Ruin a Band or musician's name by replacing a single letter
42Hz replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
For some time I actually heard the name as "Gladys Knight and the Pimps" -
You're welcome. There are some good sounding basic toneprints there, among the lot. I use overdrive compression and octave. Even if the BH has two toneprint slot you can use only one at a time. Some of the toneprints available are combined tone prints - e.g. OD and compression. This may compensate for that, if you find a combined toneprint that suits your need. I would have appreciated the ability to edit the tone prints as well. Re the laurel-resting mentioned by neepheid I have the impression that the development og the effectmotor using the toneprint stopped when the company was sold. Which is a pity as many of the basic effects are actually quite good. I am not a fan of any of the artist toneprints and I am not a fan of the over-the-top self appraisal babble in the app but apart from that. Besides the BH I have a BG combo which essentially has the same features.

No document on signal chain but the way it reponds to tone knobs indicates (to me) that the toneprint is before eq.

Neither with the app, nor with PC via USB is it possible for me to edit the toneprints in the unit.

Drums, e.g. overdoing double kickdrumming actually ruins the sense of groove.

I have the 115MkII, which works fine for practice and small club gigs. MkII has two freely configurable tone print slots but only one of the can be active so I can select 1, 2 or none. As I understand the MkI you can select 1, 2, both or none which is one combination more. Which is better depend on your needs. The BG250 115 sounds fine an is reasonably light and reasonably loud.

Tinnitus has been my faithful companion for so long that if it wasnt there I might feel left alone. Hearing loss is f...ing annoying. Both are relatively symmetrical - which I consider good.

Santana's version of Evil Ways, Black Magic Woman, Jingo-lo-ba and She's Not There are stuck in my head as Santana songs.

I dont have a b1-four but with my Zoom MS-50 I need to turn it on in a special way if it is to accept a firmware update. That is described in the manual.

I have dealt a few times at https://www.banzaimusic.com. They are more component oriented than mainstream dealers. I needed a barrel jack for my Warwick and tgey had it. Also - not all barrel jacks are created equal. Compared to main stream shops Banzai are quite slow and unresponsive so be patient 🏖️ Here is one for Ibanez, look around and you may find: https://www.banzaimusic.com/ibanez-output-jack-1-piece-3jk1j23r.html

Thank you for sharing, @ChrisDev, much appreciated 🙏

Good evening. I have a couple of 4 string basses with P pickup and a Yamaha TRBX305 5 string bass with preamp. The passive Ps work well with the pedals I have tried but the pedals do not seem to interact as well with the TRBX bass. Or at least it takes a lot more effort to dial in some useful sounds. I am not convinced that it is the signal level from the bass as at least one of the Ps have fairly high output, probably similar to the TRBX with everything flat. Is this different pedalability common or more TRBX305 specific ? The TRBX sounds fine without effects, and so do the Ps with the main difference being a bit more clarity with the P.

I use a recorder - a phone can probably do as well - at most our rehearsals so I can relisten at home. The listening experience is often different from the playing experience. I used it to simplify my playing for de-mud'ing and for tightening the essential interaction with drummer. Maybe that would work for you as well in redefining the arrangements.

If you are going instrumental (no singer) you will have to rearrange everything, won't you?

Bass recommendations and advice playing with hand pain
42Hz replied to toastieman's topic in Bass Guitars
I also recommend good setup of your preferred instruments. A short scale solid body does not solve the problems with the upright. There are many quite good short scales around. Besides the ones mentioned there are a sub short (28.6") Squier P and Harley Benton has an 30" P as well, if cost doesnt matter too much there are many other short P types to choose from. Have a talk with a doctor or physiscist (if that is what they are called). Also old dogs can learn new tricks, so consider attending technique lessons given by a pro player. -
A p-bass with flats and tort pickguard will do wonders 😁

Play more. Not just you but also the drummer (Bruce/Baker style). Depending on the music you play some songs actually live better in a simple arrangement. Ask the drummer to work with her cymbals.

When I offer something for sale I consider what I would pay for the thing and and then add like 10-20% as most people will offer below the listed price no matter what. The level is 50-75% of new depending on condition and if the thing is going in and out of fashion. I do see instrument kept up for sale for long period but at high prices - which may be a factor for why they don't sell. To me that seems strange. I am more an either/or person if I decide that I dont want an instrument it will be sold. I'd rather give it away than have it for sale for several years at an unrealistic price.

The new Escher bass.😀

If its a paying gig then make sure you get your fair share. To mime or not to mime ... Follow your gut feeling about the band. I you feel it has a future take a discussion with the other in the band to get the concept clear and if playing direct instead of miming to backing track is impotant to you tell the other about it. If you disagree on such a fundamental issue - take money and run :-) If the sound of you bass is important for convincing miming, take your signal to a set of in-ears.

Happy NBD ! Just as the song goes (Summer of '69) or unrelated ? Happy healing, anyway 👩⚕️

Just looked at the manuals for some of these. Looks like really good options in comparison. Good mention. -
