1.
Nice! Always secretly fancied one of these. How do you find the pickups? Quite an odd one to put flats on.
This is a good question. I like the look of the pickup configuration, but plugged in the bridge pup is really weedy! On most of my basses I use both pups together to get my sound. This one, I'm only using the neck pup which does sound great. I'm not the sort of player who needs the "great range of tones" that are apparently a feature of every bass for sale, so no drama. By the way, the pickups were seriously high on this bass, just under the strings, to the extent that they were in the way of my fingertips! Soon fixed that! Having said all this the Vampyre does need a good setup. I'm happy with the action low down, but it buzzes out on the top half of the neck. Weird.
2. Cliff was my inspiration to play bass. Gigged "For whom the bell tolls" many times but nothing like the skills of the man himself: https://youtu.be/qdlQyNe_9tE
3. I can get on the bathroom scales if necessary! Do you want the guitar weight or the shipping weight including case? Google says 4.2 kilos (9lb 5oz) for the guitar. However it doesn't feel heavy next to my Warwick. Perfectly balanced.
4. Whereabouts are you located? Also, what happened to the logo?? Cheers
5. I've got several 5-strings, and they fit into my Ritter bag ok. However, I also have a "Roksak" gig bag which is much bigger, tons of room especially around the headstock. I actually prefer it to the Ritter in terms of protection. It looks like this: http://www.hollywood-music.co.uk/rok-sak-standard-bass-guitar-gig-bag/ I have no affiliation with Roksak or Hollywood Music.

7. I'm with Lozz. I use a compressor all the time for my sound, but when I need more dynamics for a lead part I just turn it off. For some basses you could flip between pickups, particularly if you have dual volume and/or tone controls.
8. No lefties out there for this stunning instrument? Happy to consider shipping....
9. Any idea what the power handling and impedance are? Cheers

11. Buy a replacement from Ashdown. The repair is surprisingly easy. I found the instructions via Google, not sure if they're on BC!
12. Considering parting with this. Lovely instrument, probably a bit good for me because I don't really feel the difference! Will add photos shortly, but you'll see them in my other lefty threads. Happy to deliver within 50 miles of Winchester.
13. I can't figure out which is which! Aside from the volume and bass boost there isn't much tonal variation.
14. Sadly I don't think this instrument is for me after all. When I pick up my 5 strings they just feel better. Keep an eye out for a bargain!

16. Got this pointy puppy this morning. Came with flat wounds (am I the only one who hates them?) but now adorned with shiny RS665LD. Also pleased with the purchase of a micrometer so I know what gauge I'm taking off. Happy metal all!
17. You're spot on about the treble. I almost regret the new Rotosounds. Currently running the treble at minimum on the 3EQ.
18. Great result.... I still need some though! Did you establish if these are generic or not? Thanks
19. Did I not see this on eBay recently? Assumed it had gone!
20. Got one of these myself and it's a winner. Damn loud through my bf 410. Wotcha waiting for people?
21. This is definitely my hobby and escape from the real world. If I never make a penny from it but have fun I couldn't care less!
22. Great thread! I have the exact same problem (albeit a 4-string). Who knows the answer? Cheers Jim
23.
The TC BH250 seems to tick all your boxes in terms of portability, affordability and tone.
+1 for this. I'm very happy with my BH800 as my main amp. Extremely flexible.
