  1. Some interest, but still here...
  2. It sounds like a potential con, but it may have been that his account was compromised (perhaps?). I can never understand why anyone would bother to make a few hundred quid, but perhaps that's me. What would be useful, if you're happy to do so, is to list all of his fake accounts and I can add them to my banned buyers list if/when I ever list anything again.
  3. I know this store, it's (relatively) local to me. They had some other great old gear in there, including a pristine Wyman Bass and a load of old Vox stuff. I spoke with a member of the team and apparently it's an old man who wanted to get rid of it all, and they pay him cash. Whether that's true or not, I guess is impossible to know, but they have had some impressive vintage gear in there. Price wise this seems pretty much London retail.
  4. Ebay is minefield for sellers nowadays. When I sell, I just mark it as cash on collection only. I'll always request a phone number and speak to the person if I can. And I'll happily meet halfway (although setting up an Eminence at Newbury Services was quite an experience!) Anyway, what this chap's doing isn't illegal, but it's disingenuous and using your images and description is just cheap. I don't think there's anything wrong in making a profit, but to sell something you don't own (drop shipping) is bad business. Sad you cant advertise it on here I guess, but good luck with it.
  5. Haha, he wanted it for a tour. Lovely bloke, very talkative. Was in about 2003 I think, can’t remember. I’ve had all sorts of gear in and out of my place. The bass was lovely but the tracking on the synth unit a piece of crap. Would have liked to have kept it but it was all flight cased too, so massive!
  6. Some interest, but it’s still here taunting me (it’s saying: don’t sell me, refuse to pay you’re mortgage instead...!)
  7. I’ve had two of these. Great basses! I sold one to Phil Oakey of the Human League fame.
  8. Recorded an album with Johnny Burns of Genesis fame (he worked with everyone in the 70s), mastered at Real World, signed a distribution deal in Germany and the record sold about 2 copies I think. I don’t even have one (but I do have a t shirt somewhere). Played the Albert Hall and some other big gigs and toured around on the prog scene with the big names for a bit. First ever gig I did was with Wilco Johnson (Norman Wattroy used my rig and we had a chat but I was callow and didn’t really talk to him about how awesome he was), and it got better from there. Arthur Brown was good fun, Carl Palmer was mad and the Australian Pink Floyd were thoroughly lovely. I remember a lot of optimism dashed against the rocks of reality. Nobody really liked what we did apart from the guy who knew the record company I think. Don’t consider this making it, but it was good fun. Never got paid, band was full of angry men and I knocked it on the head to start writing for a living which is a very similar proposition! When I was younger I thought I would have loved to tour the world and all that, but I don’t think I would have really. I enjoyed the booze a little too much and I’m sure I was a total (expletive deleted).
  9. That would be one hell of a funky jam.
  10. Definitely give them to a charity shop!
  11. I don’t look like a rock star but my mother in law owns a house in the Seychelles that’s forms the entire of my wife’s retirement provision.
  12. I saw this bass down at Martin's workshop and it looked absolutely beautiful. I didn't play it (obviously!) Good luck with the sale.
  13. Just weighed it at a request of an interested party and she’s a very reasonable 4.3kg.
  14. I've got a complete set of Spirocore Weichs. These were used for 1 - 2 hours on my upright, then removed. I had to use the G for another bass (now sold) so I bought a new, sealed one. The whole set (E, A, D, G) can be yours for £110 delivered.
  15. Did a trade deal for my Eminence upright. Simple, stress free and an absolute top guy all round.
  16. They are wonderful instruments. I’d say everything is built to higher standards than the Fender reissues I’ve seen, with a higher attention to detail.
  17. Here for sale is my 1962 Bravewood Jaco Bass clone. It's a roadwork replica of one of the world's most famous basses, and Bravewood have done a fantastic job. I took this in trade against my genuine pre-CBS jazz and the neck is a really similar feel. The nitro finish feel genuinely like an old one, and the wear actually seems pretty accurate too. The bass has an ebony fingerboard, period-style reverse tuners and custom wound Pre-Cbs Bare knuckles pickups. The bass, and the hardware, and the next are purposefully distressed. Back of the neck finish is worn too, as you'd expect. Sound is 100% pure Jaco tone if you like that sort of thing, and if not, it's just a brilliant fretless. Like all Bravewood guitars it's a handmade instrument, built to the highest standards and feels (to me at least) as equivalent to, and in some respects superior than, the Fender reissues. Like all Bravewoods this has the period correct Fender logo, and nothing else. I know some people don't like this, but I respect Bravewood for what they're doing, and class this as a tribute rather than a fake. Price is £1350 collected from sunny (today, at least) Bristol. Trades are anything with a Fender logo on it. I don't want or need anything else. There is no case, although I do have a professional flight case I would consider selling with the bass. It's too heavy for me to send in the flight case. It was purchased by its previous owner here (I believe the correct listing is below...) )
  18. Here is my functional, quirky and a lot of fun Kala U Bass. This is the mahogany model, a Rumbler I believe. It comes with the case as pictured, and plays really well. It comes with an additional set of strings which are still sealed in the packet. Price includes postage in the UK. I can't see any marks on the bass, and certainly nothing that stands out. I got this as part of a trade, but I don't really play it as I'm now (hides face) playing guitar more. Based in Bristol if you want to come and take a look.
  19. Up for sale is my eminence Upright. This is the model with a removable neck, custom designed Fishman, the flight case, the soft case, and the stand! It's basically everything you need... I'm selling it because I don't really use it. I purchased it from the site here around a month ago, but it's in my house doing nothing and that seems a shame. You can see from the pictures that it's in very good condition, but there are some marks. The action is reasonably good, although you may want to lower it for fast jazz stuff. It's entirely up to you. The pickup is actually very good, and the bass really does amplify well. It's the closest you will get to an upright sound from an EUB (I've had most of them). The stand is actually really usable, and the bass rests on you with the strange - but highly functional - rest. The soft case is in good condition and the flight case usable, although there are two catches that have broken off. If you'd like any more images, let me know. I"m based in Bristol and would love for you to come and see it. Always interested in trades, but I don't need another EUB or DB.
  20. “Please send me a £10 note...” Legend.
  21. Totally agree. Its a great idea but when it turns into this cow poop experience it’s sad. People queuing up to buy records to flip for a few quid a couple of hours later...
  22. What you could do is to try and locate the instrument. Do you have the serial number of it and any photos? It may have gone abroad or be broken up for parts, but who knows. The '6 degrees of separation' thing is likely to be shortened in the small world of bass players. Has to be worth at least a try.
  23. Absolutely agree. I’ve met some fantastic people on FB too, but with the internet these bargains are few and far between so I’m always cautious particularly on FB.
