  1. Trio jam this evening a lot of fun
  2. GHS set on my Stingray presently Chromes were good on this but certainly a different flavour
  3. Flats are the business on Fretless. smooth as a baby’s bottom
  4. Both Reid and Sher books have been helping me for decades highly recommend both
  5. They are quite heavy but balance well least neck dive of any Fender I have played or owned
  6. i am very happy with my free the tone silky compressor - it certainly helps my filters get funky
  7. Was Stingray Sunday at mine
  8. The old trusty Brown Boss limiter
  9. I did 45 minutes practice with this instrument standing up ( I nearly always practice whilst sitting down and often do the same at gigs) and while this is a heavy instrument the balance was very good and no neck dive. I'm running it into a Diamond / SGFX Bass Comp/EQ with the mid switch at 900 not 500 which is what I use for all my other basses. It sounds better, I don't have an explanation why Plectrum use is ok , I'll need to practice more , probably prefer a heavier gauge than what I normally use The Pick Up / Electronics are not "hot" like my 2EQ Stingray 4. I'd look under the hood but I have no idea what I'm looking for in any knowledgeable way The treble boost pot doesn't add hiss - hurrah - not that I ever use the treble pot much The pick guard is a replacement - the original is a shocker - like a metal foot wiper Is this a good Bass? I thinks so. It's certainly 25-33% cost on the only 2EQ Stingray 5 USA I could find. Once I got slightly more familiar with it's quirks and string spacing I'd happily gig this anywhere, any genre
  10. Bought this in December but today is the first day of proper playing numerous things needs fixing , for me it was unplayable strung with the Labella 760FS the electronics are not the greatest its certainly a heavy instrument The new nut the luthier made is considerably better , now the G string is actually on the fingerboard Holds it’s tuning well , intonation very good , with some bass boost EQ and a high ish action it’s very nice to play walking lines on Bass - Hard Case - Freight - Strings - Luthier … all up approximately £725
  11. I think it's been at least 4 decades of trying to breed the Red Heifer
  12. next in is the old Brown Boss LM-2B
  13. Nice catch up last night helping a straight rock drummer with funk and jazz is interesting
  14. I've now got GHS Precision Flats on my fretless 2EQ Stingray Had previously only used Chromes on it G string is a bit much but I think it will settle - I used GHS previously on a fretless Jazz and really liked them
  15. I got my Fortress 5 back from the luthier and it’s an absolute smoking instrument it might not be the best instrument for me but can’t fault it’s construction. the string spacing has been widened and I went with a slightly heavier gauge of Chromes
  16. Peter Stephen - Lyttleton Canterbury NZ he's unlikely to break the land speed record but always A+ work
  17. I had a go on both your Spector's here in Otautahi but i can't remember what year that was sorry - nice instruments My #1 is a MTD Grendel 5 which is the least $ spent but really is a top instrument Check out the Czech's I think...
  18. as I do not own this site there could be numerous reasons why a non-political drive is best practice if I disagree then I am welcome to not be a member what I will say is that in a Capitalist Economy there is actually no such thing as non-political , it's just when or where the moderator / owner draws the line
  19. This is way above my needs and functionality abilities but it’s very cool. As per all FTT gear I have used it’s superbly constructed
