This is a good point. I’d never buy a bass sight-unseen from someone who isn’t a player themselves as they really don’t know what they have or are selling.

This was 18 months ago. To be fair, the market does seem to have gone bonkers recently but these were always poorly made and heavy. Plus they’re not really played by anyone famous which limits value to some degree.

I was offered on for £1500. They’re not particularly desirable.

I have literally taken delivery of an 801 today and I’d thoroughly recommend it. Appreciate all the @jrixn1 help and advice narrowing the choices down.

Agreed. Despite being active in the buying and selling forums I’ve only used the same 2 basses for gigs over the last 5 years - one I’ve owned for 25 years. What’s more important than cost is the time you spend getting to know your instrument I reckon. It has taken me 4 months to finally get a sound I like from my new double bass, for example.

I recently strained my thumb and have to wear a brace (picture supplied!). The physio recommended training up to get some strength and so I bought these two tools. One is a finger strengthener the other is a sort of portable fretboard thing. The hand strengthener helped a lot. Hand is much better now, so taking up space. £10 delivered?

£3.99 fish fingers? Must have been some line-caught cod fish fingers from Waitrose.

I played massive gigs with £400 basses. In the end, none of it matters much. Play the music you like on the instruments you love and forget all the rest.

I gave up for nearly 10 years as I just didn't find playing music fun or interesting anymore. World kept turning and now I enjoy it again. Invest your time and energy in things you love and your life will be worth it. (And don't spend too much time at work!) Best of luck for the future.

Nice one! What a curio this is. Give Jo Bonamassa a call and treble your money.

I guess my concern is that you’ll be leaving the bass on the floor which will result in damage. Could you potentially use a wall hook? Alternatively, given the majority of the weight is at the base, something like this might work. https://www.yamahamusiclondon.com/product.php?product_id=STD-01-RD&source=froogle&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD8vqVrIDqoEE3jUQps9Wzmh2jJgp&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgdC6BhCgARIsAPWNWH0xf1NMchvgRIYACGEaF2D1Mg44jZFOuvxqR9yZt3EdRmmnOqTJe8IaAps6EALw_wcB Still be precarious but if you don’t have little kids running around it might be OK?

Played a hellish gig in centre of the city. Audience twice drunkenly crashed into the singer while dancing. Drunk redhead thought she was J-Lo and danced suggestively to wind up her boyfriend (which worked). Two people thought it would be a good idea to lift lift out and play the singers harmonicas and someone tried to barge past me while I was playing to get his coat (which I’d already told him I’d moved). I swore at him and pushed him and he spent the next ten minutes staring at me me. (Was a very small, angry lawyer type.) Only saving grace was the fantastic bar staff and manager and the fact I got two incredible whisky sour cocktails for free.

I started gigging mine again until I found a replacement would cost me £12,999 at Andy Baxter. Since been retired once again!

if it doesn’t bring you joy, or have any use, get rid of it. I did that with all my unwanted and unused gear. Lost a few quid but mentally much happier.
