1.
Don't suppose you still have this?!
Yes I do, but its so good I decided to keep it for rehearsals
2. Thanks guys, I've mostly have used rotosound swing 66, but have recently changed to Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinkys. The Lakland has these at 50-105, nice strings but really messed up my string height / action. I've already bought the 55-110 & a Hipshot drop D to go on the Stingray and following the comments above like the idea mixing up the sets, but think I will try the heavy gauge on the Lakie as well with a good set up, as this is my main bass. But many thanks for clarifying the 110 route
3. Hi guys, would appreciate some advice on this. My band plays with the guitars tuned to Eb, then on some songs would drop the E string down a further tone (Db). This tends to make the strings a bit sloppy (45-105). To help overcome this, should I go thicker, 55-110 or thinner 40-100 ? Will be sending a couple of basses of to have a decent set up with which ever strings would be best. Thanks, Dusty

14. What a great guy to deal with. Bought a immaculate Musicman Stingray from him which was in my opinion, better than stated and very well packed. Great comm's all the way through the purchase and shipped from Dublin to Essex within 48hrs. Many thanks, Dusty
15. I attend quite a few jams in the east London / Essex area, depends what your looking for ? Blues / Rock / Mor ! Might be a bit far to travel tho. Also there is a Facebook group called Jammers, biased towards the east London & Essex area, but other areas sometimes post as well
16. I've got one on my Lakland P/J, swear by it, now looking for one for my incoming Stingray
17. Strings Direct / Holiday Music, Have been dealing with Steve since the mid 70's, bought loads of amps, cabs, basses and recently guitars for my son. Never had any problems and they will always go the extra mile to keep theirs customers happy & loyal. Had a few dealings direct with Paul as well over the years who even managed to get made for me, a set of strings for my short scale (30") 8 & 4 string twin neck Birch / Ricky !! Not many dealers would go to that sort of trouble !! So a BIG + 1 for Strings Direct & Holiday Music. P.s, they also do a great guitar set up on site
18.
Bought a Markbass LMT from Andy. A true gent to deal with. Could not have been easier

Many thanks Andy
19. I've owned this beautifull 78 Mapleglow Rickie for close on 20yrs and I love it to bits. But all that time what I really wanted was the Chris Squire edition which I now have Back in the early 70's I owned a 63 Fireglow which I sold to buy my first car (fool) and I would like to swop this for either a 4001V63 or another 70's slim neck Rickie in either Fire or Burgandy. Talk to me - W.H.Y ?? Will not trade for anything other than another Rickie 4001 (not even a 4003) I have all the Basses I need !
20. Thanks Guys, Think I'll go the route off another bass set up with a higher action and neck set for the lower tuning etc. Next problem...... another Lakie or a Rickie
21. Would appreciate some advice please in resolving my cr4p playing technique ! I normally play simple bluesy / rock style bass, mostly with two fingers or with a plek if a bit faster. I've just joined a 80's Metal band (Iron Maiden - Saxon style) which requires a hard driving finger style technique. The speed part of it is coming along ok, but it sounds cr4p !! I'm getting loads of noise from the strings bouncing off the frets further up the neck as I play. The action on my basses have always been set quite low and dropping the tuning to Eb is probably not helping matters. What would be my best route to improve this. Would I need to raise the action ? change the string gauge ? I dont really want to tamper with my main basses, but would consider obtaining some other guitars for this project if needed. Cheers
22. I used to enjoy a trip to Denmark St to look, try & buy the candy (bought 2 Rickies, an EB3 & a Warwick Thumb), but like most on here, I would not bother now. Me & my son went up there looking for a new PRS for him and was treated with total contempt. Most of the staff could not be bothered to get off the internet, and those that wern't, looked at me as if I was sh*te !! I know a few people that worked in Tin Pan back in the 60's / 70's, and they would have never treated me like this. So Digital Village in Romford got my cash (lot's) and my son got a very nice twangy thing. But I must say in Wunjos favor, they were more than helpfull, offering me and my 14 yr old the oppertunity to try ANY stock in the shop, even before we said what we was after. The stock was a taty, but most of it was s/h and nothing (not even the 70's Rickies) took our fancy, But at least they tried to treat the all customers with respect, as they were like this with everyone that went in
