1.
Think a bunch is because he has never done anything but play bass/music, so his music hasn't got a life to talk about other than playing music, so it doesn't connect to people outside of that level. think in that Bass Extreme's DVD, Steve Bailey says somehting about things you did as a kid, and Vic was 'Nope, I just played bass with my brothers'.
Pretty much.... you read his book and it does come across that way
2.
Okay, that's funny. Every measure was a melody. Are you familiar with the song?
No I'm not familiar with the song.... to me it just really didn't sound very musical.... Whats the original piece called?
3. Not sure.... I don't know this guy but I found it completely un-musical......
4.
So, having been fired from my band last night.... (and I dont really know why, but offtopic) I was considering pursueing something i've long though about doin: An old school/garage/trance type covers band. My question is, would there actually be any demand for such a band? I'm thinking stuff like ATB N-Trance Robert Miles Christina Aguilera Fatboy Slim Jennifer Lopez Justin Timberlake Liberty X Maybe throw in some busted / type stuff etc etc Its all stuff that me and my friends <loved> and still do, but I cannot see it being particularly commercially acceptable / likely to get gigs. Anyone else done any of this sort of stuff / seen it succeed anywhere? I would imagine it would take a lot of practise/patch setting up - probably 2 keys players + guitar.
I'd say do it.... the pubs and clubs are starting to realise that punters want something different to the usual 'McDonalds Menu' bands that you see in most pubs and clubs these days. I've got three bands on the go at the moment playing different to the rest material and booking are ramping up all the time.
5. I love this Band..... really different from the rest and know how to put on a proper show!!
6. Think smallest stage I've played is the 12 Bar club on Denmark St....... we managed to get the drummer on.... that was it.
7. Not sure if anyone has posted this but read this earlier on one of the trade websites - Industry rumours suggest that two more Fender owned brands, bass amp specialist SWR and bass and acoustic amp maker Genz-Benz, could be closed following in the footsteps of Hamer Guitars, which ceased production late last year. Fender UK was unable to comment when asked what the company's plans were for the two amp brands, but a spokesman confirmed that no new models were under development for either. SWR, founded by former Acoustic Control Corporation engineer Steve W. Rabe, opened its doors in 1984 and rapidly became one of the leading names in the specialist bass amplification market. In 2003 Rabe sold the business to Fender for a reputed $8 million. Genz-Benz, founded by Geoff Genzler in 1984, was acquired by Fender when it purchased Kaman Music Corporation for a reputed $117 million in 2007. In December 2012, when Hamer closed, MI reported: "The question it does raise, however, is what fate awaits some of the other brands under the Fender ownership? The firm’s spokesman did seem to indicate that Hamer would not be the last name to disappear. “It’s too soon to tell but,” he said, “but I imagine, based on our 65-year history, that it would be the case, yes.” In March 2012 Fender announced a planned initial public offering with ten million shares to be sold at between $13 and $15 each but this was cancelled in July, with CEO Larry Thomas blaming "current market conditions and concerns about economic conditions in Europe". Some financial commentators, on the other hand, suggested the price was simply too high.
8. Plus there is the cost factor,....... Peavey have had a massive push with IPR offering some stupid deals to the trade..... hence a lot of resellers pushing these over other brands
