1. Another +1 for the GK MB500..... I cannot fault it!
2. Yeah I think you're right with it being Relax and not Two tribes....... Mad stuff
3. My understanding is that the Blockheads did a version but it was never used.....
4. I see you already have two..... A TU-3 and a Super booster ;o)
5. I play a status that has two strap buttons on the bottom so it will stand up on it's own if leant agains a wall or amp. However I secure mine so the side handle on my Aggie 112 with a velcro cable tie
6. Another Essex to Leeds and back wedding affair dep gig...... I'm getting to old for this
7. Anything heavy should be in a shock mount case..... especially amplification. Just make sure it's got adequate ventilation vents
8. Thanks Jeff... )
9. The frequencies are too close... it won't work. What generation system are the EW100? If they are G3 you can get six frequencies at a push running in the de-regulated band (I'll need to dig out a chart) but if they are G2 or G1 then you're out of luck. you can still run 4 frequencies on de-reg band 70 but that's it. You'll need to re-tune to channel 38 if your kit allows but you'll still need licensing
10. Difficult..... several options really I guess. The function band I play with is owned by the band leader (keys player) who also handles all the bookings, so not really an issue My disco band I own the FOH system and the guitarist owns the monitors..... we have no issues as we are all good friends. Last function band I played with the Guitarist owned the pa and took a small extra cut to cater for the upkeep of the PA (leads/replacement Diaphragms etc...) Things you have to bear in mind.... if you all pay then get a cut when you leave the band.... the pa is not worth as much as to when you bought it. so you need to work out what the cuts are going to be. I would personally look to take money from each gig you do in the future to pay for said PA.
11. We do a couple of DS numbers.... will be paying tribute tomorrow night with a funky rendition of Bad Girls..... Sad loss
12. Plus you would have to pay cash up front, wait for around 4 months before you even saw them......
13. Shouting 'ONE.... TWO.... THREE... FOUR...' at the top of your voice when you notice the timing waining usually gets noticed..... If you've tried to talk it out with him you've done your bit. Maybe make the peace and see if he comes round to talking about the issue
14.
We know the boxes are different. So, the combos sound different. I'd love to fire each head through the same cab though, or at least an HB or RS against the Ibby. Also, is there anywhere you can just buy these as single Beta Alvin units, without the added mark-up of the re-brand?
You could buy them direct from Beta Alvin if you like but I think Min order is around 100 pcs
15.
Fair enough crez. I probably had you confused with Carlsbro for a moment. (Yes, I too had a couple of HH amps).
The new Carlsbro product range is indeed pretty much just badged chinese product from SoundKing. Soundking own Carlsbro and Studiomaster now and mostly are generic from the range. The new HH range is designed from the ground up so to speak with the only exception being the Active plastic PA cabs (Tensor) which is a generic cab we buy (due to tooling costs) in but are loaded with our own components and amplifier module.
16.
Funny you should mention that. My Streamline does sound better with effects than most. My Vigier seems to ignore effects altogether. I reckon it's to do with the low impedance output of the (on-board) pre-amp.
I had the same issue with my old Warwick Thumb.... didn't drive enough, just seem to hit a brick wall with it and no more push
17.
I've heard some real abortions recently - all involved 'bass synths'.
The trick is to have a high input gain (or a Status with 18v pre ) to adequately drive the synth. This is where most people fall down and end up with bad tracking problems.
18. Think a lot of people over use the effect... too much effect. You only need a little. My pedal board is mostly based around synth sounds which work really well but you have to take time getting the balance between the effected signal and bass for it to really work.
19. Well I use a 32"scale status that I tune flat for a function band I play with without issue...... Graphite innit!
20. There are plenty of cheap power amps out there but it's how they handle under load for a duration..... Gig at the weekend and the band I depped for had issues with the Peavey IPR running a load of 4ohms for the gig.... couldn't handle it very well
21. I think the issue is that a lot of people think/feel Bigger=Louder=better
22. I might actually be able to make this one too
23. I would love one but he lack of FX send/return is no no for me.....
24. Shattered..... Dep gig. Essex to Hull.... and back again.... One of the most quietest weddings I've played.... only 50 guests????
