  1. Cheers Jack. The issue I have with the G75 is that it’s a big unit and if I move it’s a little unstable is kept in place with Velcro and I can’t slip it in place for obvious reasons. I think the bug unit is the way to go. Smoothound looks great but is out of stock. I don’t want to open up a can of worms, but given you and I are similar Jack, can you share the link to the unit you use (or message me). Just finished a gig and I nearly had someone whack a lead out.
  2. Can I ask what battery life you get?
  3. Perfect. Thanks for the encouragement guys. In going to spend a week or two trialling it. Have a NYE gig but think I’ll stick with wires for that
  4. Hi all. I’ve recently started considering going wireless with the double bass after several issues at gigs where the cable was removed from the pickup. Does anyone here use one? I have the G75 system and it’s brilliant. But the relay is big and I may need to mount it on the bass. I use a Realist pickup so this would probably need to be on the tailpiece. Would love to hear your experiences, opinions etc.
  5. How many bands are you in? If I’m reading this I figure you’ve got 5 band leaders. Is that correct? All joking aside, hope it gets better for you. Our singer had a very personal tragedy earlier this month and so all gigs are cancelled in one band.
  6. I get all that. I meant that Ped won’t lose his house!
  7. Listened more. He's quite incredible isn't he.
  8. The bass at the start of the clip sounds like an angry dinosaur. Not my sort of music but the guy is obviously quite an incredible player. Sounds a lot like the sort of gospel chops videos I've seen before.
  9. I'm so sorry to hear this Chris. There seem to be two sorts of sellers those who are happy sell items with a problem and those who are unwilling to do so. I've met examples of both on BC (and in the real world) sadly. I was going to do a trade this week but noticed 2 issues before selling that I couldn't in good conscience not fix before sending the bass on its way. That's why we are who we are. I'm sure there's a solution here and I hope you find it. I'm sure you will.
  10. Hopefully your legal status as a Ltd company should exempt you from personal liability and any insurance should cover the (very small) risks.
  11. Very good. Made me smile.
  12. They’re actually cool little amps these.
  13. BGH stencilled on the top stands for Bristol Ghost Hunters. I only checked Facebook to see that Epiphone Thunderbird but now I’m intrigued. Might get them round here to explain why half a packet of Cheddars disappeared yesterday.
  14. David is (I understand) an incredibly respected educator. The downloaded stuff just makes sense and I watched a few videos online and they can actually be fun, too. I’d to hear your recommendations for other resources that would be useful.
  15. I have now downloaded the book and it’s excellent. Would recommend.
  16. I went from the HD350 to the Reidmar and I love it. 60-80 gigs a year and it never misses a beat.
  17. I get this. One of the UKs biggest retailers makes us wait 90 days. But I pay our freelancers after 7. I have to absorb the cost but it’s worth it to keep good people around.
  18. Nothing wrong with that. I’ve done that on outdoor gigs.
  19. I think this expensive gear helps, but only up to a point. I've been to several vintage guitar shops and heard people trying out expensive gear and they sound dreadful. Why? Becuase they're stupid (or deluded) enough to think that an expensive instrument will make them sound good. What it will do is help you to sound as good as you can (with your current technique) but an expensive bass won't make you a better player. Only practice and experience can do that. This is the same with any hobby or interest. I went to buy a new bike and my friend who works in the shop politely told me that no new bike would have as much of an impact as losing 2kg of weight and riding the bike I had every day. The point was made politely and it's 100% true.
  20. Epiphone Jack Cassidy bass I found is (pound for pound) the best. Made exceptionally well, look amazing and sound incredible.
  21. This one has probably gone to one of the bedroom dealers. There’s a guy called String Theory Guitars who makes his living buying cheap from marketplaces then selling in his shop. Hardly a sustainable business model (or a particularly good one) but all power to him on these times.
  22. No I didn’t buy it. It was just marked as sold and he never responded. I’ve had one of these before and it wasn’t something I enjoyed playing so I’m not too worried. Hope whoever bought it loves it!
  23. I’m no puritan about this, but I guess for me constantly looking at the neck would hurt my neck and arm. I’m guessing classical players might use a line as a way to get the right key at the start of a performance they won’t be checking it as they’re playing (at least I’ve not seen that at any of the classical concerts I’ve been to). In the end, it doesn’t matter really. I just think if you’re trying to learn from scratch it’s best to have a crack at the orthodox approach.
