Get yourself a Digitech Bass Synth Wah! The solo’d octave down sound alone is worth the ~£60 it’ll cost you. Digital pedal but sounds much better than many digital octavers out there.
In all honesty, buying a cheap precision will give you the fastest, most consistent results. And you may even love the P bass enough to use it without the T16 too!
Probably not. It’s the inherent characteristics of that kind of pickup in that position which analogue octavers just don’t like very much. Digital octavers won’t mind it but as we all know they aren’t as juicy sounding!
Try it out with a different rig or through headphones just to be sure. What bass do you usually use through the T16? I have to say that I can’t imagine that Spector’s tone behaving particularly well with octavers, generally. I was looking into them recently as I think they’re beautiful looking basses but hearing some sound demos I thought “that isn’t gonna work well with my octave/synth setup at all!”
Stumbled across this just now - Software modelled guitar Amps/FX, digital Hammond organ and electronic drums. Sadly no bass guitar but still. I bet these guys had a wonderfully chilled load in/out.
Playing starts around 2:45. Who can deny it sounds great??
It’s a Thomas Lieber creation - https://www.talkbass.com/threads/fender-stratocaster-bass.111120/page-6#post-21725965

Tapes are glorious - I’ve never tried the Status ones but I have some LaBella Black Nylon Tapes and absolutely love em. I think I actually prefer tapewounds to flatwounds in feel.
I had a very similar experience with one of my Sandbergs. I emailed them directly asking to purchase a replacement - they sent me a replacement tuner with no fuss, from Germany, free of charge.
The specs and even the shape of the thing suggest to me that it’s aimed squarely at guitarists. I suspect this won’t do a great job with bass at all...
Ha! It would indeed. Though installation would be more of a challenge. A Matryoshka however would fit in the control cavity with plenty of room to spare!
