1. I was very fortunate to grab a ticket to the O2 last night. Having seen Metallica a few times before I thought they might have lost a few paces, but I was wrong! I’m massively impressed with this venue. My standing ticket left me well under 20 feet from the microphone, and yet I had fantastic sound quality. With a huge back catalogue, there was too much stuff off the current album, and not enough variety for my taste. However, you could see the youthful crowd might not be familiar with all of it. I felt like an OAP. Anyway, this is still a great band with a great performance by all members (no-one expects Lars to become a great drummer so I’ll let that go). Robert Trujillo absolutely nailed it, underpinning the vibe in a massive muscular way. For me he’s the ultimate metal bass player, precise, fast, and with a great live sound both in the solos and the anthems. Big respect. I’ll try to post some of the photos I took. Trujillo switched from Spector to Warwick to a heavily reliced Fender Jazz, but my favourite was the transparent blue Warwick 5er. Obviously not an off-the shelf item, it had just one knob and possibly a badass bridge. Gorgeous kit. Bottom line: this was a great rock show, sceptics beware because Metallica still kick serious arse!
2. I have an Ashdown one which works well and is available for not much!
3. Try RS... 4. Worth checking the values of those cabs.... my guitarist would pay good money for a 1933.
5. sorted!
6. Price drop bump
7. If anyone's worried, I should point out that I paid the full asking price without quibbling.
8. Ok, I think I might have just got the best Gumtree deal ever. This might be a good day to hang up my boots and delete the app. On the face of it, a low powered amp and matching cab from the mid 80s might not be much use, especially when advertised as faulty. The price did reflect that though. So I wanted the amp sleeve for my new OB1, and it fits perfectly! There's £30 minimum saved already. The amp itself look in good nick but I will probably send it for a once-over before powering up. I wish today's amps had built-in crossovers.... But the15" cab is a real beaut. Super sturdy construction, elephant hide, smoky pub smell from bygone ages, even brass feet! Label says 8 ohm 250w rms, and hooked up to my current amp it sounds glorious, even down to low Bb. Opening up the back, the driver was not what I expected: Celestion S15-250. If anyone can tell me is this is the standard driver or anything else about it I'd be grateful. Will upload the obligatory pix asap after I finish patting myself on the back.
9. Loving my OB1-500. I can't talk to the AD200 though. Through my barefaced four10 it is huge sounding, both clean and with varying degrees of dirt blended in. Loudest rig I've ever owned. I think it may be a bit marmite, but for rock music I think it's the knackers. I think this isn't the first Orange gas thread in recent times. My guess is that the new Four stroke has something to do with it.
10. Good enough for Dave Ellefson. Now where can I find a lefty one?
11. I like this.... https://webshop.cashconverters.co.uk/auction-item/1580022/jackson-js3qm-blue-bass-guitar
12. Got my Marshall combo on the for sale list right now. Cheap as chips!
13. Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have the same problem with my OB1. I want a rack case or a sleeve that isn't too deep since my cab is shallow. My existing 2u flight case (a) is way too deep and ( won't allow the amp in due to the rubber feet! Is it ok to remove the feet? Anyone have experience with the Pulse 2u sleeve? £25 from loads of places but I'd rather have somethingg shallower. Cheers

15. Check the tyre pressure first. If your load is as much as four adults then inflate to full load prssure. For safety put the heaviest (most dense) items central (between the axles) and low, evenly distributed. E.g. Flightcased power amps. Cabs are much less dense. Where possible stand units tall rather than flat. Use rubber matting to minimise sliding. Consider gig bags rather than flight cases if space is really tight. When fully loaded consider the fallout in the event of braking hard. You can get massive amounts of gear into most vehicles, with effort. Far more than is safe if the weather turns poor. However, I don't like trailers myself, I'd take two cars or hire a bigger vehicle.

Orange Gas

Here - this will help with your GAS... it fixed mine!
17. Bought some bits and bobs from Simon. Nice and easy to deal with, exactly as described and sent promptly with proper packaging. What more can I say? Cheers Simon. Jim
18.
If that's the case you want the 210 on top, so that you'll hear if it's distorting before the drivers are endangered. For equal power distribution the 410 impedance should be half that of the 210 impedance. However, in most cases they're both loaded with 8 ohm drivers, with the 410 impedance 8 ohms, the 210 impedance 4 ohms. The correct arrangement would be to have the 210 drivers series wired for 16 ohms, but that's seldom the case.
Worth considering a high wattage 2x10 4-ohm to add to an existing 8-ohm 4x10. Just rewire the 2x10 as series instead of parallel to make it 16-ohm. If you want to continue to use it as a 4-ohm cab, wire each driver to one connector on the plate, and then employ a series cable for 16-ohm or run two cables in parallel for 4-ohm. Now to find the money for that nice Eden 2x10.....
19. This may not help, but I recall that Warmoth offered an Iceman body.... I've never seen a 5er. However the fours are not that hard to come by.
20. I had one and sold it here. It was a lovely instrument which I would certainly have kept if it was lefty.
21. I just bought an Orange amp from Rich. Perfect transaction, and a thoroughly decent and knowledgeable gent. This piece of kit is apparently two years old, but it is as-new unmarked condition. Buy with confidence! Cheers Rich!
22. Gumtree has sold me some more junk. This time it's an unloved jazz by Aria. However, I'd never had a jazz before, and it seemed to be intact so money changed hands. Just spent an hour cleaning her up, replacing the strings etc. Decided to remove the white pickguard too. Seems to have very light fretwire, almost like a mandolin. Not quite what I'm used to, but playable nevertheless. A ham-fisted setup will happen shortly. If anyone can tell me the origin (China, Korea, Indonesia probably) I'd be obliged. Pictures if anyone insists. Plugged in it is a really nice thing! Great tone and way more character than I expected. Thanks Gumtree!
