I’d really be up for some Primal Scream.
-
Seems you’re only limited by your imagination. I’d happily play just about all of these… the problem, as it occurs to me now, is convincing the rest of the band. I think we need a talk…

Thanks, guys. All suggestions will be considered… think I’ll have to write them down.

Our guitarist has health problems... unfortunately very serious health problems. We have decided to limp on and keep rehearsing and to keep his empty spot on the stage open for his return (which I personally do not believe will ever happen, but I don't want to get too real with the other guys). We won't be gigging any time soon but want to carry on... mainly so we don't go off our collective chump! We do classic rock (what else), some blues, poppy rock, rocky pop. No point being modest... the rhythm section is bloody excellent, but the bass player's BVs leave a little to be desired (but I'm working on it). The singer/guitarist was originally meant to be a singer only, but is pretty handy on guitar and swaps chunky chords and solos with the erstwhile guitarist... but he might be a bit limited if he takes on both vocals and gee-tar at the same time. I think we need to carefully consider our setlist as to what we can do well. Any suggestions for suitable songs, Basschat collective... anything and everything will be considered. I'm open-minded and think that even seemingly unsuitable songs can be adapted.

This. I think if you can play both ways equally well then it’s not a bad problem to have.

Fender Rumble 500 v3 with cover***Sold***

The "much-loved and sought after" Fender Rumble 500 V3 (plus natty Fender logo-d dust cover) Same old story... bought this late November 2019 in anticipation of some gigs. I've used it twice in rehearsals, so it's pretty much immaculate and now taking up space in my house. You can get the details on line, but stand out bits for me are: Weighs about 17 kgs 500 watts with extension cab and about 350 watts (???) on its own. Count the watts however you want, but it's loud and thumpy Effects send/return Aux in/phones out. DI and stuff Quite a bit of twiddle-ability on the eq and drive The dust cover will keep dust off, but will probably not withstand impact from a club hammer (I've not tested this one) I would much prefer pickup from home... you can also give a try out and imbibe some excellent coffee or dodgy tea in a double-jabbed environment. I live near the A62 midway between Manchester and Leeds. However... I've now gathered some packing material so courier to somewhere in the UK is also possible... haven't priced this yet, but guessing about £20-30 Now I'm hoping the pics will download properly...

Woohoo! Finally a finger tone club I can join. Even though I spent 30 years trying to clumsily play a guitar (I’ve given up now), I could never get into using one of those pesky little bits of plastic. Playing with fingers just comes so naturally and I like the tone. For the record… I usually play with two fingers… sometimes thumb for double stops. I have to keep my the fingernails cropped on my picking fingers as I don’t like the clanky sound… some might.

Just love the lugubrious chap who walks on and escorts her off the stage…

I’ve had a Boss TU-2 on my pedal board for years. No probs. Easy to see on a stage… mutes when you’re tuning (I also use it as a mute pedal) and I it also has a daisy chain power out… I use it to power my pre amp pedal. If it blew up I’d probably buy the TU-3.

Noob practice amp question, changing mustang to rumble worth it?
Trueno replied to BabyBlueSound's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have a Rumble 100 (used for rehearsals) which is too loud for a home practice amp. I’d say save your money and stick with the 25. Getting a good quality pair of headphones is a much better idea to me. I have some AKGs which fantastic playing through a Zoom pedal (no amp in sight) -
I got rid of the switch on my Mustang and put in a KiOgon loom with stacked volume knobs. I swapped the pickups for Nordstrands… the J pickup holds its own. It’s the bass of the gods. Funnily enough my switch didn’t crackle… I don’t think they’re very good wuakity, though.

Thanks for all the replies. Just have to sell the old stuff now…

Yes… just noticed you can order the stippled finish for a bit extra… I like the look of it. I have tolex on two Rumbles and an Orange amp and never has any issues.
-
That’s plan A for me. Get one for rehearsals and get a second 1x10 if and when the next gig arises.

Withdrawn Ashdown original ABM500 C115 combo .

Woohoo! Thanks, guys. Now my real problem… should I actually get a 2x10? I’ll put it to Alex.

Thinking of buying a Barefaced 1x10 for a superlight rehearsal rig. I’ve read about peeling tolex and don’t want to drop £500 (with cover and silver grill) on a peely-tolexy type thing. The website seems to say that Gen 3 cabs have a whizzy new coating on. What do BC’ers think? I will be contacting Barefaced, but as they want my 500 quid they’ll tell me owt… that was a joke, by the way…

Oi! Steady now…

Without the Beatles there would be no shake n vac song.
-
I agree… but the killer is good musicianship. Everyone needs to be as tight as a gnat’s chuff… unlike our current under-practised guitarist who manages to come in a microsecond late on all the important bits…
-
I heard a thrashy version of the Shake ‘n’ Vac advert song once. It was pleyed really well and sounded brilliant.

You’ve missed the best bit about vinyl… waking up next morning with a hangover… on top of the bed… fully clothed plus muddy boots… headphones on and hearing the continuous zzzzd-tish at the end of the record, been doing that all night after you passed out. Them were’t days…
