1.
I'd use the preamp out jack on the amp. It shouldn't affect the signal path as it'll be in parallel with it, and well buffered. This is the sort of thing it's designed for. Andy
Yep that'll work
 2. The side chain output is basically a send and return (a Stereo jack which incorporates output/input). The idea being that you can stick an eq unit in the chain. If you use just a standard jack to jack you can send signal from the compressor to your tuner. As you will only be sending signal it will not be coming back into your signal path.... try it!
 3. If you keep you compressor in the fx loop as you have already, you should be able to use a standard jack to jack from the Side Chain output jack on your Compressor to the input on your tuner
 4.
Moss from the IT crowd: Stanley Clarke:
That's F*****G Genius!!!
 5. IEM all the way mate
 6. Bloody drummers...... Think I'd put up with drum machine sounds actually!
 7. That's just poor organization on your drummers part.... When our drummer uses his, he's set up and plugged in within 10 mins...
 8.
Absolutely. Like those new fangled electric basses. Alex
9.
Interesting. The key benefit of the Senn is actually that the on/off switch is on the bottom, making it harder to switch off mid gig. It sounds dumb, but if you had witnessed our singer turning off his mic 5 times in one gig (!!) then you'd understand Will look into the 100/300 range though.
Very true... also the bottom of the mic where the on/off switch is located actually swivels around blanking off the switch to completely avoid the problem.
 10. It's the same with any electronic piece of music equipment... unless it's set up right it will probably sound mediocre.... I know Craig spent a while playing around with tunings, velocity settings and such to make it sound and feel as realistic as possible...
 11.
I am not sure if I DO prefer acoustic kits for recording, to be honest. Unless the kit is tuned and kept in a stable atmosphere and looked after, miced up and set up for recording, they can be a complete pain in the arse to work with! I think the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages with electric kits.
+ 1.... the drummer I play with is a Roland endorsee..... check out his video here of him going through the V-Drums - Craig Blundell I think there are a lot of advantages to electric kits over acoustic... the sounds are getting better all the time and more and more players are incorporating them into their traditional kit. I've got one I use for recording purposes... it's fantastic!!
 12. The 5000 series is say over the top for what you need.... that gear is designed for Broadcast and applications where RF stability is most important. The 100/300 series will be more than adequate I guarantee you. The reason they want so much money for insurance is that's how much the kit costs to buy.... it's not cheap
 13. Hmmm ....... well I use a JBL SRX712M which is plenty loud enough (800w RMS) in a really compact wedge. I use it as an extension cab from the Eden Metro combo and have it next to my vocal monitor on stage. Not cheap though but does the job perfectly.
 14.
For me it's a subset of Level 42: anything with heavy Slapping on it. Mark's bloody good at it, but I couldn't fail to notice that my fave L42 songs have little or no audible slapping e.g. Physical Presence, Children Say, The Sleepwalkers, A Kinder Eye. I've been a huge fan of OMD for years, and much as I love many of their songs, the bass does get short shrift on most. While Andy McCluskey might lack in muso cred, he more than evens the score with enthusiasm and commitment.
Actually there is Slap on Children Say just depends on which version you have.... it's really understated and low in the mix as most of what you hear is actually bass synth. Or if you have the re-mixes album there is a section at the beginning that is just the slap bass being played.... and very nice it is too...
 15.
Absolute top notch radio mic gear for Vox is the Sennheiser 5000 series with a Neumann capsule. Bettersound are a rental place, As are FX Rentals.
bit ott though...
 16. More like Peter....

 18.
Personally I thought Retroglide was a master class in song writting. I still like Level 42. There .. I said it.
I thought it was more like a masterclass in 'how not to master a recording for general release'!!!!!
 19.
Motown. Stax. Beatles. Jamiroqui. Primus. RHCP. Not sure about Level 42, I quite like the music but MK's voice doesn't do it for me at all.
I am a massive Level 42 fan but I have to agree... songwriting was never their strong point apart form the odd few songs.... they should have stuck to the early instrumental stuff really....
 20.
Then what you are enjoying is not the song but the effect the song has on your audience. Perfectly understandable but, remember, if you play for applause, that is all you will ever get .
Oh god we're not going back over this again are we....??????
 21. I wonder if you get any Latency?
 22. Cheap for firewood!
 23. I can see this thread running and running.......
