Yeah, I had that. Annoyingly I had one of those deal things that cuts fees by 80%, so I lose that. I'll always try to sell stuff here, but it's guitar based rather than bass and I don't really go on any guitar forums so ebay seemed the best place.

I advertised my Carlsboro valve amp on eBay with a collection only stipulation. Someone clicked the buy button, then immediately emailed me to say "I'm sorry it's not looking good for collection, but if you package up the amp I'll have Royal Mail collect it." When I pointed out this wasn't going to happen and that his idiocy had cost me money and wasted my time, he started getting aggressive about it. I appreciate this is an entirely pointless post, but I just wanted to vent somewhere. Ebay idiots, eh?

I use an HD350 into a Barefaced cab and it sound me amazing (modern blues rock, funk) etc) I sometimes add a 15” speaker cab if im playing somewhere that demands it. Always sounds sweet and is plenty loud enough

The Pacifica is a nice guitar but it’ll lose 75% of its value the minute you play it. Given most new starters give up, I’d buy something with one eye on resale. The Affinity strays are awful (unfinished neck, cheap components etc). I’d personally invest in a Squier VM, and get something that will last for a long time. -
I’m not sure that anyone here is interested in a high quality valve amp for guitar, but I have to dispose of this Carlsboro Fatboy 30w. It’s mid 90s I guess and handmade in the UK. It comes with a celestion speaker, recent revalve and works perfectly! Im having a huge clear out of stuff I don’t use and this is a big one. I paid £200 and now looking to just get it gone before Christmas. I can’t send this, but I make a mean cup of tea if you want to check it out. -
Embarrassingly, if forgotten I owned this so I don’t feel any issues with selling it! It’s a Squier VM fretless jazz bass. This is a really well made instrument with the high quality Seymour Duncan designed pickups. The bass is in excellent condition, apart from an almighty chip out of the top! I had planned on doing a relic job on this, but I never had the heart to do it (and I don’t play fretless, either) so it’s here for sale. Currenrly wearing D’addario chromes but will be strung with Rotosounds as I can use the Chromes on another bass. was looking for £180 which seems reasonable based on past sales. That's me! I"m not trying to hijack the thread to sell stuff (honest), but I also have an Epiphone Les Paul Special ii which has been set up and plays great (and is even cheaper!). As it's for a starter, I've probably got loads of stuff I can send along for nowt as I'd be happy for it to go to a good home and not being sat unused in my music room/office. Talking a stand, little tuner, slide, leads, few books etc. -
Barefaced One 10! This is a wonderful, one cab solution – so good in fact that I've bought a couple of larger ones and this is now not used. It's a shame to let this stand around doing nothing, as it's such a wonderful cab. Was looking for £325. Postage to a UK address is included in the price. Excellent advice. Annoyingly, the Precision requires taking off the whole scratch plate and strings to do this. In 20 years your ordinary bass has become a collectible and, if in good original condition, is now worth approximately £2000. However, if you start playing with the electrics and de-soldering and re-soldering things you’ll effect this, so I’d personally take it a to a tech and do all I could to retain its originality.

This is exceptional value for a wonderful guitar. I’ve had one of these for years and it’s brilliant. -
Was talking to a guitar shop owner and he was saying that he regularly gets calls from people who are disposing of guitar collections. Usually a parent or child. Even hobby guitarists now have thousands of pounds worth of gear. I stripped mine back to what I consider the essentials, and that’s still a double bass, 3 x basses, acoustic guitar and 2 electrics. That’s still 7!

Boom. Hit the nail on the head with this one. This is exactly the same as me. As soon as I regain some mental equilibrium and feel more positive about life I shed all the superfluous crap. What’s funny is that the gigging instruments always remain the same - I just accumulate then dispose of other things. It’s all pretty harmless and I’ve never lost money, but viewed from the outside it’s entirely pointless. US Fender Jazz for the good gigs, Squier P/J for the rough ones and 66 jazz for recordings. Been the same for years.

This is the arch top model which has been hand carved (apparently) and with the roasted maple neck. Quite how this is possible for the price I don’t know. Perhaps it’s best not to ask!

She doesn’t need to spend more money on boxes. Better headphones will do the job! Several of the solutions here cost hundreds of pounds and involve lots of wires and complexity. Use your amp, get better headphones, and save money.
