How does the sound of these two compare? I know that the electronics are different, and the custom has the filter based preamp, but are there any similarities?

I bought a hard case for my double bass. It was like a small boat. Wouldn't fit through the attic hatch. Sold it and bought a canvas bag.
Sorry, but curiosity has got the better of me....if its a passive Pro II (not E) why has it got the battery compartment.....were they always like that?
The original Wal Pros all had the same scratchplate. Back in the day there was a passive to active upgrade kit.
It is just a joke. 11 is as loud 10. Like in Spinal Tap where the Marshalls go till 11. Don't think to much about it.
I'm pretty sure Rich knows it's a Spinal Tap reference - his post is a direct line from Spinal tap: Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and... Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten? Nigel Tufnel: Exactly. Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder? Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where? Marty DiBergi: I don't know. Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven. Nigel Tufnel:Eleven. Exactly. One louder. Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.
Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
[pause] These go to eleven. I'm not sure having th numbers go to eleven makes this any louder. The knobs go from 1 to 11, but you can reseat them so they go from 0 to 10. Perhaps it's my old age, but it doesn't sound much louder when it goes to 11. I still like the fact it goes to 11.

Someone asked for a picture of the end of the headstock. Thanks to everyone who bumped up the post. To reiterate some points... The bass is passive. Controls are volume and tone for each pickup plus a master tone. There is also a mini switch for each pickup, which I thin is a coil tap. The pickup selector switch does not work. You can toggle it between the three positions but both pickups are always on. You can still use the volume controls to turn the individual pickups off or on. Both pickups work well. Thanks Steve

Acoustic Image amp - any good for electric bass?
Sercet replied to Clarky's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I use mine with a Summit Audio T100D preamp. Great sound. -

Repainting a bass - will it really change the sound?
Sercet replied to The Dark Lord's topic in Repairs and Technical
I had a Wal bass refinished. I sounded better before the refinish.
