. No complaints from me when I owned one!
  11. I had this exact situation arise a couple of years and, after a brief flirt with a couple of options, settled on a Phil Jones Double Four. Utterly fantastic sounding piece of kit - and I play 5ers pretty much exclusively so the sound of those lowest notes was key to me. It handles my B string with ease (I even run octavers and synth sounds through it) yet it’s the size of a shoebox. Proper, full bass sound. No idea how Phil Jones have managed such a feat. In my opinion it’s the best truly small amp on the market if practise and small jams are your primary concern. It’ll happily fit on/under a desk, on a chest of drawers, under a bed - pretty much anywhere. Just don’t expect to be doing serious gigs with it as it does have a limit. As a side note, it doesn’t have any overdrive or other effects on board (since you say you’ll use it for guitar too) so you’ll need to plug pedals in if you want that kind of thing.
  12. Makes sense. Strap the woojer to your boots?
  13. To clarify, this is the original B3 and not the newer B3n? Have you tried uninstalling all B3 related drivers/software and reinstalling it from scratch?
  14. Good advice from @chris_b. There was a pair of TKS 112s going for sale on here a little while ago for a very reasonable price - I think they may still be available. Really great cabs made in Sweden. @mcnach and @wateroftyne can confirm!
  15. I’d quite like to try a Woojer. And a Backbeat. And a Subpac. I’ll never be able to compare all 3 in one room though, sadly.
  16. Sadly, this doesn’t surprise me.
  17. Very cool! I wonder what the fidelity of the audio is like?
