Leverage… innit? It’s a class 3 lever if I remember right… fulcrum at the tripod end, load at the speaker end, force in the middle (that’s you).

As a former Warwick-head I much prefer the bubinga corvette to the ash. I agree you’d probably get more by selling the black hardware separately… but I love the black. If I still played Warwicks and wanted a six string… I’d be tempted by £850 plus postage. I sold a fretless BO Thumb 4 (circa 2007) for £800 a few years ago… for reference.

High quality bass combo without noisy cooling

I’ve used an EBS Microbass II pre-amp for years. Usually plug into the effects return of any amp for my killer tone. Currently into an Orange Crush 50 for home and Fender Rumble 100 for rehearsals… don’t think either have a fan. You also need to check the amp has an effects return. I also have the option to plug straight into the Orange for a different sound. There was a EBS Microbass III for sale on here at a great price… it has an aux in and headphones out for totally silent practising. The EBS II (mine) doesn’t have an aux in. -
Mods… lock this thread. I’m on GAS overload here.

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?

Castration doesn’t just prevent procreation… it calms them down a bit… … it’s a win/win. -

I’m still playing with my bony, arthriticky claws (complete with creeping numbness)… in fact… the band seem to think I’m pretty good. I’ve moved on to short scale basses, which definitely help. I’d also recommend getting some flat wound strings… not because they make it any easier… they just sound awesome. Keep playing and best of luck.

I’m totally with the OP. Get shut! If you’ve found something to fill the gap that doesn’t involve endless discussions with other people… then go for it. You don’t need the stress.

Regarding the title of your thread… it ain’t madness… it’s GAS! Enjoy…

I would say... convert to active humbuckers and sell the bits you take out.

earlpilanz on ebay is highly regarded by some on this forum… including me.

Singers who don't understand how music works

Never mind the tambourine… it turns out that our drummer’s brother is a world class ocarina player. Time to put “Wild Thing” on the set list and draft him in, I think. -

Damn right on the tambourines. -
I have the very same East knobs on my Mustang… a stacked volume for PJ pickups and a tone. Very classy.

They could pay the band in alcohol free beer tokens. That’d be ok…

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

However much I fancy the Acinonyx… that headstock is a deal-breaker. Not sure about the push button thing… I know I’d get my fave tone in the first session and wouldn’t use them again… what a waste of buttons… -
Beefing up the bridge pickup on a P/J bass, open to ideas/mods etc

I have the Nordstrand NPJ4SE PJ set in my MIM Mustang. The Js have a split coil and are hum cancelling. Never have any trouble with an underpowered J. -
Lightweight is essential for me. I bought a Rumble 500 which I think is great. I was running it at 2/10 volume at rehearsals… so I even bought a Rumble 100 (even lighter) just for rehearsals. Not had a chance to gig the 500 yet (obviously due to Covid) but I can’t see it running out of steam. I would prob still be using my MarkBass 121P… but I sold it thinking I wouldn’t be gigging again. Didn’t re-buy one… just fancied a change.

Excellent. To infinity and beyond…

I’ve got a stacked volume on my MIM Mustang… instead of the pickup switch… a KiOgon loom. I agree with your tonal considerations… I like the J pickups to “hold their own”. I have Nordstrands in the Mustang… sounds great.
