Hmmm, I obviously read this thread, and I didn't notice too many negative posts about RB. Guess I missed all the haters? Besides, it would take a a mighty pretentious person to not be at least a little impressed with what Mike Kerr does with a single bass--all while singing... The fact that the music is pretty damn good is almost peripheral... What songs do you guys cover? I am trying to add a couple to my budding band's repertoire, but so far it's proven too difficult for my novice talents to separate the parts.
We're playing Little Monster (Bb on my 5str rather than drop D) and Figure it out (standard). Good luck!

We're covering a couple of Royal Blood tracks in my 5-piece band. Obviously we are fans . The bigger band makes the songs way heavier in my opinion, and none the worse for that. I use a clean bass sound (no fx at all) for what it's worth. I kinda get why some BCers are not that impressed with Royal Blood. However, the fact is that they're popular because they have some catchy songs. That's how the music business works. It is perfectly acceptable to be into unpopular music if that's your thing instead, or indeed highly popular chart stuff which I find unpalatable. Just my £0.02.

Before I bought a 5-string I experimented with restringing my main bass BEAD. This was a useful compromise between the feel of the string and familiarity of the guitar. Cheaper too!

My BH800 doesn't always update via beaming, but you do need to turn up both the phone volume and the volume control on your bass. I mute the amp before doing this. Re your electrical issue, I seem to recall that you should only connect the usb when the amp is powered down. Good luck.
These cabs take a bit of breaking in,I'd give it several hours, once done they sound great. I've swapped the CMT100 out for a Trace Elliot AH600-12 as the Ashdown sounded to smooth for the sound we have. Think early Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus etc. Gigged it last night at The Black Swan Bradford and it sounded fantastic. I even had a bassist from another band compliment me on my sound and ask for a run down on my set up which was cool. I have no idea what 4x10 cabs from other manufacturers sound like as this is the first time I've used one. It certainly works for me in my current set up, it's very easy to manage and seems to be well built. I can only recommended you try one but make sure it's had a good work out first to loosen those speakers up. When I first tried it with the Ashdown it was brand new, it sounded okay but I was a touch underwhelmed, that was during two hours of me, by myself in a rehearsal room thrashing the nuts off the cab. At one point the was gain around 2 o'clock and everything else maxed out, including the master volume. The cab took it easy and I started to think maybe I needed more power to get it moving. A couple of band practices followed. It sounded ok. A Trace Elliot head was acquired it sounded good. Played a gig on a knock up hollow stage... Nope not happy. Couple more practice session then a gig last night... Bang, excellent aggressive, punchy, tight. I'm a happy boy. I dropped the Ashdown on it before this gig too. It sounded huge. Deep, thick valve goodness. What I thought I'd get aft the original 2 hours of torture. Break those speakers in kids, your ears will thank you for it. (ear plugs recommend)
Re the "knock up hollow stage", I had a similar problem in a rehearsal room. I think the ports underneath are breathing too hard for a hollow floor, but are quite alright with solid floor. To date that's the only problem I've had with the four10 (although I wasn't able to switch cabs to pin it on the BF). FYI I just receive my roqsolid cover for it. Perfect fit, really good quality.

Ok, so it has flat wound stings on. I've never experienced them before, so I can't tell if I'm just thrilled with my new bass or if it's these strings! I love the feel of them. I'm playing unplugged due to small children, but if it sounds even half as good as it feels I'm converted!

Cheers all for the input. I'm leaning towards DIY here, but each instrument need a different tool! Just got my Stingray today, and it's got flat wounds on . Those need to go. Maybe I'll hit youtube this weekend. Thanks again.
I have several of my basses with the Hipshot. Originally because being in RHCP and RATM covers bands, I kept tuning and retuning between standard and drop-D. It doesn't take long to do it manually, and with practice it's really easy and pretty accurate without even checking with a tuner... but the Hipshot makes it reliable 100% and it's just so easy. Do it! If you even have difficulty with holding the tuning, just put a tiny bit of grease on the mechanism and it'll work beautifully.
Thanks old chap. I've not pulled the trigger yet because I'm toying with a new main instrument.
Look closer! It can do two in and one out.
Oh yeah I see the microswitch now. I would get the BOSS every day and twice on Sunday though - vastly more versatile. You get what you pay for IMO.

I asked a similar question not long ago, and got tons of good advice. Thread here: http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 The consensus was either a Lehle or a BOSS LS-2. I'd not seen the Behringer option before, but it wouldn't solve my problem with one in and two outs; what you need is multiple ins and one out! If you have a multi-channel amp that's different.

Have you tried out the bf four10? Welcome to try mine if you want. Also saw this: https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-bass-amplifiers/aguilar-tone-hammer-350-professional-boutique-bass-head-/1176159630 which would pair nicely. Jim

Sadly this has now gone to a better home. The temptation to order a Warmoth left to replace was huge!

Barefaced 410 & 210 ordered - ok, I`m a fanboi
Mini amps don't do it .... but have their uses. You can't have a skybox on a 610 tho
I swapped my ABM500 for a TC BH800 and couldn't be happier with my decision. However I suspect the style you're playing is the biggest factor in selecting your gear. Just wondering, what would be the max output of a BH800 into a 12ohm two10? -
Cliff Williams is retiring from AC/DC
bigjimmyc replied to Bassman Sam's topic in General Discussion
Cliff and Phil were the best. Cliff, Phil and Malcolm were amazing together, considering the style isn't exactly rocket science. If I were Cliff I'd have gone when those guys did. Angus would be a star on his own - now he'll get to do exactly that and I suspect it will work out for him. I've been a big fan since the early days, but it's truly sad to see it come apart like this. As was said earlier, they should have called if off several records ago. -
Did I imagine a branch of this thread where a four10 and two10 were combined to make a 4 ohm rig? Can't find it.

Momentary switches arrived today. Soldering iron out. All switches replaced. Still no joy! After much swearing and mucking about with the multimeter, the difference between "push to make" and "push to break" became apparent. I now have a working switch 3. To be really honest I wish I'd bought a new one at the outset, or better still realised that Toneprints ain't all that.
