  1. For 40 years in the music business, I reckon he's doing OK! Interesting interview, and he seems like a real gent to give up a load of his time and not bang on about his pedals (which has to be the reason whey he agreed).
  2. I’d be interested in where you got these stats from.
  3. Price reduced to £850 because I want this to go to a good home and my toddler is perilously close to hitting it with something and I’d hate for that to happen!
  4. That's true. We have it on in the office and it's pretty dull. I nearly hurled a stapler when I heard "Going for Gold" by Shed Seven. At least the old dinosaurs on Planet Rock wouldn't stoop that low.
  5. When I was in a local pub (Forest of Dean) someone made a crack about shagging sheep, to which an old soak at the bar shouted: "We don't shag sheep, we rape outsiders." It was crude, but got the point across adequately.
  6. Bit of a histrionic response there, but it is the internet so fair enough. I'll also counter that the majority of the music I listen to I already own in another format (I'm old enough to have bought cassettes, CDs and MP3s). How many more times does Paul McCartney need me to pay him £10 for Rubber Soul? But I take your point. I'd be happy to pay more for access to music through streaming services, and am sure I'll be asked too in the future. I also am completely aware that I'm a licensee of the content not an owner but I'm happy with that. Having been encumbered by a huge music collection in the past, I'm happier with the ability to enjoy the music without owning the artefact but would welcome a fairer split of the profits between content provider and platform.
  7. On the flip side, a CD would cost me £15, now I have access to an almost limitless amount of music for £9.99 a month. Progress my friend!
  8. I should point out this happened about 18 years ago, so I’m sure this was all reasonable then but sadly I can’t tutn back time. The shop Was (and indeed still is) known for being disreputable,
  9. I thought this too. They flat out refused and told me to take them to court. I was about 20 and didn’t have the confidence or know how to do this, so I just took the loss and moved on. In the wider scheme of things it’s a lesson learned.
  10. It's a tough one. When i t happened to me, the shop I bought it from said they had purchased it in good faith and that there was nothing they could do. So I lost the Eden amp and the cash. Hey ho. Since then I've always asked for a receipt. Nobody has refused!
  11. I'm selling my Yamaha SLB100 with Fishman pickup because I'm looking for a slight change. This is acknowledged as one of the best options for an EUB, with the really fascinating frame providing a really realistic approximation of playing a double bass. The stock piezo pickup is OK, but one of the previous owners fitted a Fishman pickup which is fantastic and just helps to create a really great sound. The bass has been used (and owned by some Basschat royalty) but is in great condition and comes complete with the case too. You can see the general condition in the photos, but I'm happy to provide any additional images you may require. The bass packs down really neatly and can be stowed away in a cupboard, or left in a corner to be picked up when it needs to be. The SLB is a perfect bass for those wanting to practice, with a headphone jack and the ability to also use your own input (I used it for playing along with my iPad which was perfect!). I just need to create a bit of space in the house as we're having another baby. The bass is located in Bristol and I genuinely think it's going to be impossible to send, but I'm happy to meet up at a reasonable distance for you to check it out and do a deal. I'm interested in trades, so do let me know what you have. Finally, I'm looking for £1200 for the whole package, which is a steal given that the retail price new in the UK is somewhere near £4,000.
  12. Yes, I agree. Always ask for a receipt with full details. I once had the misfortune to have purchased an amp that turned out to be stolen. The receipt was what stopped me from being arrested. It was a horrible situation.
  13. Here for sale is my 2004 Desert Gold Musicman Stingray. This is an absolute beast of a guitar and the pickup is just incredibly powerful. It's in the rare desert gold colour scheme, with the matching headstock. It looks absolutely fantastic on stage with a sort of lustre that you get on the candy apple red custom colour Fenders. It's all completely original and the only slight flaw is the mark on the headstock (pictured). There are some minor marks, but they're very hard to spot. I've hopefully pictured them all. One of the bridge saddle height adjusters is a little worn, and I can replace this should you wish (it still works perfectly well, but isn't perfect!). There is also some slight wear on the pole pieces which is commensurate for being used. I've cleaned this properly, and you can see it in the pictures. The bass has recently been set up with brand new Rotosounds, the fretboard cleaned and lemon oiled. Action is relatively low for a Stingray and there's no fret buzz. When played it's loud, fat and sounds pretty much how you want a Stingray to sound! Price reduced to £850 £825 I'd prefer not to send it because there is no case, but if I do then I will buy a cheap case from Gear for Music and send it in that. It will add £25 to the price (plus postage). Trade wise, I'm open so let me know what you have.
  14. Probably about £20,000. It's a lot less now that I've sold the pre-CBS basses, but still an awful lot really. I couldn't justify spending thousands now, so I recycle the gear I have (buying and selling), which seems to work OK.
  15. I’ve got a Ultra Bass Mute that never been used. (Wolf Endpin now sold) Mute is £12.50 including postage Wolf Endpin is £SOLD pics below...
  16. When I gave up Cycling properly I sent a huge package of my old gear to a charity that distributed it to cyclists in Africa. Tubes, tyres, wheels, jackets etc. It was great to know that while my passion had gone, the stuff is built up was used by other people. Perhaps you could get a bit of inspiration doing the same with the old books and stuff? (I’m not telling you what to do with your own possessions, just saying what helped me!)
