    To be fair, you’ve effectively described the vintage instrument market in about 3 paragraphs. I’m not suggesting any of these things is *worth* the cash - far from it. The original post was asking what the collectibles of the future will be, and it will inevitably be the stuff that’s discarded. None of this stuff is logical, is it? We exist in a world where some kids aren’t eating 3 meals a day and adults are paying thousands of pounds for boxed Star Wars toys and Pokemon cards.

    Publishing is an incredibly tough business with lots and lots of interdependencies and deadlines. If you’re messing around with it, you’re going to run into problems - which certainly seems to be the case here. Shame. Thankfully you should all be covered by PayPal.

    Studios want authentic sounds. Stuff like Mellotrons, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer pianos, Tape-based echo systems and (to some extent) vintage guitars are all fragile, yet expensive. I guess we should accept that logic doesn’t necessarily have a huge part to play in nostalgia and vintage value. I may of course be wrong and all this stuff will end up in a skip.

    I should also point out, the litter tray has come from inside the loft (and is going back in!) I don’t have a music room with a litter tray in it because that would be disgusting.

    Hello! This is is highly likely to be the best double bass starter package out there. I’m selling a 2004 Musima Double Bass (3/4). It’s all ply construction with an ebony fingerboard and has recently had a full set up, new bridge and endpin installation from Tom Allen in Bath. The strings are nearly new Spirocore Orchestral which are big sound and low tension. (All this cost lots and lots.) The bass is big, bold and sounds amazing. I’ve used it on countless gigs and I love it. I’m selling because I simply haven’t got the space for two (see bottom image). The pickup you see isn’t included. I will remove this, however there are some optional extras including a brand new Realist pickup and a super heavy duty Thomann gigbag I can include for an additional cost. The bass is in excellent shape. There is one small crack at the bottom (pictured). This isn’t a big deal and isn’t structural and in no way affects the sound or integrity of the bass.     Quite how they make these things for these things for the price I have no idea, but this is a really cool Squier Jazz Bass Deluxe. This is in excellent condition. I’ve had it checked out by a tech who replaced the battery cover and checked over the electronics. The bass has new strings on it as well. Hoping for £200 The price is for collection.     Yes, I know - that’s why I can see them increase in price! Even stuff like MPC samplers are now rising in price. Studios will want to have some of these items in house for musicians.

    Seriously though, I think there are just too many guitars on the market and that they won’t hold their value. Personally I think electronic equipment (synths, samplers, drum machines etc) are going to keep value as will some boutique pedals.

    I think all this stuff matters to those with a preternatural musical ability and senses like Jacob, but for 99.9% of us, it’s irrelevant.

    I do think it’s really off that they didn’t provide the scale length here. The descriptions can be quite brief. When you see stuff like “neck reset” it’s essential you check the guitar over. It’s a cool place and the vibe there is really good, but definitely know what you’re buying.

    I bought a 1970s Mustang with a seized truss rod. This is certainly something you’d hope they would check!

    It’s a good question. I think original Warwick basses are a good investment. They’re wonderfully well made, sound amazing and are relatively cheap. Spectors, too fit into this. I think there’s a correction due in the vintage market for Fenders, but I’m probably going to be proved wrong.

    They have had a few basses for sale that aren’t what they claim to be. It’s really disappointing when this happens and you’re right.l, they should know better.

    It’s nuts and all that but I have a few festivals to play this year and I need to upstage the guitarist somehow. This one has a jazz width neck, too, which is so rare on a bass this size.

    This is the point. It’s not that people trade, it’s that they do so disingenuously. I sold a guitar to one person who gave me some BS about it being for his kid and then it turned up for sale on his website a few days later with some fictitious original story and the price doubled. I happily have sold and traded to shops and other traders and it’s often a pleasure to do so.

    This is true. In my experience, HMRC have been very good. As long as you can speak to someone, they're fair, clear and understanding.
