Hi Guys, Anyone need a depping job north Essex Colchester area. We need a good Rock bassist for a Classic Rock covers band. I've been out of action for a while now and it looks like its gonna be several months until I am back on bass if at all. The problem is we are out most weekends and the guys who have been standing in for me are with other bands, and cannot commit to us or have family commitments. I guess I just need someone who can do what it say's on the tin, turn up, do the business and get paid, if you enjoy what you do to and have a laugh thats even better!. So if you live in Ipswich, Colchester, Braintree area then this maybe a nice little number for you. If you love music and want a laugh with the band then this is also gonna be up your street. Age range 25 - 50 but must have gigging experience and be good at what you do. Next years gigs already up on the website. Plenty of big speakers around.... 21", 22" + 24".... -
Saw L42 las night at the RAH.... Bass sounded good from what I could hear.... the FOH sound was absolutely shocking..... and I mean shocking. One of the worst live sounds I've ever heard. Last years show there was so much better. And they only played for approx 1 hour 15 mins....

What's the recording format your using, desk, outboard etc.....?
I think I may actually have done that already! There've been a couple of gigs that we couldn't do, or where they've asked for a certain type of music (which we don't do) and I've pinged them a couple of band details from the signatures on this very site. As well as that I have a couple of local bands that we operate a 'scratch your back' policy with. To be honest we'd rather play 2 gigs where they really wanted US, rather than 10 gigs where they just want 'a band'. Hence we have no money We do have problems displaying our wares for potential punters, but I'd say that over 5 years probably 95% of gigs have been recommendations, and only 5% were cold calls. For example we've played weddings for a brother, sister and cousin - all from the same family (although obviously not the same wedding, even though it was Norfolk). They must be soooo sick of us by now!
Oooo well if we had any gigs from you ta very much, I'll try and do the same of course..... I must say I do like your bands web site. We have done Family stuff before but obviously we feel we can't charge our regular rate so we only do that on very special occasions now. We do allow each member of the band a Freebie each year... though I've not used mine for the past two years... saving it for my 40th next year!

Well to be honest that really only works if your a covers band..... you see we get asked this question a lot ... it's sorta catch 22.... Where can we see you play? Well you can't really cause we only do weddings and corporate which means that every gig is virtually a private affair.... however we've not had one turn down yet because of this.
Wat do you do whan you are already booked for a date? We have a long list of helpful people we give out to the punters...
yeah we have one or two bands we recommend too... but there are not enough decent outfits around I'd feel comfortable passing on.
Likewise. 2009 is packed full and we're turning them down. People are keen to try andknock £50/100 off here and there, but overall things are still looking peachy. I'd imagine that 2010 will be the dry year as people delay setting a day/venue. At the moment we're still getting people who got engaged in happier times.
Ah well any you can't handle chuck my way please mate.... I'll see if we can squeeze them in. Problem is getting the weddings spread across the year, obviously May through Sept is rammed. We had to turn down 15 enquiries at the Wedding show as we were already booked. 2010 is looking ok at the moment for us... I think we have 9 or 10 confirmed (with deposits) which is pretty good that far in advance...

We've just finished the National Wedding Show last weekend at the NEC. We took 4 times as many bookings this year than we did last year.... so it's definitely on the up!!!
Just stumbled across this post and if you are still wondering this might be of some inspiration. I mean it's kool but you could pick that up with a bit of practice.

SENNHEISER EW 172 Wireless Problem
crez5150 replied to originalfunster's topic in Repairs and Technical
Doubt if they will via the serial number.... depends where you bought it from. Old git is right though, you should take it back to the shop where you bought it from. Oh yeah and you get a 2 year warranty on Evolution products. -
Well, the gig is done and dusted. I went for the Sennheiser SKM5000 from Bettersound and..... IT WAS AWESOME! Thanks for the recommendation. Vocals were crystal clear, oodles of headroom, handled the transients well, and had good feedback rejection even when wandering in front of the PA stacks. It was a bit of an arse to carry though... two crates of equipment for one microphone?!?! And the antennae array that came supplied was perhaps overkill, but all in all. Lovely. Key thing for me was that those who listened who know about music knew it wasn't a Shure. They knew it was better, but had no idea of what it was. And also a magical moment where our lead singer declared it to be the best mic he'd used and said 'I might actually go and buy one of these. How much are these mate?'. Hahahahaha
Should be good at nearly 7K per channel......... give or take a few hundred quid depending on which options you go for Jay

SENNHEISER EW 172 Wireless Problem
crez5150 replied to originalfunster's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hi All, I have a problem with my EW172, the signal keeps dropping in and out. I have tried different leads going from the unit to the amp, new batterys etc and still have the problem. Anyone got any ideas what might be causing it? Thanks Gary
Hi Garry I'm presuming you have tried changing the frequency on the unit and checking the antenna's are secure in the back of the unit? If so best to call Sennheiser 01494 551551 and press the option for the service department. Explain the problem to one of the guys there who will be able to help you. Jay -
Well you are preaching to the great un-washed!!
