Hey Lefties. Am I paranoid? I've had guitars and basses professionally set up before and never been satisfied with the results. I always suspected that a righty doesn't do a proper job for a lefty. Even worse, a guitarist doesn't do a proper job on a bass, so taking a lefty bass to a righty guitarist.... you see where I'm going. I do most stuff myself but honestly I don't have the tools, patience or eyesight to do this properly. What do you guys and gals do? Anyone you can recommend (Hampshire or Middlesex area)?? Cheers Jimmy

Hi all. Please see attached my Iceman ICB 300 EX. It's in great condition, all the body, neck and headstock binding is undamaged. There are one or two blemishes on the front but nothing serious and not visible without close inspection. I think the action is amazing - very low and buzz-free. The active humbuckers are deep and powerful as you'd expect. All the electronics and mechanicals are working perfectly. This comes with the hard case specially made for it. I should point out that this is a right-handed guitar, unlike most of my gear. Free delivery in Hampshire, or by arrangement. I'll consider shipping if you really really want to. Here are the rest of them, as requested. My research suggests it's a Chinese model possibly circa 2007? The neck is bolt-on, active preamp on board, it's a real metal machine. I just wish it was a lefty - it's so pretty I might keep it on the wall. BTW, it's strung heavy 110-90-70-50 so I'm keeping it tuned to Eb. Hey all. I acquired this today. Google tells me what it's called, but honestly I just liked to look of it! The sound and action are amazingly good. Anyone want to educate me on this instrument?
I wanted to go back from a 5 to a 4 so got one with the double stop lever and detune the E to D and B. Once you get them set up they're pretty much set and forget. You just need to remember to tune them as per the video on the website. I use Chromes and have a 110 for an E string it took me about 45 minutes to set both lower tunings but that's it set now
That's pretty cool. So a solid recommendation then?
The foot switch is supposed to have momentary buttons not latching. You'll find that Digitech's 3 way foot switch will work too.
Thanks for that info. I guess this fellow had already mucked about with it! Back to Amazon for me then! Cheers dood.

Hi all. Anyone else got a TC Switch 3? After buying a TC BH800 off MarshallBTB here, I found the footswitch on gumtree for a fair price. Went to get it from a nightmare seller whose gaff was stacked ceiling high with new, used, broken and disassembled gear. I should have run away screaming. The switch looked ok, but didn't work properly. We agreed a lower price and I took it anyway. Sure enough it didn't work properly at home. Brand new cable BTW. Switches 1 and 2 are fine. They are the latching type and they function perfectly. Switch number 3 (mute) didn't seem to be a latching type, but momentary, or perhaps broken latching! I bought a new latching switch and replaced #3, but it doesn't work properly. Now I'm wondering if I should have bought a new momentary switch for #3? By the way, the one I removed is defo faulty. So please can someone confirm for me whether the 3 footswitches are supposed to be all the same, latching or non-latching? Thanks Jim PS. Loving the BH800 with my bf four10!

Hi all. I'm considering adding a Hipshot d-tuner to my Tobias Toby Pro 4. Anyone have good/bad/indifferent experiences with this stuff? The exact model I need is the GB7 treble version, in black. I'm a lefty so as usual these are like gold-plated rocking-horse sh!t. Why do you want it they ask? We're playing a little number called Slither (Velvet Revolver) in our set. I currently tune the whole bass down to D, but it's a bit floppy and buzzy. Secondly, due to the tuning I only use this bass for one song which is a shame (it's my only 4-string) - I'd like to use it for Hysteria too. Checking out Duff's technique on Youtube, he practically stays on the bottom string throughout, and I could change to that method too. With this gizmo on board I can get my tension back, get my 4-string back, and maybe change guitars less in the set. So, who want to set me straight on the hipshot? Cheers Jim
Actually no! - The Tobias electronics are a bit on the quiet side on the Toby versions. .....
Taking on board this feedback (because it matched my own thinking) I did a little more research, both on google and in the back of my Toby. Basically the on-board preamp is a really cheap POS. However, trawling the internet I found suggestions that the pickups themselves are not too shabby. So, soldering iron in ham fist, I bypassed the EQ circuit and made my Toby passive. No more batteries! I kept everything in place in case I need to reverse the procedure which actually only needed three touches. Hey presto, the passive sound is great! I still have use of the pickup select pot and volume too. Hard to be certain, but I feel like I'm getting a bigger more toneful sound which is much nearer the levels of my Peaveys.

Replacement pickups for a Tobias Toby Pro 4-B bass
With requirements as specific as that I think you should Wizard pick ups a call and get them to produce you a custom pair. http://www.wizardpickups.co.uk/
Hey - I have the same requirement, to replace the pups on a Toby 4. However it seems that wizardpickups' website doesn't exist now. Anyone know if they're still around? -
Has anyone mentioned how bloody awkward 4x10 are to transport? My tech soundsystems gets round this by staggering the speakers. Surprised BF didn't do this, but I guess the design would put some people off.
I've lugged my BF four10 to half a dozen rehearsals now and I don't find it that awkward. It's smaller and lighter than any other 4x10 I'm aware of, (and 1x15 for that matter), has sensible handles, etc. I think it's the one-cab solution. If I wanted something smaller I'd look no further than the rest of the the BF range. Compare the dimensions for yourself - it is soooo small - but it sounds huge!

"Classic" songs that are used for adverts
Yeah, it was Snuff, who also covered the Branflakes "Tasty Tasty very very tasty" song

I'm sure I heard a thrash cover of 'Shake & Vac' in the late 80s/early 90s. I thought it was by someone like Xentrix or maybe Lawn Mower Deth, though it could have been Nuclear Assault, but I did a quick google search and couldn't find anything. Interesting thread this, so here's my £0.02. My basses are not expensive or new or mint, but as a lefty I know they'd be tough to replace. In my loft I have the hard cases for them all, but they're in the loft for a reason. Practicality is king! I use gig bags instead and that tells me the value I really put on these instruments. I guess if my band was regularly moving gear by van from gig to gig those cases would make sense. So here's the rub: who puts "cheap" equipment into hard cases? Ideally we would probably all have different gear for live, home, rehearsal and studio. And a roadie to keep it all nice too!
Anyone in or around Nottingham have one of these for me to have a go with?
BF have done a very smart thing and created a web page for this exact question: http://barefacedbass.com/barefaced-map.htm Unfortunately there are no four10 owners showing because it's not on the form you fill out as a proud owner (yet). Otherwise I would have done it already! Come on Alex - sort it out!! Any time you find yourself in Hampshire come and try mine.
