  1. I had a lined fretless P about 6 years ago.Bought second hand from a local store,I gave up smoking to pay for it!! It was chrome red (C.A.R?) and had no dots on the 'board, just lines.Rear of headstock had 50th anniversary sticker. Sold, withdeep regret,to fund drum gas!!!!! Seems all I needed was a good fart!
  2. I just bought a BB414in metallic orange and I really like it.Nice jazz ish neck.Comfy weight.Fair P sound;well funky with both pups and blindingly honky bridge pup.Got mine at a reduced price too as it had been sat in the shop for ages!!!!Itried it thru a Peavey in the shop and wasn't overwhelmed, but I needed a cheap bass.Different story played thru my Hartke amp.I also play it thru a Trace combo at a pupils house to amazing results.Good luck mate. And check Th'ebay. There was one for sale in Scotland brand new.
  3. Thanks for your input guys.I do appreciate it.I went in my local store and tried a USA P bass with S1.Loved it!! Of course <it has all the P mojo! The first bass sound I learned to recognize! I then tried a mexican and basically put it straight back down!!No comparison. Once upon a time though,I had a Japanese P;the 51 re issue blue flower one.Although it had all vintage accoutrements.2 saddle bridge, reverse tuners, hidden truss adjustment etc.No case.BUT,it absolutely oozed quality.Build and sound.Love Guitar emporiums website too. So many basses,so little time ,eh?
  4. Which is better;USA for authenticity or CIJ for the craftsmanship? Talking P bass here.Been on guitar emporium site and their prices for the faux USA are very close to the price of a USA in my local store.
  5. Thanks very much.I read somewhere about the Gotoh going on Yams and they are about half the price.Trouble is,no one seems to have one! I think the badass route is probably for me.They seem to be more readily available
  6. Thank you.I have been looking at those on ebay
  7. Hi guys! Does anyone know of a suitable replacement bridge for a yamaha bb414? I have heard folk mention a gotoh, but would a badass II do the job? I just want to coax a bit more bottom out of it.Thanks

  17. You should try copying melodies, especially the subconscious ones-radio jingles etc or things you can remember.Something you heard someone whistle down the shops for instance. It all helps unlock the 'board and break the cycle of playing lines you already know.
  18. Not mine but worth a look.Item no.280182253971
  19. I only have one bass-StingRay 5. No more 4s!!! +1 the Peavey comment.I once had a Peavey Fury V with flame top, double humbuckers and active circuit.I think I paid 200 or thereabouts.Bass Guitar Magazine did a budget 5 string roundup a few issues ago, might be worth traking down a back issue
