1. Much to my shame....I had my favourite bass (Alembic 20th Anniversary) sitting un played in its case for 4 years! I was hankering for a play on it recently.....opened the case...and was knocked out at its killer looks. Plugged it in..and just couldn't believe how great it played and sounded. Anyone else rediscovered theirs?

3. I agree..it does look a little crude. There are some amazing finishes on the website under 'current stock'
4. Not quite sure what to make of this....some of the features are really cool...but not sure of the build quality. Some nice basses if you go to makers website...some incredible finishes..really crazy stuff! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111454291813?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
5.
..............just put a bid on it
I thought you were serious for a sec lol
6. Looks horrible...has a soundhole pickup for an acoustic guitar on it......what was the 'maker' thinking? ..buy heyyyy! It handmade! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Handmade-One-Off-Wood-leather-trim-Bass-Guitar-/281425689503?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4186473b9f
7. It's put a smile on MY face......but its total crap.
8. Hi what's the string spacing on these?
9. Has anyone here ever played the bolt on 5 Buzzard by Warwick?..the one fitted with 2 j type pups. Any opinions based on experience? What is the 'going rate' for one?
10.
Thread derial. Sorry. Is your bass the BZ-6000? If so, what is the string spacing like? Ta.
My HB 6 er is one of the early ones in transparent black finish...I think it was called the HB 600 ...I had 3 6ers at one point....2 of them were boutique..... Very expensive too....but I preferred my HB.....the other 2 ...long gone. :-)
11.
Hi. The String spacing is 2.325cm .The scale length is 34". It really has an all round sound. The eq is very good on it. The pickups are electrosonic sbs. Thanks
Are you sure about the string spacing?..what I meant was the distance between each string at the bridge..its usually between 16-19mm
12. Hi, What's the scale length, and string spacing at the bridge? What kind of music would you say it excels at? Are those humbuckers....if so can the coils be split? Thanks.
13.
Aren't you asking for two different sounds here? Jaco's sound is pure passive jazz being played really hard (other than the soft bits obv) but "super-jazzes" in my mind are Sadowsky, overwater etc... which are mostly active. The active circuitry will give you more options for other sounds, but I'm very happy using a passive jazz & they can do quite a few different sounds without the EQ then you can always use your other gear to change the sound...
The thing is even though Jaco used a passive bass...there are loads of basses that give that 'type of sound' Ken Smith , and others...I like that 'type of tone' it needn't be from a Fender...some Jazz type basses have a hi fi version of this tone that I also find very appealing....but I doubt I'm gonna get that for £300......unless of course someone knows better...that would be cool. :-)
14.
As above. I'm quite picky when it comes to Jazz tones, and my brother's VM Jazz is surprisingly good. He put a £20 Artec Active EQ in it and it's a superb bit of kit! Very playable necks and good quality hardware all round means that you'd be foolish not to even try one...
So the VM would be your choice over the deluxe active?

16.
The Squier Deluxe Jazz Active is a great bass, the 3 band active EQ is very handy to have and it doesn't sacrifice the traditional single coil sound. The instrument also has a 'slap switch' that adds fair amount of low end heft. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get a sound out of it that you liked. The Squier Vintage Modified Jazz also gets a lot of praise too (as do the much less expensive J&D and Harley Benton clones). I've got the Deluxe in the 4 string version and I'm very happy with it - I customised mine a little in adding a scratchplate. One thing I'm not sure about is whether you're talking about playing fretless or not - Jaco used roundwounds with an epoxied fingerboard and add his playing style to it for an understanding of the sounds he created. If you do want to try fretless then the Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz has an ebonol (phenolic) board that'll hold up well to wear from rounds. The Deluxe Jazz also has an ebonol board, this is said to sound somewhat like ebony in how note attack is preserved.
I'll be playing fretted...at least at first. ..using round wounds. Might De fret later. Need to find out if de fretting an ebonol board is the same process as a wooden one.
17. That's really sad news. I sincerely hope you find a way of making music ( in your studio)...... And TRY to fulfil your potential.
18. Congrats. I'm a fan of Harley B basses. Just been playing my 6 er....and cured my gas for another bass ( temporarily I suspect).
19. After many years of resisting the temptation..I've decided I want a bass that produces that classic Jaco back pickup sound....the one tone that burps and grizzlies!! Like scores of others I was very influenced by THAT tone......I've avoided it as I didn't want to sound like a Jaco clone. I have a limited budget of around £300 ..I've listened to various Squiers, and one or two other brands ...and to be honest haven't got a clue as to my best option....some of the j - equipped Warwick rock basses sound nice too. I would really welcome your suggestions for my best option to get as close to a ' super-jazz' type tone as I can with my limited budget. I am very open to suggestions. THANKS!!
20. Who on earth would want to buy anything from from a prize knob like him? Ridiculous listing.
21. Looks very nice....but who knows if it sounds any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221479500893?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
22. It's true..if that was my attempt at a build..I'd be petty chuffed...but he's asking nearly a grand. He's got more front than Tesco's.
23. Truly stunning! Bespoke! Evaluated by a veteran bassist! Really crap work IMHO http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-guitar-bespoke-4-string-fretless-electric-with-fitted-case-STUNNING-/121369376416?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item1c422db6a0 Whaddya reckon?
24. Harley Benton jazz basses great value..worth checking out.
25. Hi, what's the string spacing? Cheers
