1. I had my hearing tested at work about 4 weeks ago in a sealed booth with big headphones on. My results were excellent, so if your worried go get a propper test done. What!!!
2. My first was 'Sunshine of your love' by Cream. An ace song And my last was' Sad but true' by Metallica for last nights gig
3. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bedlam/153991889810 Hi Folks, see if this works
4. Hi Folks, some great comments and tips on here, especially the contraceptives. My mrs was there so nothing going on their, well not till I got home anyway The gig was awsome!!!!!!!! So many people, 150ish. All dancing and headbanging and cheering . I made a few f***-ups, but so did everyone else and no one noticed. My heads buzzin. Till the next one Cheers, Hitchy
5. Cheers for all the tips and replies folks. The pub where we rehearse, up-stairs in a big room, let us practice down-stairs where we'r gonna be saturday night. 15-20 locals cheering and clapping, all said we were sh*t-hot!! It was like a mini gig. Can't wait till tomorrow night, I'm buzzin now. I'll let ya all know how it went. Thanks, Hitchy.
6. Hi All, I'v been on here a while now and enjoyed reading all thats going on. It's my big night next saturday (20th) as my band perform our 1st gig!!! I'm about as ready as i'll ever be, and feeling quite confidant. I just thought I'd ask you seasoned players if you have any last minute tips?? Cheers, Hitchy
7. I want to put in a good word for the guys at PMT in Birmingham. They were great when I went to them to buy a cab and head. I had a few problems with the cab and they sorted it out straight away, and they ring you back when they say they will
8. I'v messed up Are you gonna go my way too. The bass bit that acompanys the guitar solo. Now I have a phobia of that song, although last night I nailed it
9. Thanks for all the replys. I'v only had the cab maybe 2 months, I'm gonna take it back to the shop first thing in the morming and demand my money back. The idiot should have known what he was selling me, I bought a Carlsbro head off him at the same time and took that back the same day because it was'nt working properly ( second hand). I tried the cab with one of his bass's in the shop, so he knew what I wanted. The Twat!!!!
10. Hi all, I am currently using a Carlsbro 4x12 cab and an Ashdown EB180 115 combo on top, conected together. This works well and I'v got a great sound, but I don't want to cart around the Ashdown combo as well when we start gigging. I want to DI straight into the mixer and am looking for a head to cut down on space/weight. I'm thinking of the Marshall MB450H head, my mates got one and says it's good. I don't understand Watts and ohms and what means what!! My Carlsbro vintage 4x12 says 120 watts, 16 ohms. Is this good or bad, and will a 450watt head sound ace with this cab. Thanks in advance, Hitchy.
11. Thanks for the replys folks. Yes, it has worked out very nicely indeed, and this new drummer is coming down for an all day session on the 29th.
12. I had a tx off our drummer this morning and he's thrown in the towl !!! Time to move on with this other drummer, he is really good and he is only 18 years old!!!
13. I'm just going to have a moan and get this off my chest !!! I'v known my drummer for about a year now, we started off this band with two of his mates, who have both left early on. We have had alot of members in the band over the past year, mainly because they were ( according to the drummer) crap, did'nt fit or did'nt like Status Quo!! The problem is that now we have a good lineup, still only have 8 songs after a year because of all the people coming and going, and he is starting to moan about guys in the band again. We have booked a gig for 12th Feb and agreed a setlist, but at last Tuesday's rehearsal threw a wobbler and walked out. The guy is doing my head in, nothing is ever right and he's so negetive about everything!! It was our singers last gig on saturday and their drummer is f***in ace, and is interested in joining us :-) If we stay with this guy we are not going anywhere, I think we are going to have to politley tell him to f*** off!! What do you think??? Cheers Hitchy
14. Well i'v gotta say that i'm starting to get pissed off with BGM, it used to be a good read with well priced products reviewed. Now all the bass's are in the thousend's ££ and i think it's lost it's way, not enough stuff for a once a month mag so their filling it with sh*t. Go back to every 2 months BGM, and lets have some decent content!!!!
15. Hey Tenfloors, that aviator of yours is f*ckin ace man
16. This is off topic a bit, but I have an in line foot peddle tuner. A Behringer TU300 off ebay for £5, it's been fantastic
17. We had one singer who had SIX weeks to learn 6 songs, he rang a week before the audition to make sure it was still on and kept saying how he really really wanted to be in a band. The night in question, did he turn up? Did he f***!! The W@&ker And what is it with guitards, they all make out they'r dead good, and when we start to play they are bloody rubbish!! O well, keep smiling
18. Here in Crewe we pay £20 from 5pm till 11pm. It's got full recording gear, fridge for beers, microwave, sofa, full PA and use of a drum kit if needed. Check out www.barn4bands.com
19.
120 watts is not enough to survive realistically with a band with a normal drummer and a few guitarists in a club or pub. So I'd say your first step is to add an extension speaker cab to get the full 180 watts and to shift more air (and look cooler) or upgrade to 300+ watts as a minimum. Ideally you want to run your amp nowhere near flat out or you get into (non optional) distortion and stuff.
On it's own my EB is not enough, the owner of our rehearsal barn says I can use his 4x10 cab so I never have to use my combo past half volume anyway Cheers for all the advice guys, it's much appreciated.
20.
What size and type of PA are you talking about?
We have'nt got a PA of our own yet, but the place we rehearse has a PA setup. Only the singer has used it, I don't know what make or spec it is. I must pay more attention!! We are not gigging yet, but are getting close
21. It's an Electric Blue 180, yes it has a DI output. I was told this was for recording and once conected no sound would emit from the speaker.
22. Hello fellow bassmasters, In a gig situation do you just use your amps for sound or do you mic up a smaller amp/combo and put it through your PA. My Ashdown combo has a 'Tuner/Line' output socket, can I plug a line in here and plug into a PA and just use my Ashdown as a backline or shall I have to get a bigger amp setup? I need some help here to understand the best way to go about setting up my rig. Cheers Hitchy
23. Welcome to the darkside Mate. Playing in a covers band will help you to play all kinds of styles.
24. Like the man said PMT are really good and helpfull. They have a large range of amps too
25. Well done mate. You will find as time goes on, stuff you once found difficult you will be able to play with ease. Keep pluging away dude
