DR, they're expensive, but I just can't go back, especially now I've discovered their DDT strings, the best strings I've ever used for drop tuning. They cost a fair bit, but they last 3-4 months on their own, and they'll clean back to a zingy sound 2 or 3 times, so you can get 7 or 8 months out of one set.

The harmony modes with delay are very nice, especially if you play harmonics, a bit justin chancellor heavy perhaps but very nice all the same. In fact any modes with delay are quite nice, you can get some good soundscapes going with some +1 oct sweeps and a long delay.

Their live show is an odd combination of fear, hilarity, and nudity.

Chloe Alper anyone? Damn good player too.

Tremolo? A man can dream, assuming they've fixed the bypass.

Started on trumpet and violin in school, but then I got into rock and wanted to play that. There were no bassists at my school just dozens of guitarists and i've always liked been the odd one out, so I took up bass. I actually wanted to take up drums too but as soon as I said the word drums to my mum she just said no. So bass it was and 8 years later I'm still loving, I play guitar and drums now too but bass will always be first.

I never got the slap fixation, it's just one of many ways to play bass, fingerstyle, pick, tapping are all equally as important and valid, and a good player should be well versed in them all.

Nice to see people branching out into odd time sigs, you don't really get a lot of 7/8 outside of prog, probably my favourite time signature.

I've been trying to get a new set of DR DDT's for about a week, strings direct are out of stock, and I've tried every other online guitar shop I can find. Does anyone know anywhere online that has/is likely to have them? I bought some from sound unlimited but they never shipped and the guy didn't know why, which didn't fill me with confidence so I cancelled the order.

Boss LS-2 would be a good investment, they average about £40-£50 2'nd hand but it does exactly what you want and more so it might be worth the extra money. If you fancy building your own though I thnik there's some schematics knocking around here somewhere. The geiger counter does some suprisingly nice fuzz sounds, I was thinking of moving it on after I'd had my dirty fun with it's weird noises, but I might keep it on as a fuzz.

I have terrible ears, I can't really think of any, I guess always assumed that recordings were perfect and anything that sounded a bit odd was intentional....

I'm not going to clarify point because that'll just kick up a further hoohah. But just out of interest if he'd said "This is why I think religion is defunct and irrelevent" would that have been less offesnive?

I enjoy reading and discussing opinions and beliefs outside of my own tiny bubble of values. What's wrong with been offended? I find Hollyoaks offensive, but my head doesn't explode everytime I accidently watch the start of it. If an off-hand comment on an internet duscissuion forum can cause such offense and indignance, maybe the problem isn't entirely with them? Just sayin'
