Sounds good. I'm all done now and have 96 alcohol wipes left (if anyone needs any?)

Guess they're victims of their own popularity. Either that or Will is falling over the UK's largest collection of used Musicman Stingray basses (currently 15).

Hello! I'm selling my David Gage Czech Ease bass and flightcase. If you didn't know, these are a full 3/4 scale bass with a uniquely designed body shape. This one is all-ply construction, but it feels and sounds wonderful. I bought this as I had several outdoor gigs and I needed a portable bass (compared to the metal one). The metal one has now sold and a new wooden bass means this is surplus to requirements . The bass is in good used condition. This has been gigged (across the world, I believe) and has some scars to prove it. there are no marks or dents on the neck but there are marks all over the body (none that have caused cracks or damage) and a small chip out of the scroll (which, would you believe it, is removable!) The bass has had a recent set up and a new set of Spirocore Orchestral strings. It sounds wonderful, rich and vibrant. Action is low and the bass is ready to go. It comes with the official David Gage moulded flightcase. It doesn't, however, come with a gigbag. The original supplied with the bass pershed and I haven't had a chance to purchase a replacement. This is factored into the price. The David Gage pickup is nearly new (replaced the existing one which wore out). The only slight issue I want to raise is a small gap in the wood at the bottom where the string wire grabs the end pin. This is stable, has never moved and isn't a fault or failure, but I wanted to mention it. Images as requested. This was checked as part of the set-up and is fine. The price of £1995 I think is good value. I will not send the bass anywhere. I won't entrust it to a courier or your friend with a van. I'm not really interested in trades. Finally, I'll be away from 24 August to 30th – but can welcome you here to check out the bass before and after those dates. Here come the pictures...

…and when they buy it they don’t actually check it all that well (as I can attest)

Yep.

How does that work?

Andreas Zeller 4/4 ... DB to the max - *SOLD*

Yes, Chris and I had this conversation. It’s based around the Czech Ease bass I own. I bought it as a lightweight and easy to carry bass for gigs when the metal one was too heavy. Now the metal one has been replaced with a wood one, I now longer need two. Solves a problem I don’t have. So that’ll be up for the cull after my holiday as it’s currently used as a cat bed.

That’s a great tip. I have a bottle I used for electric bass fretboards which I used. All this help was perfect in cleaning up the bass and getting it ready for new strings

Thomann customer service was excellent.

Seeking Stingray Musicman 1987 serial number: 25526
Burns-bass replied to Jonathan49's topic in General Discussion
Did you own this before or just want it because it was made on your date of birth? Either is absolutely fine. I’m just intrigued. I’d not consider the whole idea of buying something because of production date until I heard the YOB bass thing. Still don’t get that either, but we’re all unique. -
Spirocore Weichs - Year old - £49 - *SOLD*

Spirocore Weichs. Been used for around a year, but in excellent shape. The silks haven’t been cut and there are no kinks or damage. Industry standard strings. Will take a picture tomorrow. Looking for £49 plus postage and will package in a Spirocore box (Orchestral strings. The ones I’ve fitted to replace these!)

Great tip! My brother bought me one of these, maybe we’ll use that. https://www.crystalheadvodka.com

I’m with you 100%. A strip down, clean and a set up is all part of taking ownership. I did this on a double bass this week and now it feels mine. It’ll properly be part of the family after the first gig.

Im not sure if this is a joke or some kind of old Russian tip!

Update is in. The alcohol wipes worked an absolute treat. Thanks for that, great tip!

OK, so I used some switch cleaner on everything and it's now producing a sound. The one issues I can see is that there's a switch that feels weak. It alternates between the signals (guitar - guitar/synth - synth). Do you think if this switch was faulty it could be causing the cutting in / cutting-out stuff? The unit itself appears to function perfectly well, so I can't see that's a problem.

That’s wonderful to know. Might take the bad boy to Chinatown later (love that song)

Thanks. I’ve ordered some alcohol wipes and will update!

Bog standard beater bass. But will do pics when it’s clean!

I just picked up a really lovely old Musima bass which will do for my indoor and outdoor gigs. However, the fingerboard is err, a bit rank! I’m going to swap the strings so I can clean it then. What would you recommend I use to do so? Appreciate it.

There’s no chance I’ll be able to do it. Thanks for the link. I’ll drop them a message!
