Playing whilst Sick (Tales/regrets when the show went on..)
Trueno replied to ARGH's topic in General Discussion
I’ve had Crohns Disease forever, so I’ve felt bad for most of my gigs. I found that when you start from a low point the shot of adrenalin is more profound. Being in a band long term runs down my reserves of physical and (particularly) mental energy, so two years at a time is about my limit. I’ve given up gigging completely now… next time the phone rings with an enticing prospect it will be “thanks but no thanks”. PS… a full year without a band and I’m feeling great. -
What is the most you'd personally pay for a new bass?
Trueno replied to lidl e's topic in Bass Guitars
In my heyday (???) I’d pay whatever a US P bass cost. Nowadays I’d try out Squiers until I found a goer, then I’d put an EMG Geezer in it. -
All Wilcock basses should be banned from this forum… they upset my equilibrium. I think I’d learn to play left-handed for that one.

That answer is far too sensible…

Just tell them you’ve had a fiddle with the knobs and absolutely nailed the Rumble tone. They’ll never know.

I think everyone should have a B1-4, whether they want one or not. I’m more “set and forget” myself, but I have two or three patches for practice… depends on what mood I’m in. I would def use for rehearsals or gigs, if I didn’t have my EBS Microbass pre-amp. Crazy value for money.

The last drummer I worked with praised me for my ability to count to four.

If right-handed, the bassist who stands to the left of the drummer on small WMC stages, so he doesn’t hit the drummer over the back of the head when he gets into the swing of it. Vice versa for lefties.

I didn’t change it much… I was just starting my foray into fretless basses and ended up buying a number of Warwick fretless basses. I sold the P bass in the fretted version (But I should have kept it) and sold the fretless neck to Martthebass… if I remember correctly.
-
I once bought a fretless Status neck for my fretted P bass. You wouldn’t want to change back and forth too much, but you have the option.

The hive mind thinks that you WILL end up with a Precision… you won’t be able to help yourself. Just get one asap and save yourself further pain.

At age 66 I’m still trying to decide what I’d like to do for a living…

I’d play that myself. The pink looks great. Awaiting further reports…

I’m afraid I’m one of those gullible people that would happily pay extra for a tweeter… and then pay even more for an off-switch.

I think the time to quit is when you die. But nowadays, with digital jiggery-pokery and hologramatic goings-on, dead guys just keep on going. It reminds me of a line from Red Dwarf: “death doesn’t screw your career up like it used to…”

Revolver fan here… count me in.

The glass-half-full view. Maybe bassists looking for a gig will be more in demand.
