1. I'm in
2. If you like the genre.... here's a Grammy winner: https://youtu.be/zucK_h2zYwk
3. What's the impedance and power rating of the cab? I seem to find a lot of confusion over those details when thumbing the archive.
4. Makes sense.... I'm not normally one to avoid the logical answer. Isn't it time we had switchable impedance cabs like many guitar cabs? I.e. The 4x10 can be 8 ohms (serial-parallel) or 2 ohms (all parallel). Anyway, is this the reason my trousers are not flapping?
5. I had a feeling I'd hear that Dave. Care to expand? Alex from barefaced advised that it was ok, although obviously the cab could be reconfigured as 2-ohm.
6. Hey BCers. Happy almost xmas shopping anxiety season. Just wanted to write a few lines about my new (old) amp, and get some advice. I swapped my TC BH800 with Calum of this parish for his SVT-II non-pro. It was a good deal and this thread isn't bemoaning that at all. The SVT sounded a bit weak when I got it, and I felt like it was salvageable using my reliable amp tech Raphael Sutcliffe (Sutcliffe Amplification, Waterlooville). Upon testing he found several problems including four duff power tubes. Thanks to OBBM Dave we replaced those with matching Sveltanas and I got it back all fixed up on Tuesday. The SVT is hooked up to my barefaced four10 (8-ohm), and the consensus so far is that it's ok using the 4-ohm tap. The sound is really something else than I've heard before. It rings more like a bell than a bass. Cranking it up can give me an angry Geezer or even a full Lemmy. Inspiring stuff! [Insert heft remark here] My only concern is this: I thought it would be louder. I've taken it to 3 o'clock on the dial and it's loud but not nuclear. With other amps (incl the aforementioned BH800) I've found this cab is really loud, and I've tried switching to a 4-ohm cab instead (noticeably quieter) just to be sure. This has been a reasonably expensive experiment so far, so before I splash out on more gear (Lozz's two10 for example) I'd thought I'd sound out the BC continuum. Where's my volume? Cheers Jim
7. Monster ampeg cab currently available (nothing to do with me): https://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/ampeg-bass-cab/1202391840?utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_ios&utm_medium=social&utm_source=sms

4x15

Yeah, I know that's all true, but it still makes me grin thinking about it (with my SVT on top). I have a bunch of "spare" 15" drivers and I bet someone somewhere has an empty 4x15 shell sat disused somewhere. PS. If anyone has a redundant 2x15 please get in touch.

4x15

Surely this is a good idea! Has anyone out there ever seen, heard or built one?
10. I concur with the 2x12 idea. How about this one: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/223936-tech-soundsystems-2x12-cab-price-inc-uk-pp/
11. I'm looking at buying an Ampeg Svt-2 all-valve amp. I believe the output selector is 4R or 2R only. However my main cab is a bf410 at 8R. Other than buying a second cab, will I be able to match this head with the cab without causing damage?
12. Tentatively listing my main amp here to fund a valve amp. Obviously open to swaps along those lines. This is a great bit of kit, very flexible and genuinely loud for class-d. The foot switch is an expensive piece of kit. I will include the stereo lead too, and if the price is right a carry case of sorts. I even have the original box. All in excellent condition. Collect in Hampshire or delivery at extra cost. Cheers Jim
13. I have the Ashdown pedal. To be honest it is a bit weak, as are the other Ashdown pedals! However, the envelope filter does hold its space on my pedal board because it gives me a big attack surge for the heavily distorted sound I need sometimes. I can't comment on the similarity to the other pedals mentioned on this thread. However, you're welcome to come and give it a test drive if you are near Hampshire.
14. Still for sale?
15. Hi Harry. Is it in bits yet?
16. Must say I think this is a really personal decision, incorporating the stuff you play and the way you play it. If you want a variation away from your precision then get out there and try everything* you can, but if not just get another p. I'm happy with my Peaveys and Warwick for hard rock sounds and rock-solid stability. *unless you're a lefty and then just choose one of the two basses on offer.
17. I hear you about the weight, but I have three 5 strings and they are all heavier. That aside, I never really noticed the weight of the stingray because the balance is really good - probably the best I've had.
18. Come on lefties - don't let eBay have it!
