  1. Sounds an awful lot like Average White Band which is obviously no bad thing.
  2. That’s a rare occurrence of it working, and great that it did!
  3. This is true, but the fault lies with us. We search for the lowest prices, knowing full well what that means, and then are upset when things sometimes go wrong. We’re conplicit in this situation by demanding ever lower prices. Im not preaching, I’m the same. (I know this isn’t the case for the OP so please don’t take it as a criticism. I hope your bass turns up!) My dad used to work in logistics and we once ran a reasonably successful removals business. The margins are so tight in this line of work and competition so high, wages are depressed across the board and it’s all about volume. This results in mistakes. In terms of numbers however, statistically I reckon the failure rate is probably consistent, but the volume of parcels we receive now is much higher. We always advised owners of high value goods (expensive furniture, hifi equipment etc) to transport it themselves as it’s the only way to guarantee your items get to their destination in one piece. I do the same with basses, I mean, what courier could I entrust a near mint 64 jazz with? And the insurance policies are worthless too. They’re so fulL of caveats it’s almost impossible to claim. The courier companies naturally use secondary providers, which means they’re reluctant to claim too. Insurance for our removals company was in the thousands and we never once claimed on it.
  4. I think it's admirable. It's what I would do (and have done) for friends before, and you're extending that to the Basschat family. As the kids probably never ever said: Nuff Respeck.
  5. The title of this thread is proper clickbait stuff and seems particularly poorly timed considering Aretha’s recent death. Our relationship with music isn’t rational, it’s emotional. What moves you may leave me cold; that’s the power and wonder of music.
  6. I’ve seen this before. It’s not necessarily play wear but can happen if the string are pressed against the board for a long period of time in a soft case resting against something else, or if they are banged against the board (bass fell over perhaps?) I see it as another piece of history, but if it were a clear board I would have been disappointed too. If it’s minor wear then it’ll come out with the appropriate fretboard oil.
  7. Glad to see you've still got that Musicman. Rare and very beautiful finish.
  8. Still here and looking beautiful (sadly only one of those things can be said about me)
  9. This is a wonderful 1950s Fender Roadworn Stratocaster. Built in 2017 it’s a wonderful guitar. Set up for blues it had heavy gauge strings and just feels right. The neck is a nice V shape and the back finish worn like an old Strat should be. It seems weird to describe a Roadworn Strat as pristine, because of course it isn’t - but all the wear has been done at the factory. This is a 2017 mode and hasn’t been fogged heavily or abused. it includes all the case candy and the original receipt for £1075 in 2017. It comes with a padded soft case too. I can’t send this as it’s too nice.
  10. It looks great. If you love it, then nothing else matters.
  11. A Brompton. They look stupid and are expensive new, but picking one up second hand I've used it almost every day for a month. Fantastic piece of engineering, well built and entirely practical.
  12. I’d take a look at the Squier Mustang. Nice basses, great to play and cheap too.
  13. We were given a free set of bongos by a neighbour. We have them to my 2 year old and life (and my ears) haven’t been the same since.
  14. You can play blues in more than 12 bars! Joking aside, and to offer some advice that may be useful, any modern solid state rig will be fine and dandy but I’d buy I’d get a valve overdrive pedal like the DHA VT1 to give it some authenticity.
  15. I realise that now. Lots of people like peas and I don’t... Personally I’d have a wall of valves, an old P-Bass and a chequered relationship history if I was regularly playing blues. I have two (just missing the P bass).
  16. Do I have to? I don’t reallt consider that blues. They’re all incredible players, but, well, meh.
  17. A 5 string for blues? Sacrilege. I reckon I could do a whole set on the E string alone.
  18. Personally I wouldn’t break what looks like a nice guitar for a project like this...
  19. Don’t worry Andy, one will turn up when you’ve got some cash I’m sure. They’re really nicely made guitars. I’ve been very surprised, and pleased with it. I could never justify the expense of Gibson, but this gets me as close as I needed. Sad to see it go, but hope someone will love it.
  20. It pains me to do this but I’m a Strat player at heart and this is doing very little at home on its own. Its an immaculate condition B.B. King Lucille model. Made in Korea, it’s a lovely instrument. I bought this as a jazz guitar and it excels at that. The action is good, and the sounds you can make exquisite. The bridge is a much more solid contraption than the type you’d normally find on an Epiphone dot. It’s got the lovely inlays and there’s enough gold on this to satisfy B.B. King or Kanye West. The Grover timers are solid and all in all this is a beauty. Condition wise it’s lovey. It’s been played very little by me and always treated with care. There is some minor pitting / discolouration on the 6-way selector and a few minor marks on the pickups too. There are no marks to the glossy black finish. Im selling as I have a few strats and a PRS and this guitar always seems a target for my aggressive daughter. I’ve stopped her (so far), but it’s always a struggle! These set necks are notoriously fragile so it’s collection only. I have a Kingsman case that fits but you need to support the neck so it’s not really suitable for shipping. Price is £375. Always interested in trades.
