  1. These basses are so so so bad. They're the cheapest basses Fender produced at the worst time for production. Whether it's in Africa or next door, it's junk.
  2. That’s the definition about it appeared to be used in a pejorative way.
  3. Don’t think people protesting against slavery are woke my friend.
  4. These are absolutely awesome. Mine is a fixture on the pedal board.
  5. I’d be embarrassed at having people over who might see it. I have to say, when I clicked to open the thread I thought this was a joke at someone’s expense. Personally I’d have it refinished!
  6. Fait enough. I’ve had a fair few and in my experience they’re most poorly made, heavy, and bang average.
  7. People are talking up the “Dan Smith era” Fenders, and some of the early 80s stuff is appearing in some vintage shops. Objectively speaking, the stuff from about 1975 onwards is pretty appalling. Tried a 1975 jazz that weighed 5.2kg. Insane.
  8. I think I used this one. I added a couple of fabric washers between the adjustable bit that sticks in the back of the bass. Im sure you can get these cheaper second hand to give it a try. https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/pearl-bc-830-boom-cymbal-stand?dfw_tracker=165313-28148&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&campaignid=19688664888&adgroupid=&keyword=&gclid=CjwKCAjwqZSlBhBwEiwAfoZUIL8R3y-78jfakTXNdcpbGDdaeTpb7gHwlSBqoFAPgkDSTyqhUHIz7RoCavQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  9. I replaced mine with a drum stand and it was infinitely better. I think I did a thread on here somewhere.
  10. I love these. Only ever seen one of them in the flesh.
  11. Typically they’d have a matching serial number sticker on the scratch plate. Ask about the history and consider whether there’s much point faking a bass like this (there isn’t). Lastly, at this age they’re usually about 5kg - so see how much it weighs!
  12. I work as a writer and as a musician on the side. Precarious doesn’t really cover it. Guess we have to find something to do that machines can’t replicate!
  13. They look like really lovely guitars and probably quite collectible.
  14. It’s legit. Here’s another to compare it to: https://www.vintage-guitar.de/detailsitem_2670_FENDER-Jazz-Bass-The-Ventures-signature.html
  15. I bought a bass from BD. Turned out not to be what I wanted. My return was acknowledged within the hour, bass picked up the next day and a full refund soon after. Exceptional service.
  16. It may be worth twittering and Facebooking Cash Convertors and Cash Generator.
  17. Not this one. My view is the bass makes little differnce, the EQ and amp does.
  18. I get the same with my family. They’re much happier sharing pictures of their kids! I liked your video.
  19. I had one of these. Absolutely excellent basses.
  20. Bring down the birds - that’s that riff (it was a sample)
  21. Agree with this. Met a few actors and the amount of approaches they get is incredible. They can be nice for 99.9% if the time but if they snap, it’s all over social media and the press. Loads of famous people (like proper famous, not bass players) refuse to read and respond to DMs because half of them are negative. (Let’s be honest, you weren’t very nice about his band!)
  22. This local? http://www.thebandfactory.org https://www.sfecharity.co.uk/sfe-music-charity-in-birmingham/
  23. Was going directly to the bin but if it’s of interest, it’s yours…
