Thats good to know. This was very much an impulse purchase that I regretted. My wife hasn’t noticed it (or mentioned it) yet, so that’s a good sign. It’s incredible to have it next to a TH500 or Elf. I mean the whole thing is mad really.

The head isn’t too bad. The cab on the other hand is obscene!

I read that these can power several cabs and that people often used them this way. It’s classic “pro level” 80s gear. The sound is incredible, but the weight or ridiculous, particularly when it’s sat next to a Trace Elliot Elf in the music room!!

I was bidding on a guitar at an auction and I saw this: https://auctions.doreandrees.com/catalogue/lot/7ad50fad34f6944428b146add59a403e/ad74375b82a358e6eef0ce537def266d/guitars-that-made-history-lot-44/ One speculative bid later and I bought 100kg of raw 80s power. Its a Marshall 3560 Silver Jubilee head in the worlds heaviest flight case, with a 4x10. They weigh an insane amount but my goodness the sound is amazing. Anyone have any hints or tips on getting the best out of the head? Or any experience with them?

Help - Missing Travis Bean TB2000 - #391

I wonder about what happens legally to ownership of the bass turns up again. If a seller buys at an auction of discarded parcels (which happen), for example, are they the legal owner or do they have to relinquish it to the buyer? This happened to me previously. A bass I bought was delivered to Spain (95 stingray) and was never found. -
I’m going through the DB book box and have some to get rid of. First up is the ultra-rare Eugene Cruft School of Bass Playing. This is the original book in good condition (with some wear to the binding, pictured and some pencil marks inside). This is an ultra rare book and regularly sells for $200. £75 seems fair but happy to take offers. Next is the classic Simandl bass method. Older copy but all good. £15 Finally DB Solo book by the reliable Hartley. £10 I’ll update this listing with more books when I get the chance.

Sick of struggling with intonating your 4003? Then the Babicz is for you! This is a drop-in replacement for the existing bridge, but is a whole world better. This is only for sale in the states at the moment, and not a cheap upgrade but essential particularly if you’re recording. Sustain is greater, adjustment easier and it looks awesome too! This has been used on my Ricky but isn’t needed now. The reason? I’ve had the dreaded tailpiece lift and am fitting a whole new brand new bridge unit. Check out the pics, also includes postage at £135. Come with tools, instructions and two base plates.

Nova Twins - incredible bass sound and really exciting band
Burns-bass replied to matybigfro's topic in General Discussion
They sound amazing. Shame I missed this gig, would have enjoyed that. -
Seemed a troubled chap who loved the rock and roll lifestyle. The band seemed to genuinely love and support him not cut him loose, which makes this sad.

I could never eat a big meal before a gig or fancied one after much. Guess it’s adrenaline.

Having a playable bass will make it easier to sell too. -
Chowny/Retrovibe to become fully UK brands

It’s not bad news, it actually seems very reasonable indeed. -
I think I have an entry-level bow somewhere. I’ll check if it’s French, if so it’ll be cheap!

I hated Rickenbackers until I played one. Now I love them.

Vintage 70's bass guitar - worth getting it fixed?
Burns-bass replied to dajaphonics's topic in Repairs and Technical
If you love the bass and want to make it work, then do the work! We live in a throwaway culture where it’s easier to buy a replacement than fix something, and as the guys say here it should be easy enough (if you are happy to get the drill out!). I don’t know much about their Devon hand value, but likely much higher than a Squier cost! If you want a good quality instrument that plays well and should need no work, go with the Squier. I found a Squier jag with the matching headstock for £90 locally ($120) and love it. -
So a white person can't be offended by a racist joke?
-
The problem is that you’re unlikely to be a marginalised group the target of humour. If someone came on here and the butt of every joke was a balding, post-50 year old man who is slightly overweight and buys loads of gear they can’t play very well then you may feel different. (I’m making a crass generalisation because that’s how this works…) Call it empathy, emotional intelligence or simply not being a Richard and you’ll be fine.

You don’t need to be the father of daughters to understand misogyny or the husband of a refugee to recognise prejudice (but it helps)
