Olympic white sounds 26% better than sunburst. Candy apple red is 42% better!

I should really know this but (jazz chart question)

The large chords are for melody-instruments and soloing. The smaller chords are the bass notes. The melody players will need you to play these notes to bounce off, so keep it simple and avoid substitutions I’d say. -
What a wonderful thing to do. It must have meant a lot to him.

No worries! I couldn’t remember who I sold it to.

Is this my old one? That bass was considered the best original 64” that the vintage shop has ever seen. Nothing had ever been touched on it and they had every minute of its existence documented through the family.

Filthy old bass for the same price as a terraced house in Wales. I know why I’d buy!

Richard is a thoroughly lovely chap and we’ve done a few deals, just thought it was worth mentioning. Think I had your old SLB Chris. Was a beautiful thing and that’s what I need now for practice. My aluminium bass is the love of my life but too loud when the kids are asleep! When I’ve picked up the SLB, you’re more than welcome to give it a try Richard if you’d like?

I’ve already paid a deposit for the SLB 200 so that might help your decisions.

Here’s the jazz bass… https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_62cc_dr.htm

Not sure if anyone has seen this but Thomman is knocking 25% off some best selling basses and guitars. https://www.thomann.de/gb/social_harley-benton-25.html You can get the absolutely incredible jazz bass (I have one and it’s very very good) for £102. This is an incredible price.

Tim’s got this bang on. Splitting it into 5 makes no sense. And paying to join a band? Absolutely insane. If the band is successful enough to generate a substantial income, you can set it up as a business. We did this when I was in a signed band. We actually took out a loan to pay for assets and recording and paid back from profits. There was no requirement for a new member to pay us. Also, you have to consider what happens if you treat it as a business. Do you all contribute equally? The person driving the van, booking the gigs, storing the PA and managing the social media can all legitimately state they’re doing more. Do they earn more? Socialism may not work in the real world, but the principles apply here.

This is a massive minefield. When we started my band, the lovely (and sadly missed) York5stringer sold us a PA at an incredible price. (Such a lovely lovely man). In essence I loaned the band the money and it paid it back. This was much easier than the arrangement you’re talking about. The agreement we had in the band is that we’d pay me back through gig funds (which we have done) and now its wholly owned by the band. I’ve relinquished ownership of it and if I leave the band it belongs to the band, not me. In our case, we all chipped in £20 from each gig to pay it back and it was done within a few months. It’s going to be impossible to split a PA into shares and unreasonable to expect someone to pay to join a band. I’d consider what we did as an option. Buying individual bits sort of makes sense, but the PA’s value is as a whole system. If a band member demanded payment from me I’d be quite upset.

My brother does a lot of business with Japan selling and buying records, the friction is lessened as his wife is Japanese, but in thousands of transactions (some in the thousands of pounds) he has never experienced a problem. I’d trust a Japanese ebayer.

Ahh I see it’s a different scale. The new ones from Fender Junior look great to me/

Order one from Scan https://www.scan.co.uk/products/fender-guitars-mij-junior-collection-jazz-bass-satin-vintage-white-basswood-body-rosewood-fingerboar Be cheaper and you’ll get excited while you wait!

Agreed. This is from 1978. I’ve had one of these and seen more. They’re so agricultural. The finish is abysmal (thick and dull poly).
-
These basses are so so so bad. They're the cheapest basses Fender produced at the worst time for production. Whether it's in Africa or next door, it's junk.

That’s the definition about it appeared to be used in a pejorative way.

Don’t think people protesting against slavery are woke my friend.

I’d be embarrassed at having people over who might see it. I have to say, when I clicked to open the thread I thought this was a joke at someone’s expense. Personally I’d have it refinished!

Good luck!
