This is a classic “pie crust” SB 50 in honest original condition. These are exceptionally rare in the U.K. As you can see, this is in used condition and has some honest wear. I bought his from Ash and while there is a laquer crack in the neck pocket thankfully this isn’t structural. Loads of life left in the frets. Truss rod is fine and the bass is set up nicely. However there’s a crackle when it’s plugged in. I was going to get this sorted by the luthier I normally go to, but I don’t have the time. It’s likely to be a dry joint or maybe even a bit of switch cleaner. Still, I can’t be sure. Im looking for £300 £285. If it doesn’t sell I’ll get it set up and sorted (and knowing me, will keep it!). Bass is in Bristol and would be preferred to collect/meet up.

I’m almost on the home stretch on my bass clear out! This is a well used but thoroughly wonderful Yamaha TRBX505 bass I translucent white. This thing plays and sounds wonderful, and is beautifully made. It’s a genuine wonder how they do it for the price. All functions perfectly, sounds great and (to me at least) looks fantastic too. You can see some of the marks, but the damage is minimal and is typical for a gigging instrument. It’s currently wearing D’Addario Chromes which are perfect (for me). Price is £275 I can probably post this now, too. Thanks for the info! I’ve never owned or played a “proper” Alembic (I had an Elan I think, but not the same). If nobody wants this I’ll string it with D’Addario flats and sell something else. (I’ve a limit of 4 basses, and no more!)

Nice! I went by the serial number (assumed 79 was for 1979!). I know the model changed over the years. As you say, it’s a bit of a beauty.

This is the *one* bass I'm a bit unsure of selling in my clear out. It's the classic Ibanez, used by artists such as Sting (although he used a fretless, as pictured!) Bass is in Bristol! It's a 1979 Ibanez Musician bass. This is (as far as I can tell) 100% original, including the brass plate at the top and the inscribed back plate. The condition is, for a late 70s bass, very good indeed, but obviously not mint. You can see there is some buckle rash to the back, some slight chips to the front and a few scrapes to the back. That's the bad stuff out of the way, now the good stuff... This thing sounds immense! It's a full bodied 80s beast. I can only liken it to a Wal in terms of feel, sound and weight. You can coax a huge amount of sounds out of this and, if you want to stick some super-bright strings on, would slap like a beast I'm sure. You can see the condition of the hardware is excellent, with little to no discolouration or damage. The bridge, tuners and everything else are great, and function well. I've tried to picture it, but if you can't see, the frets have huge amount of life in them. Finally, it comes with the original Ibanez branded case too which is in fair shape. It's usable, but I wouldn't tour the world with it, let's put it that way. Price wise, these are fairly rare and I really do like it. So was looking for £1000. It's collection only, as I'd prefer you to check the condition. I’m in Bristol but can drive to meet up if you’re interested.

The great under-the-stairs clear out continues! This is my Steinberger Spirit XT-2 bass. I always wanted one of these, and I haven't been disappointed (so much so, in fact that I managed to pickup a headless Yamaha BX-1 which fulfils all my headless bass needs). As such, this is up for sale. This is in excellent condition with the case, the instruction manual and a set of replacement strings. There is no noticeable damage to the bass guitar, I can see no chips or scrapes anywhere. There is some minor wear to the 'Steinberger' branding on the front pickup, but I'm not sure you'd notice it unless I'd told you. Like all basses I sell nowadays, I'd prefer not to send this, but in this instance I possible can. I'm waiting on the delivery of a new guitar which will come in a sturdy box (at least, I hope it will!) and could use that. Price is pretty firm at £250. Indeed it is (says so on the headstock!) I must say, I played this at a gig once and it truly was a wonderful bass.

Here is a brand new Yamaha TRB-1005J in the lovely Caramel Brown. This was part of a short foray into the world of 5-string basses, which I realise now wasn't really working for me! This was bought as new, but it's a factory second. As you can see, there is a slight discolouration in the finish. This is lacquered, but must have been picked up by the factory. I opened the box, stuck some D'Addario Chromes on and then put it back and it hasn't been played. I naturally still have the box. If I'm being hyper critical, there is a little discolouration on the bridge. I've advertised this here and on eBay too at a substantial discount, but seems these aren't hugely popular. It really is a beautiful instrument, so buy a pretty much new one (with £60 strings on it) for around 65% of the cost of a brand new model. I'm not able to send this, so it's collection in Bristol. Up for grabs is my 30.5" short scale Warwick Corvette. This bass has 24 frets and is equipped with 2 passive MEC pickups. This is collection from Bristol only, I can't/won't post. I bought this from the legend that it Frank Black. He let me have it for a great price, and I'm naturally passing that on again as the morally right thing to do. This is a seriously wonderful instrument for the price, and I am a little sad about it going, but I have to be realistic that a grown up adult doesn't need 30 musical instruments.

Here for sale is my Musima 5-string banjo. This was hand-made in the GDR in the 1970s and, by all accounts, is a good quality banjo. (Well, I've been told it is, I can't actually play it!) It's in excellent condition with a fair bit of life left in the frets and comes with a professional Stagg case too (which must be worth a few quid).
