I use a recorder - a phone can probably do as well - at most our rehearsals so I can relisten at home. The listening experience is often different from the playing experience. I used it to simplify my playing for de-mud'ing and for tightening the essential interaction with drummer. Maybe that would work for you as well in redefining the arrangements.

If you are going instrumental (no singer) you will have to rearrange everything, won't you?

Bass recommendations and advice playing with hand pain
42Hz replied to toastieman's topic in Bass Guitars
I also recommend good setup of your preferred instruments. A short scale solid body does not solve the problems with the upright. There are many quite good short scales around. Besides the ones mentioned there are a sub short (28.6") Squier P and Harley Benton has an 30" P as well, if cost doesnt matter too much there are many other short P types to choose from. Have a talk with a doctor or physiscist (if that is what they are called). Also old dogs can learn new tricks, so consider attending technique lessons given by a pro player. -
A p-bass with flats and tort pickguard will do wonders 😁

Play more. Not just you but also the drummer (Bruce/Baker style). Depending on the music you play some songs actually live better in a simple arrangement. Ask the drummer to work with her cymbals.

When I offer something for sale I consider what I would pay for the thing and and then add like 10-20% as most people will offer below the listed price no matter what. The level is 50-75% of new depending on condition and if the thing is going in and out of fashion. I do see instrument kept up for sale for long period but at high prices - which may be a factor for why they don't sell. To me that seems strange. I am more an either/or person if I decide that I dont want an instrument it will be sold. I'd rather give it away than have it for sale for several years at an unrealistic price.

The new Escher bass.😀

If its a paying gig then make sure you get your fair share. To mime or not to mime ... Follow your gut feeling about the band. I you feel it has a future take a discussion with the other in the band to get the concept clear and if playing direct instead of miming to backing track is impotant to you tell the other about it. If you disagree on such a fundamental issue - take money and run :-) If the sound of you bass is important for convincing miming, take your signal to a set of in-ears.

Home recording or banging my head against a wall.

Just looked at the manuals for some of these. Looks like really good options in comparison. Good mention. -

Metaphorically; Yes, indeed. As you see from the responses the frustration you experience is not so uncommon. I tend to believe that in unision the humanity still has a chance in fighting against the oppressor (information technology) but we need to act very very soon. -

I will not be the one who waste your time, so - in case someone else comes around with a similar problem: Did You set the audio input device to "Line (USB Sound Device)" (or named something similar) ??? Your response indicates a "no". If not, then do so by right clicking the loudspeaker icon on the task bar (bottom right of screen) and chose "Open Sound settings", scroll down under Input and select in the drop-down selector. It is not unlikely that Windows or Linux can work with your audio interface directly with standard system drivers. At least good enough for a test. -

If you: (1) plug the audio interface into a USB port on the computer and (2) plug your instrument into the audio interface and (3) plug your headphones into the PC (4) put on your headphones an (5) play your instrument connected to the audio interface and simultaneously (6) listen ... Do the sound of your instrument reach your ears ? -

Will Basschat survive the Online Safety Act?
42Hz replied to fretmeister's topic in General Discussion
Somewhere in the depth of all this, I think there is a core topic of what kind of stuff to make public to which part of the population. IMO this topic is relevant, and clearly not uncomplicated to manage. Neither by operators nor by individual users. The debate/consideration nonetheless is relevant and important. -

Or maybe they have been influenced by bigger commercial interests. If this become real in UK it will also become real in rest of Europe. The winners - even if they claim differently - will be facebook and a few other monster players, predominantly counting in dollars, as they will lose competition. One effect is the centralisation and censoring of the (so called) social media so the reference to 1984 (Orwell's story) is right on. It has been an interesting journey this emerging and multiple transformations of the content on the internet. -

First Brexit, now brits will also have to leave the web ? -
In my present band we tend to act as a band when it comes to in and out. I have also been in a band where the singers would expect the lads to do all the work. We don't get out much so I still find it funny to set up and pack down.

For many years I found this song stupid - but now I think that it actually carries a message. We have to keep ourselves going. If not by playing bass then try another instrument, if not by playing, try consuming. Taking up a social dance (salsa/disco/tango/...) is also a great way to approach music - and may even give you something you find beneficial when you get back into playing the bass.

If you don't get feed back when writing Thomann you can also call their hotline on phone ... If you talk nice to them they will be nice to you 😉 -
Thomann - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly - A returns saga...

I mostly have big parcels delivered to my workplace. I once had to return a guitar to Thomann. They sent a label for a transport meaning that I had to send it via packet shop. I checked with them and facing the same kind of misery as you describe. I then asked Thomann for a different label/voucher. I had no problems with that, really, and the packet was sent and picked up (by probably DHL) at my workplace. If Thomann hasn't changed their policy it shouldn't be a problem. The QA issues sound bad. Up to now I heard mostly good about Sire but apparently they all can fail. I was gassing quite hard over the SBMM short scale but after reading of the big variation in quality I concluded that it was not worth the risk. I still use my cheap Squier for short scale. It wasn't perfect but in that price range (1/4 of the SBMM) it is easier just to shrug and do the fret level and replace the output jack. -
Wish you a good recovery. Thanks for answering.
