I imagine for £2,500 you could buy a bass, hunt Trevor Down, pay him a grand to sign your bass and still be left with £500 left over.

It’s always a compromise, but for me the MK or the SLB are the closest I’ve ever experienced.

Some kicked tyres, PM ping pong and a gaggle over £30 mean this bass is still here. In the spirit of Christmas why not offer me £680 and cuddle up with this majestic Marcus Miller? It’s cheaper than any you’ll find out there and it’s got a new set of Rotosounds on it too. What else can I offer? Oh, go on then I’ll Chuck in a Fender branded strap. But it doesn’t end there. I also have a packet of bear cakes that my mother in law bought for the kids but nobody want. Yes, I’ll include those too.

Big shout out for Thomann. The bass I ordered (B stock) wasn’t in stock. So not only did they offer me a brand new bass at the same price, the guy offered to know off a few more quid “for my inconvenience”. Quite amazing service.- 99 replies

I’m not sure DB lessons will help, to be honest. I experienced what you did with all EUBs and in the end, invested in an MK bass. Appreciate it’s not for everyone, but I just found my technique (as much as I have one!) was compromised too much by the Stagg that it affected ‘real’ DB playing.

Nice spot.

These transcriptions are just wonderful. What a fantastic thing to do with your spare time.

Agreed. I paid over £100 for mine in the 90s and it was a POS.- 99 replies

The sock was a winner, and I’m sure it improved my tone too so I’ve got a copyright on the idea and will be a millionaire (maybe!)
-
He looks like a super cool dude! It’s an ‘upgraded’ 60s or 70s Precision (I’d say 70s) jazz with a late 60s Telecaster neck fitted - check out the lollipop tuners.
-
That’s a brilliant idea. I’ll use a padded walking sock and see how I get on! I had considered cutting some foam to fit, but this is much more practical.

This is a weird question, but bear with me... We’ve converted our loft into and office/practice room which is amazing. I’ve got my DB set up but I find that lifting it off the stand often results in me hitting the eaves with the scroll. I could be careful, but I’m just a clumsy person, so wondered if anyone had any ideas on what I could put on top to protect the scroll. Any ideas?

He's now selling just the body on its own. Weird!

When you remove VAT and international shipping you’re left with, what, say £80. Given a 100% markup, these have to be landed in Germany for about £40, which is quite frankly incredible. I have a HB shirt scale which is amazing too.

Saving Britain's Pubs with Tom Kerridge

And to be fair he appeared to have driven to most of these pubs himself and he is a self-confessed former alcoholic so I reckon he deserves a pass. -
Saving Britain's Pubs with Tom Kerridge
Burns-bass replied to Nail Soup's topic in General Discussion
Watch the programme. It was actually really well made and Tom owns and runs 3 pubs himself, so certainly understands the business . My dad used to work in the trade, but I must admit to having almost no knowledge of how tough it is for publicans, particularly those in tied pubs. The concept of the show is Tom helping some amazing people make more money from their community pubs, and while I typically hate reality TV this was really good. The guys who run the pub in question seem like the perfect landlords, but the only ones losing out are them.
