  1. This is all solid knowledge, and why I love Basschat. The bass probably is a good buy, but weighing it all up (quite literally given the bass was on the heavy side!) I decided on the SS Jaguar. I tried it and found it a nice weight and well balanced, and about half the price (with the VAT off).
  2. Cheers Jono, brilliant info. In the end I decided to order my daughters a new Jaguar bass which I can use. The shape felt better in the shop and I get VAT off so it’s all good.
  3. Yeah, that’s good advice. I hadn’t ever seen one of these mini jazz basses before, hence me being interested in opinions. It seems they’re quite scarce which either means they’re rare and desirable or junk. I’ll sleep on it.
  4. I asked for advice precisely because I haven’t decided...
  5. It wanted advice as to whether the bass was worth the price, what people had found during ownership, how it compares to other short scales etc. Hopefully that helps.
  6. If we all thought like that out economy would never grow... It’s a fair point. To explain further, I thought it might be a good bass to have for the future for my kids to learn on and to have around the house and to use at practices. I currently only have one electric i use (my 1966 is stuck under a bed), so thought I might be a good back up. This is what I class as not really needing something.
  7. Good point. Jazz bass.
  8. I can’t see why you’d bother. Just keep it and then sell it the next time and Eminence comes up for sale...
  9. Right, advice needed. I’ve found a modern player shortscale. It has refinished in black and fitted with hipshots and Seymour Duncan’s. Needs a clean and a set up but I can do all that. It’s £300. I don’t really need it, but it played nicely. Any advice from current owners on whether they’re worth it etc.?
  10. Now £750 (as a whole rig) Head: £450 Cab £300
  11. I’ve found something else o want. Come and take me away and build your dream bass (sort of) for £155 (delivered!)
  12. Cheers buddy. Price reduced a bit, how about £475 for the head and £300 for the cab.
  13. It’s an amazing bass. I want it back (but can’t afford it). We checked this when I bought it and there are fewer than 100 in the world.
  14. Swap for your Musicman Stingray? ;/)
  15. Too expensive. Reduced to £175 delivered.
  16. This is a wonderful scratchplate then. And a huge discount on the new price!
  17. Here is my sunburst Chinese made Modern Player jazz body. It comes complete with the original humbucking jazz pickups. It's got an amazing high-mass bridge and swapped out knobs. It's in wonderful condition, take a look at the pictures. Simply stick on a neck and you're good! Price is now £155 including delivery.
  18. Was this my old one? If so it’s exquisite.
  19. That's my daughters little hand in the background...
  20. Aguilar TH500 in near mint condition. This comes with carry case and is literally unmarked. I hesitate to call it mint, but it's about as good as you're going to get without buying a sealed unit. Here's to one of the most amazing sounding modern heads out there. £450 including delivery.
  21. Fair enough, I’m not an industry insider so can’t judge on composition etc. I think people encouraging Gibson to make better guitars are totally right, but good or bad has no relevance to IP.
  22. I don’t know what this video means for the second hand market but I don’t think it’s weird at all. It’s a well made video with a clear message. Good for Gibson I say.
  23. Really interesting perspective, and I agree. I should say I'm only 38 so don't remember the 70s, but I've been a record collector and soul, jazz and funk fan for 20 years. I've got a lot of friends who are record collectors too, so I've been listening to a lot of rare stuff from around the world for years and always seek out new music where I can. Ultimately, the power of music is to move us - as you said in a previous post. While Vulf leaves me cold, I remember the visceral thrill of hearing my first Meters track and how it changed my feelings about music. If Vulf and Joe are moving people in the same way, then all power to them. And if they moved me like that I'd damn well wear a T-shirt!
