the one thing we all agree on seems to be the lack of bottom end? it's in progress, there's a thread in the build section
I really have to disagree about the lack of bottom end...... I really can't see why some people say that?
-
yeah he has dropped it quite a bit over the past few years... maybe to hide that massive belly he now has...
-
I'd be questioning his choice of amplification rather than the bass

Ooooo any pics of the shuker?

I have to say that being an avid Kingbass user I can understand all the points above..... yes I am a Level 42 fan but that was not the reason for purchasing Kingbasses as my weapon of choice. I had previously been using Thumb basses exclusively... my fave was a 5 string through-neck.... My main reason for choosing Status was the weight factor in as much that they weigh very little in comparison with other basses. .... and that helped a lot with the back pain i was feeling after a 3 hour gig. During my transition between Thumbs and KB's.... I was using a Status S2 Classic 5 string. This was an absolutely fantastic bass..... but the shape was not right for me.... the top horn was just in the way. So I tried the Kingbass as the smaller body shape was more in line with the Warwicks I had been using...... and the rest is history! I was a bit dubious about owning a Kingbass because of the fact it is an 'Artist' product and I got the feeling that I would turn up at gigs and people say... 'oh look... he want's to be mark king'.... but thats not the case, most people don't really seem interested.... apart from my when I use the LED's on the Black Beauty! ;0) As for the reach on the kingbasses, i've not had any problems and its very comfortable to play. I have no neck diving..... quite the opposite in fact... I find I tend to push the neck down and away from me more and more.

Overwater available across the UK 10:15, Jan 17th 2008 New Perception series to be stocked by leading retailers. Overwater has introduced a new series of mid-priced ‘off the peg’ basses, which are making their appearance in music shops across the UK. The instruments have been played by many professional and serious amateur players for over 25 years, yet have remained relatively exclusive, with only a very limited number of retailers stocking them and, until recently, most were built to order. This new production series of Overwater Perception basses is the result of a joint venture between Overwater’s Chris May and Pavel Bures, formerly a luthier for Warwick, Tobias and Steinberger. Constructed in a purpose-built facility in the Czech Republic, the Perceptions – designed by long time Overwater luthier, Haydn Williams and Chris May – are then shipped to the UK, where each one is finished and set-up by the same team that produces Overwater’s custom instruments. May will oversee both stages of the process. Overwater Perceptions are available as four, five and six-string models, in Pro Deluxe, Standard Deluxe and Standard Deluxe Plus versions. The Standard Deluxe models feature three-piece bolt-on Maple necks, Mahogany or Walnut bodies with exotic wood tops, Overwater pickups, two-band EQ and a Hipshot style A bridge. They are available in four, five and six-string versions and will sell for £1,395, £1,495 and £1,695 respectively. The Standard Deluxe Plus models, meanwhile, feature more highly figured tops, three-band EQ, a Hipshot Style B bridge and will sell for £1,595, £1,695 and £1,795. Top of the Perception range is the Pro Deluxe, which sports a sleeker body style and five-piece Maple and Walnut bolt-on neck, individually selected facings and three-band EQ. It also features Overwater dual-coil pickups and a genuine machined Overwater bridge. Perception Pro Deluxe basses will sell for £1,985, £2,085 and £2,175. Overwater’s Chris May commented: “The Perceptions are made in a small, well appointed factory, building exactly the same instruments in exactly the same way we do in the UK, overseen by someone who has worked here building our custom instruments and with my full involvement.” Overwater Perception basses are available immediately from leading retailers.
I find it surprising that someone will pay hundreds of pounds for a bass (thousands sometimes), and hundreds for an amp etc, then stick some cheap strings on it, you can get Elites or D'adario for about £13, and Rotosounds are only £10 from Stringbusters. At least by buying from a 'known' manufacturer you stand a chance of not having to send them back.
Well said....... some players do the same with Cables...... £1000+ on an instrument and £5 on a cable...... go figure?

They were supposed to be ready before Xmas. Have sent 3 e-mails that have not had a reply and tried to phone a couple of times and keep getting the answering machine. Anyone able to shed any light on the situation down there? Cheers, Stuart
He may very well be in the states at the mo....

Do the audience really appreciate quality sound?
crez5150 replied to Perry's topic in General Discussion
The audience doesn't care...... but then again equipment is better made and less expensive these days anyway. We totted up the value of gear on stage last week..... £75k..... would the audience know it was worth that?? would they care...... nope! -
