Due to our landlord selling our flat I too am looking to slim down my amp/cab collection which I've accumulated over the years. This sale is for a Fender BXR 400 dual bass head, here's a quick spec as there is no proper description available; Specs 400 Watts 11 Band graphic EQ Compressors Electronic crossover FX loop Dimensions: 23.5" x 20" x 6" Weight: 53 lbs The amp was previously owned by a backline company who used to deal with touring US bands in the 90s and someone during then dented one of the back cooling fins, but I guess that's punk for you. They are known for being able to send two different frequencies (set by the user) to two different amps using the crossover knob. The bassist from Nirvana had one as a back up, so that's the idea of its tone. Quite rare to come across now and look the part with the retro design and wiring diagram on the top. It's been modified with an English voltage plug. So it's not just easy on the ears, it's easy on your vehicle, your venue, and your vertebrae! The Rumble 2x8 cabinet's special lightweight design delivers more pronounced low-frequency response than most small cabs, and the dual 8" neodymium speakers allow for a smaller enclosure size while delivering knockout bass punch even quicker than 10" speakers. Combine these features with the switchable tweeter (full/off/-6db), and you just became a thundering force to be reckoned with, especially when you pair the Rumble 2x8 with the Rumble 112 cabinet and a Rumble head. I'm sure I don't need to sell these anymore to you as they are pretty renowned. They are both in good condition with no tolex rips. If you've got any questions PM me and I'll be happy to help. Also selling other amps and cabs so please check them out too if interested.

Due to our landlord selling our flat I too am looking to slim down my amp/cab collection which I've accumulated over the years. This sale is for an Ashdown Touring 550 2x10 combo, here's a description from Andertons.co.uk; A tour grade amp for the gigging bassist - the Ashdown 550 is portable, but does not lack in low end tone, power or clarity like some mobile bass combos. The tube preamp of the 550 Touring Combo probably contributes to the way this combo allows the attack of your notes to cut through the mix without excessive EQ, as well as the perceived "warmth" of the low-midrange. Finally, you can have studio quality bass tone on the road at a price that won't leave a hole in your pocket. The 550 Touring is a 2x10" combo combining the warmth and grind of the 427 Small Block's all-tube preamp with the dynamics of Ashdown's tour-proven 500-Watt ABM power stage. The 550 Touring features High and Low gain inputs, front panel-mounted Effects Send and Return, rotary Bass, Middle and Treble controls with Mid Shift, Bass Shift and Bright switching, Mute switch, rotary Gain and Master volume controls and balanced DI output with Pre/Post switching.

Power Output (RMS): 550W
Speaker Configuration: 2 x 10"
H x W x D (mm): 730 x 460 x 765
Weight (kg): 37
The amp is in fine condition, great tone and plenty of power, she is a heavy girl though but it's fine with two people. Any recommendations for replacement valves? Want something that can bark with my jazz...
-
No love for the EHX pog?
-
So I opened it up, took all the valves out and sprayed contact spray, no luck... I then replaced one of the stubbier valves (the three in the front, guess they are the pre-amp ones...?) with a new ruby one and boom it all works perfectly now. However when I was going through the valves they were a mix match of different types, is this something I should avoid?
-
I do what I can! Ashdown Had implied on their Facebook feed that the Little Bastard head might be coming back. I wonder if these are being sold off in anticipation of that?
My thoughts exactly
-
Well I didn't take any valves out and the whooshing sound went away on its own BUT (and a big but at that!) I've noticed a substational drop in volume, I can have it cranked going through a barefaced 15" compact and it isn't nearly as loud as it was yesterday with the whooshing sound.
-
I'm pretty miffed, bought this second hand the other month and today I've got that whooshing sound which (from what I gather) could be a transformer issue. Now as I bought it second hand am I entitled to ashdowns superb customer service or should I take it to a tech? OR ( a big or) is it something a little DIY can't fix?
The Strymon is great, I also used the Neunaber wet, that's really nice too. I've moved away from pedals, and use software nowadays. Far more versatile.
Software sounds so sterile and too perfect to my ears, give me genuine pedals any day
I used to use DiMarzio Ultra Js in a US Jazz bass, they were great and noiseless, a real upgrade over the generic US level p/ups.
What did you replace them with? -

Damn that sounds fun, appeared to track nicely too, that's more than my freqbox can do.
