1. godDAMN it, full valve trace about 20 miles from my doorstep for a damn good price. I'm gonna go drink some scotch to make myself feel better
2. depends what you're using it for, if you want to add low end to a distortion, out it after the distortion, if you want to affect the overall sound going to your amp, put it at the end, if you want to isolate one frequency (useful for electronic sort of basslines) put it at the start, or just find where sounds best.
3. That actually looks really cool, and very well built, probably sounds like an overweight pigeon dropping out of the sky and landing in angry hornets nest and it'll probably break the first time you try and play it hard (how dense can a broom handle be?), but it's a cool idea
4.
I would have thought the FF would destroy your low end. Can you do sound clips?
Doesn't mean it's not fun, I played with one and it reminded me of the first time i used a whammy ( i spent about 10 minutes just making woo-woo noises), I might buy one if i've got some cash to throw around
5. Embrace instrumentalism, just like a guitarist can be replaced by a distortion and an octave pedal, a singer can be replace be some nice melodies and expressive playing
6.
I thought the sale of it was banned in the EU?
Shush
7.
I think next time I will be putting them one effect per box! Way way too many different leads. I don't really mind too much about the mess. The volume drop in the chorus confuses me, I had stuck a different larger resistor on the out op amp to compensate, stuck it in and its very quiet. Upped it again (destroyed the contacts on the PCB in the process ) and its still too quiet. Im loosing signal somewhere, I may check it over to try find the problem. My guess would be a loose connection. Soldering is a funny one. I was using maplins Lead free silver solder for most of this. I ran out and the local electronics shop sold me some 60/40 tin lead alloy stuff- totally different melting point, so therefore tottaly different technique. Going from the trumpet to the french horn maybe
People are worried about dying early so lead based solder has become quite a taboo. Personally i don't mind losing 5 years off my life if it gives me better solder joints. I can't stand lead free stuff, doesn't melt consistently and goes grainy for no reason. I have far too many opinions on solder
8. Oceansize - Effloresce, hope the new album is a return to this kind of form
9. my friends always say I'm stupid taking my bass back home over the holidays, but i leave all my stuff down here so there's nothing to do at home, if I didn't have my bass I would go insane
10.
I don't think an Auto-Wah can pull off Cochise to be honest. I have the Subdecay Prometheus AND an MSD Earthquake Wah on my board for this very reason. The Cochise riff isn't just a straight forward Auto-Wah on a cycle, IMO you need the Manual to get the expression and phrasing of the Wah just right. Cheers
Thats why I use both, I mostly use the GR (auto-wah) with fuzz and oc-2 for synthmania, I use the auto-wah when I want an auto-wah, i.e. when I want a filter sounds but it doesn't need to be controlled, I use the wha when I need to control it. Cochise is a good example, as the timing of the filter is a key aspect of the song (calm like a bomb is the best example methinks). I can pull of a decent calm like a bomb with the wha and groove regulator, both to give it an extra thick OTT sound (Tim Commerford uses 2 105q's at the same time), and the wha so I can time the filter sound properly.
11. I'd be interested to hear it played without a craptonne of reverb
12. I love this thing, but I want to expand my horizons, only looking to trade for another head at the moment. Tradewise i'm open to anything, hit me up with offers, i'd love something with tubes in it (full or hybrid, not bothered), but i realise that's probably not gonna happen at this pricepoint, might be able to add a wee bit of cash for the right thing Only limit is i'm after at least 200w into 8ohm (unless it's a tube head of course). I'll get pics up tommorow when i'm slightly less drunk, i'm in canterbury for collection but could do a meetup within an hour or so's train ride (i get free trains). I'm not looking to get rid of this so I may very well change my mind and not interetd in a cash sale yet. EDIT: Withdrawn for now, had a jam tonight and the sound was just perfect, if you want to do a straight swap for a tube amp i'd still be interested, but otherwise withdrawn
13. Red LED's are just more common (I think because they're cheaper to make and use less power but don't quote me on that), some have blue, some have green, one of mines yellow, no real mystery to it
14. Instrument leads aren't designed to carry anywhere near the current an amp head puts out, if it's a powerful head, it could melt the cable and completely bugger up the head. I think.
15. I'd say a bass terror is a very good way to go, lightweight, puts out a lot of power, and its a hybrid, so you get the awesome tone of a tube amp with none of the downsides (blown power tubes draining your life savings one by one)
16. Looks a lot like a wal to me, which is nought but a good thing
17. Wrong forum dude, PM a mod and they'll move it for you
18. Finally got the rest of the bits for my GGG muff ordered, assuming royal fail cooperate, I'm gonna give it a shot over the weekend, I'll let you know how it goes/how many things I set fire to

Pedal order!
what does a synth count as?
Dang, knew I forgot something. I consider synths as just a blend of octaver filter and distortion/fuzz (because that's all most of them are, especially the BMS). Your pedals I would put BMS > Blowtorch > Small Stone > BBDDI. But that's because I like to put gated fuzzes last in the dirt order, try blowtorch > BMS, but because the BMS has it's own fuzz you probably won't notice much difference with that.
